Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Three Thanksgiving Mass Today, at 12:30 PM, a Mass of Thanksgiving will be offered by Bishop Andrew Wypych for the intention of the benefactors and sponsors of our renovated parish parking lot. At the same time, the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus located in our church parking lot will be solemnly blessed. This statue is the ful illment of the wishes of our deceased, long-time parishioner, Irene Brzenczak, who left in her will approximately $600,000 for our parish. By means of this offering and the generosity of all our parishioners over the past few years, our parish was able to cover the costs associated with the renovation of the parking area; and thanks to which, we have no outstanding inancial debts at the present time. We ask all our parishioners and benefactors to take part in this Mass of Thanksgiving for God s help in the renovation of our parking lot. Speaking just to ind applause or to tell people what they want to hear... is like prostitution". - Pope Benedict XVI The truth about abortion is repugnant and abhorrent. It is therefore not easy and requires courage to speak out about abortion. However, as Catholics, We must boldly speak the truth and contradict the untruths and misleading rhetoric which surrounds the issue. Some of the myths are discussed below: * ''The government should not interfere with someone's personal choice. This is neither practical" desirable or correct. If there is only one legitimate function of government, it is the protection of innocent human life and to prevent one individual victimizing another. The word "choice" might sound good, but the reality is that some "choices" are crimes and all crimes are "choices". * Abortion advocates try to use smokescreen language to conceal the truth about abortion. A good example is the term "women's reproductive rights". The biological reality is that when a woman is pregnant, reproduction has already occurred. If that were not true, there would be nothing for the abortionist to abort. * Another deliberately misleading term is "woman's access to healthcare". Healthcare relates to the treatment of diseases, injuries or illnesses. Since pregnancy is none of these, abortion is de initely not "healthcare". * We are told that we should not tell a woman when to have a child. Abortion is not about children who might come into the world, but it is about children who are already in the world, living and growing~ in the mother's womb. When a woman is pregnant she already has the child. The only thing to be decided is whether she will have a live or a dead baby. * We are also told that we should not interfere with a woman's "relationship" with her doctor. The fact is that in the vast majority of abortions, the expectant mother meets the abortionist for the irst time about ive minutes before the abortion. There is no relationship!

By Joanna Fuchs Happy Father s Day Jubilee Year of Mercy Today, as he often does, Luke portrays Jesus praying in solitude (Luke 9:18). The Jubilee Year of Mercy invites us to rediscover the value of silence as the prayerful setting in which to re lect on the ways in which God s mercy transforms our lives, in order to make mercy the heart of our own lifestyle. But in a line that sounds odd, Jesus rebuked his disciples and directed them not to tell anyone (9:20 21) after they professed their faith in Jesus as the Christ of God (9:20). Jesus challenges us also to profess our faith not by what we say, but by what we do: take up our own cross daily (9:23) and bear one another s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Our gratitude for God s mercy toward us should make us instruments of God s mercy toward all. Then, as Zechariah prophesies in today s irst reading, the fountain of God s mercy will open to purify the whole world from the sin and sel ishness that cause suffering and sorrow to so many (Zechariah 13:1).
