B. Nieustającej Pomocy On the third Sunday of July, the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (C.Ss.R. or Redemptorists ) historically celebrated the Feast of the Most Holy Redeemer. The feast, which has origins dating back to 16th C. Venice, was solemnized by the Redemptorist Order through a concession granted by Pope Benedict XIV in 1749. Prior to mid-20th C. liturgical reforms, which included simplifying the traditional Roman liturgical calendar, the Redemptorists kept the Feast of the Most Holy Redeemer as a First Class Double (roughly equivalent to a First Class Feast on the 1962 calendar) with an Octave. In times past, the Redemptorists also honored this feast on February 25 and October 23, and enjoyed the privilege of being able to recite a votive Office of the Most Holy Redeemer once-a-month. If you wish to request a mass for a deceased member or a blessing or to ask for the health of a loved one or friend, you may do so at the rectory. Ogłoszenia Parafialne 15 lipca 2018 r. XV Niedziela w Ciągu Roku Jezus przywołał do siebie Dwunastu i zaczął rozsyłać ich po dwóch. Dał im też władzę nad duchami nieczystymi i przykazał im, żeby nic z sobą nie brali na drogę prócz laski: ani chleba, ani torby, ani pieniędzy w trzosie. Ale idźcie obuci w sandały i nie wdziewajcie dwóch sukien. I mówił do nich: Gdy do jakiego domu wejdziecie, zostańcie tam, aż stamtąd wyjdziecie. Jeśli w jakim miejscu was nie przyjmą i nie będą słuchać, wychodząc stamtąd strząśnijcie proch z nóg waszych na świadectwo dla nich. Oni więc wyszli i wzywali do nawrócenia. Wyrzucali też wiele złych duchów oraz wielu chorych namaszczali olejem i uzdrawiali. Mk 6,7-13 Najświętszy Odkupiciel Odkupiciel świata i człowieka, Jezus Chrystus, to centralna postać dzieła zbawienia, sprawowanego liturgicznie w czasie corocznego Triduum Paschalnego. Uroczystość Najświętszego Odkupiciela, podobnie, świętuje historyczne wydarzenie Odkupienia, ale koncentruje naszą uwagę na jego znaczeniu i powszechnej mocy zbawczej. Uroczystość ta przypomina nam zwłaszcza szczególne przyczyny Odkupienia, które są pozahistoryczne. Są nimi przede wszystkim nieskończona miłość Ojca dającego nam Syna oraz miłość Syna, który wydał za nas samego siebie i uczynił nas w swoim Duchu nowym stworzeniem, pierwocinami powszechnego zbawienia ludzkości i świata. Święty papież Jan Paweł II był piewcą Odkupienia od swojej pierwszej encykliki Redemptor Hominis (Odkupiciel Człowieka). Całe środowisko życia i misję Jezusa Chrystusa wpisał on w swoistą gramatykę zbawienia, która już od Wcielenia ma swoje permanentne wymiary Odkupienia (Redemptoris Mater, Redemptoris Custos, Redemptionis Donum, Redemptionis Sacramentum, itd.) Komentując te nadzwyczaj widoczne wymiary odkupieńczej wizji św. Jana Pawła II, kard. J. Ratzinger napisał: Tu chodzi o człowieka. Aby człowiek mógł być odkupiony, potrzebny jest Odkupiciel. Potrzebujemy Chrystusa, Człowieka, który w jednej osobie jest człowiekiem i Bogiem «nierozdzielnie i bez pomieszania natur». Jest nam potrzebny Redemptor Hominis. W Ewangelii rozbrzmiewają zaś dziś słowa Chrystusa do Nikodema, w których zawiera się serce dobrej nowiny: zbawienie stało się faktem, bo Bóg umiłował świat, który stworzył, do tego stopnia, że dla jego ocalenia dał swego jedynego Syna. Każdy kto w Niego wierzy, ma życie wieczne, życie relacji z Ojcem wszystkich ludzi, sięgające poza śmierć fizyczną, w całkowitej miłości, która nigdy nie umiera. Metafora kupowania czy odkupywania w odniesieniu do osób ludzkich nie ma dziś szans na większą popularność. Zazwyczaj pojawia się ona w dramatycznym kontekście porwań i uprowadzeń dla uzyskania okupu, nierzadko kończąc się śmiercią niewinnych. Kultura naszej cywilizacji mówi o odkupieniu całych obszarów ludzkości, które jeszcze nie mogą się cieszyć obywatelskimi wolnościami osoby ludzkiej, popadając jednak w zdumiewające samozaprzecznia. Oto emancypacja niektórych musi często być opłacona urzeczowieniem innych podmiotów, co jest tak widoczne w przypadku niszczenia embrionów ludzkich w imię postępu i wolności badań Teologia będzie nam stale przypominać: Odkupienie jest przeniesieniem współrzędnych ludzkiej egzystencji w Miłość Bożą, która jest niezniszczalna. Każda miłość woła o całkowitą przynależność wzajemnie powierzonych sobie egzystencji. Niech dzisiejsza uroczystość pozwoli nam na nowo spojrzeć na zwycięski krzyż Odkupiciela, który ofiaruje z wysokości kompletnie bezinteresownego daru z siebie samą Miłość pochodzącą prosto z łona Ojca. W sercu Ojca Jezus przygotował dla nas wszystkich mieszkanie. Jest ono tak osobiste, że nikt go nie zajmie w nasze miejsce. Czy pamiętam o tym moim niebieskim adresie, gdzie jest już tajemniczo ukryte z Chrystusem w Bogu moje zmartwychwstałe życie? Czy przynależąc wiekuiście do Odkupiciela, zabiegam także o to, aby nikt z moich braci i sióstr nie zginął, ale miał życie wieczne, radując się nim już tu, na ziemi, w miłości wzajemnej uczniów Jezusa?

St. Mary s Parish News July 15, 2018 Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time All of our registered parishioners should Mark 6:7-13 have received in the mail the 2018 Parish Raffle Book and the information Jesus instructs his disciples and sheet explaining the details about the sends them to preach repentance. raffle. There are 7 weeks before we begin our Parish Carnival and Summer Fest that will begin on August 26th so there is certainly enough time for everyone to put forth their best effort to sell their raffle book for the benefit of our parish. The Early Bird Raffle drawing for a $100 cash prize will be held on Sunday, August 5th The entire raffle book must be sold by this date in order to participate in the Early Bird Raffle. The cover of the raffle book is used for all Early Bird drawings so you must remember to turn in the cover together with your raffle tickets. Background on the Gospel Reading This week s Gospel and the one for next week describe how Jesus sent the disciples to minister in his name and the disciples return to Jesus afterward. These two passages, however, are not presented together in Mark s Gospel. Inserted between the two is the report of Herod s fears that Jesus is John the Baptist back from the dead. In Mark s Gospel, Jesus ministry is presented in connection with the teaching of John the Baptist. Jesus public ministry begins after John is arrested. John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, who preached the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God. While we do not read these details about John the Baptist in our Gospel this week or next week, our Lectionary sequence stays consistent with Mark s theme. Recall that last week we heard how Jesus was rejected in his hometown of Nazareth. The insertion of the reminder about John the Baptist s ministry and his death at the hands of Herod in Mark s Gospel makes a similar point. Mark reminds his readers about this dangerous context for Jesus ministry and that of his disciples. Preaching repentance and the Kingdom of God is dangerous business for Jesus and for his disciples. Mark wants his readers to remember that we, too, may find resistance as we choose to be disciples of Jesus. Mark s Gospel tells us that Jesus sent out the Twelve. These twelve were selected from among Jesus disciples and named by Mark in chapter 3. Mark notes that these twelve are also called apostles. The word apostle means one who is sent. The number twelve is also a symbolic number, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. By naming twelve apostles, Jesus shows his mission to be in continuity with the mission of God s people, Israel. Jesus instructions to the apostles are very specific. He repeats the mission that they are sent to preach and to share his authority to heal and to drive out demons. Jesus sends them in pairs, establishing his mission as a communal endeavor. Jesus also instructs them to travel lightly, without the customary food, money, and extra set of clothes. These instructions mean that the Twelve will be dependent on the hospitality of others, just as Jesus depended on others to provide for his needs. Jesus continues to send us into the world as his disciples. But like the first disciples, we are not sent alone. Jesus has given us the community of the Church, which strengthens our life of discipleship. The Christian message can only authentically be proclaimed in and through the community of faith that is the Church. In our work with others, we build this community of faith and can invite others to share in it. We ask our parishioners again (as we have in the past) to donate any of the following items for our parish Carnival and Summer Fest. Your support has been tremendous in the past!
