Has this happened between you and friends or family members? Has it ever gotten to the point where you don t even remember what the initial disagreement was about, yet this great wall has arisen between you and the other party which seems impossible to remove as time moves on? That is the premise of the story about two friends, Uzu and Muzu from Kakaruzu. These two were friends for a very long time, since childhood well into adulthood. Then one day, as the two sat in their living room something happened. It was an absolutely silly disagreement over something quite trivial! Yet, from that moment on, the pair decided they now hated each other because each of them thought the other was mistaken about that trivial thing. Rather than resolve the problem they decided to construct a wall down the center of the room. Eventually that wall went outside to serve as a huge barrier separating their families from each other. Generations passed and all sorts of rumors as to what was on the other side of the wall were perpetrated and believed by all the inhabitants of the village. It was believed that anyone crossing over the wall would be devoured by the dragon which lived on the other side. One day a little boy decided that his curiosity would triumph over his fear. He jumped up onto the wall to check out this dragon. All he saw was a little girl playing in a garden. Both children had been led to believe identical stories about the danger on the other side of the wall. They realized they had been lied to!! Care to hear how this story unfolds further? Why not join us at either of the two CityMusic Cleveland intergenerational concerts here at St. Stanislaus on Friday April 19th, either at 10 AM or 7:30 PM. The world renowned composer, of this fabulous work, Avner Dorman, will be in attendance. A narrator will tell us the whole story. The music will delight you. The intergenerational concerts are not just for children.but for all the young at heart. You will immediately think of the walls built between countries, the walls between political parties and religions, between conservatives and liberals, between races and age groups. Don t be afraid to take this story a step further into your own personal world of family and friends. It happens to all of us. Each year CityMusic Cleveland, a professional chamber ensemble, puts on a program which tries to shake people up a bit, to make them better. Some of you will recall last year s project which was a children s opera which the Nazis had young inmates at the Teresenstadt concentration camp stage for the benefit of the Red Cross to fool them into thinking things were just fine for the prisoners. Most of the children were gassed soon after their performances. Luckily, one of the survivors was present at each of our concerts to tell the truth to all who attended. We are privileged to have the musicians who make up CityMusic also teach our own schoolchildren and neighborhood children in after school sessions four days each week. Not many areas of the city or the country or the world are so lucky to have this resource at their disposal. ALL the children who take part in the class excel in their studies, surpassing those who choose not to. Because of the ongoing generosity of both the Third Federal Foundation and the Corrine Dodero Foundation for the Arts and Sciences, this program is provided for at no cost. We are thankful to both foundations and to CityMusic Cleveland for all they do for our children and world. Now we invite all of you to take advantage of this gift by joining us on the 19th. Not only will you hear the performance of the adult orchestra, but at 10 AM you will also hear our own children s orchestra perform. Don t be afraid! Jump the wall and come and let the music touch you. There will be no dragons present in the audience! David Krakowski
Jezu, ufam Tobie! Pierwsze to opis stworzenia. Jezus jednak wiedział, że my - ludzie jesteśmy słabi. "Przynieście szybko najlepszą szatę i ubierzcie go. O. Placyd HOLY LAND ARTICLES This weekend we welcome a family from Palestine who will be selling religious articles in the vestibule to help support the existence of their and other Christian families in the Holy Land and struggle to survive. Over 130 Christian families live in Bethlehem make their living off of a meager tourist trade through the sale of handmade olive wood religious articles. Please take some time to visit their display and possibly purchase something to help these poor families. MASTERSINGERS CONCERT A concert featuring the Mastersingers, Inc. will be featured here at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus on this Sunday, April 14, at 3 PM. Featured works include Mozart s REQUIEM with soloists Joanne Uniatowski, Marian Vogel, JR Fralick, Brian Johnson as well along with the Chagrin Valley Choral Union and Akron MasterSingers and Orchestra. The event is FREE. Other works will be on the program as well, including one specifically commissioned for this concert. Zmartwychwstał Chrystus, Alleluja! śpiewajcie Panu, Alleluja!
Dads Club Penny Raffle The Dads Club is currently sponsoring their annual penny raffle. By entering you will have a chance to win the 4 foot concrete statue of Mary which is now standing in the vestibule! Try your luck and see if you can have her in your garden for this coming May! PEACE GARDEN MEMORIAL BRICKS We recently had another installation of memorial bricks in the parish peace garden, specifically those which were donated last Summer and Autumn. If you would like to include the names of your family or friends in this project please contact the rectory. Cost of each memorial brick is $100. Proceeds from these sales support the work of the Garden Club in keeping our parish complex beautiful, colorful, and green! The cut-off date for this Summer s installation is April 19th. Next installation will be in Autumn. PAMIĄTKOWE CEGIEŁKI Po Wielkanocy w naszym ogrodzie pomiędzy kościołem a klasztorem będziemy instalować pamiątkowe cegiełki. Jeśli ktoś pragnie włączyć w ten projekt imiona swoich bliskich, proszę dzwonić do biura parafialnego. The Lord is risen, Alleluia! Sing out and praise the Lord, Alleluia! KOSCIUSZKO MONUMENT DEDICATION On Sunday, May 5th, 2013, at 2 PM, the Cultural Gardens and Cleveland Museum of Art will dedicate the restored monument of General Thaddeus Kosciuszko in the west gardens of the museum. Please try to attend! We ve come a long way, parishioners! Can you believe that May 10, 2013, will be the 11th Four Eagle Banquet of Honor!? What does it take to make a successful event? A very simple answer... YOU! Whether you attend or not (although we hope you DO attend), there are numerous ways you can help. One way is by providing a Silent Auction item for the event. Before 2008, the Four Eagle event did not have a Silent Auction attached to this event. In 2008, when it was added, there were 28 items on the auction table. Last year, there were 118 auction items! What a difference! And each year when there are more auction items, more money is earned for the event and our parish. Again, how can you help? Do you frequent a restaurant or know an owner of a restaurant? Would you be willing to ask or donate on your own a $50 or $100 gift certificate as a tax deductible donation for this event? Or would you like to create a themed basket for this event... for example, a movie goers basket filled with movie tickets, popcorn, DVDs of movies, and anything else that would fit into that theme. The theme choices are endless, only limited by your imagination! If you have any questions about donating to the silent auction, please contact Sharon Kozak @ 330-467-8532 or sharonkozak@yahoo.com. And, the cost of tickets this year remains at last year s prices: $75 per person or $550 for a table of 8. More information to follow! DYNGUS DAY BASH A SMASHING SUCCESS! The first annual Dyngus Day Bash was more fun than a barrel of monkees! DJKishka rolled out the tunes as revelers searched in vain for the stolen kishka and danced the night away. See all the happy faces! Next year, come and join the fun! Thanks are in order to all the Alumni who made this event a success.
