Easter is always, but especially in this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the victory of God s gentle but invincible mercy raising up Jesus, faithful witness, the irst-born of the dead (Revelation 1:5), irst-born among many brothers [and sisters] (Romans 8:29), conquering death in all its forms, in all of us in the human family. In Luke s Vigil Gospel, heavenly messengers send the women forth: Remember what [Jesus] said to you (Luke 24:6). In John s Gospel, the empty tomb likewise sends forth Mary Magdalene, Peter, and the Beloved Disciple, who believe though they do not fully understand. Finally, Luke s evening Emmaus Gospel sends us forth, as missionaries of mercy, assuring us that we will encounter the Risen Lord, today and every day, in the stranger we meet along life s journey, in the Word that makes our hearts burn within us, and in the breaking of bread (see Luke 24:32, 35). Jesus Resurrection signals His victory over sin and death. He has conquered whatever would diminish us and separate us from God and the fullness of life. We all need this celebration of Easter which can be like an infusion of air and light in our lives which are often weighed down by sickness, anxiety, broken relationships, and personal struggles with sin and temptation. As we continue our life journey, we can count on the Resurrection of Jesus as a sure compass of hope that helps us navigate our turbulent world. In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, we clearly recognize that the Resurrection of Jesus is the triumph of God s mercy. The new life and hope that the Resurrection brings us is not the result of our works or merits. It is pure grace, a sheer gift of love that comes to us because of God s mercy. When we stand before that mercy, we know that we are both indebted and responsible. We are indebted to the Lord for His gift, and all we can do is give Him thanks and sing His praise. We are also responsible, for if mercy has touched us we must then be the hands and instruments of God s mercy in the world. When we carry on the spiritual and corporal works of mercy, we give living witness to our faith in His most merciful Resurrection. Let us pray for one another. Let us renew our faith in the power of Christ s Resurrection to bring God s mercy and renewal to a world in need. W czasie nieustającego podążania drogą życia, zawsze możemy liczyć na Zmartwychwstanie Jezusa, jako pewnego rodzaj kompas nadziei, który pomaga nam w nawigacji przez turbulencje świata. W tym roku Jubileuszu Miłosierdzia jasno widzimy, że Zmartwychwstanie Pana Jezusa jest triumfem Bożego miłosierdzia. Nowe życie i nadzieja, które przynosi nam Zmartwychwstanie, nie jest wynikiem naszej pracy, ani nie jest też naszą zasługą. Jest czystą łaską, darem miłości, które przychodzą do nas dzięki Bożemu miłosierdziu. Stając w obliczu Bożego miłosierdzia wiemy, że jesteśmy dłużnikami Boga i że mamy do wypełnienia obwiązek. Posiadamy względem Boga dług za otrzymany od Niego dar, a wszystko, co możemy zrobić, to dziękować Mu i głosić Jego chwałę. Mamy również do wypełnienia misję, bo dotyk Bożego miłosierdzia sprawia, że uświadamiamy sobie, iż my sami musimy stawać się rękoma i narzędziami Bożego miłosierdzia w świecie. Kiedy wypełniamy dzieła miłosierdzia względem ciała i względem duszy, to dajemy żywe świadectwo wiary w najmiłosierniejsze Zmartwychwstanie naszego Pana. Módlmy się za siebie wzajemnie. 5 Dear Parishioners: Each year we celebrate the joy of Easter and with this happiness we exchange greetings with each other. The victorious Christ rises from the tomb and goes before us, to lead us to this triumph. We listen intently to the bells of the Resurrection procession, announcing to the world that Christ lives and that death no longer has power over Him. Grateful to the Risen Lord for His victory over death and return to life, we rightfully rejoice, celebrate, and are glad as we sing the joyful Alleluia. To our parishioners and all our friends we extend our heartfelt greetings: may each day of our life pass in peace and in the splendor of the Risen Christ. May the joy and hope lowing from the empty tomb of the Savior strengthen us and enable us to triumph over all troubles, dif iculties, and all the "Good Fridays" of our life, that is, our disappointments and failures.
