Saint Francis Borgia Church 8033 W. Addison St. Chicago,IL 60634 773-625-1118 www.saintfrancisborgiachicago.com Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 31, 2016 PRAYER WYD KRAKOW 2016 God, merciful Father, in your Son, Jesus Christ, you have revealed your love and poured it out upon us in the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, We entrust to you today the destiny of the world and of every man and woman. We entrust to you in a special way young people of every language, people and nation: guide and protect them as they walk the complex paths of the world today and give them the grace to reap abundant fruits from their experience of the Krakow World Youth Day. Heavenly Father, grant that we may bear witness to your mercy. Teach us how to convey the faith to those in doubt, hope to those who are discouraged, love to those who feel indifferent, forgiveness to those who have done wrong and joy to those who are unhappy. Allow the spark of merciful love that you have enkindled within us become a fire that can transform hearts and renew the face of the earth. Mary, Mother of Mercy, pray for us Saint John Paul II, pray for us Saint Faustina pray for us

From the Pastor s Desk... The Lord cautions us, as He does in the Parable of the Rich Fool from today s Gospel, that storing up treasure and possessions means that we may be wealthy in the eyes of society, but not in what matters to God. This is one of our ongoing stumbling blocks to being stewards living a Christian life. As I mentioned before, we now have new real vigil candles that are in our Church by the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Image of the Divine Mercy, the by the statue of the Blessed Mother, and in the shrine of All Saints. The Sight of burning votive candles is common in most Catholic churches. The candles are usually placed before statues of saints or at shrines. We encourage you to light the candle in memory of your beloved ones or for the living. Lighting a candle is a way of extending one's prayer and showing solidarity with the person on whose behalf the prayer is offered. In burning candles, our prayers rise to Heaven day and night; prayers for the saint's intercession are also common because of their friendship with God in Heaven. Saints are powerful intercessors. The lighting of candles has been observed since the time of the early martyrs. Rev. Richard Milek Please welcome Fr. Lenny Delgado who will speak at all the Masses on behalf of Cross Catholic Outreach which was founded to create a meaningful link between parishes in America and the priests and nuns working in the Church overseas in the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Central and South America. Please be generous in your response to Father s appeal. Brochures will be provided if you wish to support this worthy Catholic ministry. Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we have welcomed into our church community Nathan Paul Kozakiewicz Sophia Szotko II Anna Kornas and Kamil Okaz II Halina Kaleta and Wojciech Plaza Respect Life Father, As we present our needs to you, We ask you to increase our faith, Free us from anxiety, And give us the constant assurance of your presence And your grace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. RUMMAGE SALE REMINDER The Parish Pastoral Council and the Catholic Women's Club will be sponsoring another Rummage Sale in October. Kindly hold your unneeded but still usable clothing and household items for this event. Please ask your families and friends to do the same. This is a great opportunity for you to help your community and your parish. The more goods we have, the more good we can do.

Our opening day of school is Monday, August 22, 2016. St. Francis Borgia School is Preschool to Grade 8, and is a continually growing parish. We are proud of our important contributions to the community and our tradition of faithful service. With over 60 years of proven academic success, our school is committed to giving our students the best education possible. St. Francis Borgia School will continue to be a vibrant pillar of academic excellence on the northwest side of Chicago in the years to come. Last year, St. Francis Borgia School hosted its Fifth Annual Fall Festival with much success. We are expanding this event with the hope that this will become our main fundraiser. The goal of this event is to raise much-needed funds to support our academic program, improve the technology used by teachers and students daily, as well as to build neighborhood relationships. We are so excited this year to hold our Sixth Annual Fall Festival. This year s event will be held on Thursday, September 22; Friday, September 23; Saturday, September 24; and Sunday, September 25. With nearly 250 children enrolled in the school and the use of great marketing, we expect to have over 2,000+ people attend this fun event each day. Now in our Sixth year, we are looking to make this year s Fall Festival better than ever, and we need your help to make that happen. I am writing to ask for your generosity and help to achieve our fundraising goals. We are looking for donations of various items to manage the food concessions for the event to include: paper products, foam coffee cups, cans of soda, hot dog and hamburger buns, bottled water, polish sausage, Italian sausage, brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, and much more. The Fall Festival staff can come to you and pick up the donations, or you can come to St. Francis Borgia to drop off the donations. If you cannot donate physical food product items, a monetary donation would also be useful to our fundraising goals and to purchase items not able to be donated. If you are interested in supporting St. Francis Borgia s Fall Festival through any donation, please return the enclosed form by September 1, 2016 to ensure having your business listed in our marketing materials and/or banners. St. Francis Borgia School is a qualified tax-exempt organization, and you will receive a post-event tax letter for your purposes. Thank you for considering this request. If you have any questions or would like additional information about the Fall Festival or our school, please contact Chair of the event. Sincerely, Fran Puleo 2016 Fall Festival Chair 773-865-7520 Fran2099@aol.com

Zapraszamy! Ks.
