From the Pastor s Desk... Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, The process of determining where a priest will serve as a pastor in the Archdiocese of Chicago is prayerfully and carefully facilitated by the Cardinal, the Vicar Bishops of each Vicariate, the Deans, a priest who coordinates priest placement activities full-time and the Priests Placement Board which consists of eight Archdiocesan priests. Members of the Priests Placement Board meet weekly from September through June to assess the needs of parishes in light of placing pastors and associate pastors at parishes. Careful attention is given to determine how the Holy Spirit is calling particular priests to serve the needs of specific parishes in the Archdiocese. The process is focused on assessing each specific pastor s talents and skills and matching them with the needs of particular parishes. The input of the staff, lay leadership and parishioners of each parish is extremely valuable to the process. The process is outlined in brief below: A Parish Consultation has been scheduled at St. Francis Borgia for Thursday, January 12, 2017. Two members of the Priests Placement Board, the Bishop, and the Dean will have three separate meetings with the following groups in your parish to gather input about the qualities needed in your new pastor: 4 pm meeting with the Parish Staff, Permanent Deacons, and School Principal 5 pm break 6 pm meeting with parish leadership (members of Parish Council, Finance Committee, etc.) 7 pm meeting with all interested parishioners in a Town Hall format to discuss the strengths and challenges of the parish and the qualities needed in their next pastor. Input from parishioners is very imperative in the process. The present pastor and current staff members are asked not to attend this session so as to allow people to express their opinions openly. A Parish Profile is compiled from information received at the parish meetings along with information regarding the parish s mission statement, ministries, finances and other facts about the parish. Prospective pastors who are interested in the parish get a copy of this parish profile to help them in their discernment. Priests who are pursuing a pastorate complete a profile outlining their specific talents and skills and how the Holy Spirit is calling them to serve in their next assignment. Members of the Priests Placement Board will interview specific prospective pastors to determine their eligibility for being pastor of St. Francis Borgia. After sessions of formal prayer and several weeks of discernment, the Priest Placement Board will make a recommendation to Bishop Manz and Cardinal Cupich on which priest they recommend to become the next pastor of St. Francis Borgia. In a consultative manner, Cardinal Cupich will make the final decision about who he will appoint as the next pastor of St. Francis Borgia. This will happen in the Spring. If you have any further questions regarding the priest placement process, please contact the Priests Placement Office at 312-534-5270. Please pray for the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit in the course of selecting a new pastor for your parish. Please know that your input is profoundly needed and will be taken very seriously! TOWN HALL MEETING AT ST. FRANCIS BORGIA PARISH Location: Church Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 7:00 pm Officials of the Archdiocese will be here at St. Francis Borgia to seek input from parishioners on the qualities needed in your next pastor. Please come to this meeting and provide information which will be used to select the next pastor of your parish. Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we have welcomed into our church community Lucas Kolling Jessica Marie Lagioia Aria Musial Giulianna Elizabeth Sirant GOLDEN CLUB MEETING January 12, 2017 Welcome back from the holidays. Your child's original birth certificate (including birth number) and baptismal certificate, as well as your Sunday church envelope number will be required at the time of registration. Copies of these documents will be made in the office. If the child is being registered for grades one through eight, copies of the child's most recent health form and report card are also required. The re-registration form must be completed and the 2017-2018 registration fee must be paid before registration of another child will be accepted. No child will be added to the school roster until all requested materials have been provided. All are welcome to come Wednesday evening and see the effort put into these projects. Great work eighth grade, and special thanks to their teachers Mrs. Testa and Mrs. Gallagher! On Thursday, January 12, the third and fourth grades will go on a field trip to the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art. They will be learning about and identifying different rocks and minerals. There will be an all-school Mass in church at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 13. The third grade will be planning this liturgy. All are welcome to attend. The second quarter ends on Friday, January 13. We're halfway through the school year! Placement exams for area Catholic high schools will take place on Saturday, January 14. Good luck to our eighth graders! Life is Primary RESPECT LIFE A major Vatican document reminds us that the right to life is primary: The teachings of Pope John XXIII, the Second Vatican Council, and Pope Paul VI have given an abundant indication of the concept of human rights as articulated by the Magisterium. Pope John Paul II has drawn up a list of them in the Encyclical Centesimus Annus The first right presented in this list is the right to life, from conception to its natural end, which is the condition for the exercise of all other rights and, in particular, implies the illicitness of every form of procured abortion and euthanasia. CHRISTMAS MIDNIGHT MASS

Z Biurka Księdza Proboszcza... Przeżywamy dzisiaj Święto Objawienia Pańskiego zwane tradycyjnie Świętem Trzech Króli. Święto to przypomina nam misyjne posłannictwo kościoła, którego zadaniem jest zrobić wszystko, aby radosna wieść o przyjściu Zbawiciela dotarła do każdego zakątka ziemi. Przypominam i zapraszam serdecznie do licznego udziału w spotkaniu z Ks. Biskupem John Manz i członkami Rady Kardynała odnośnie wyboru i nominacji nowego proboszcza w parafii Sw. Franciszka Borgia. Spotkanie to odbędzie się w czwartek, 12 stycznia o godz. 7 pm w kościele. Poniżej zamieszczam pozdrowienia i podziękowania od naszego Ojca Rekolekcjonisty Ks. Tomasza Marka z Brazylii. W Nowym Roku niech Chrystus błogosławi Księżom w kapłańskiej posłudze a A za Wasze hojne datki niech Jezus odpłaci, darzy szczęściem, dobrym zdrowiem, łaskami wzbogaci. Cieszę się z możliwości spotkania z każdym z Was i życzę obfitości łask od Bożej Dzieciny. Z Chrystusowym pozdrowieniem o. Tomasz Marek, mccj
