From the Pastor s Desk... On next Sunday, we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week. There will be a School Open House after the 10:30 am Mass until 1:00 pm. We pray for our students and their families, for the teachers and for all parishioners of St. Francis Borgia who support our school. School News This Week At St. Francis Borgia School... Week of January 23, 2017 Thursday, January 26, is Spirit Wear day. Spirit Wear includes school and gym uniforms, SFB pajama pants, shirts and/or sweatshirts with our school name, and school athletic jerseys. Thursday, January 26, is Pizza Lunch Day!! Yay! There will be an all-school Mass in church at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27. The first grade will be planning this liturgy. All are welcome to attend. The Jr. Beta Club will meet after school on Friday, January 27. On Saturday, January 28, our second graders will receive the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time at 12:00 p.m. in the church. Congratulations to all of them on this first milestone in preparing to make their First Holy Communion! Mass in Church at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 29, will kickoff Catholic Schools Week. The theme is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service. The theme encompasses several concepts that are at the heart of a Catholic education. First, schools are communities small families in their own right, but also members of the larger community of home, church, city and nation. Faith, knowledge and service are three measures by which any school can and should be judged. Open registration for the 2017-2018 school year also begins today. An original birth certificate (including birth number) and baptismal certificate are required for each child for registration. Copies of your original documents will be made in the school office and your original documents returned to you. If a child is being registered for grades one through eight, copies of the child's most recent health forms and report card are also required. Your SFB church envelope number is also needed. A non-refundable registration fee of $100.00 per family is required, along with a nonrefundable tuition deposit of $100.00. Registration for our Extended Day Program (EDP) for new families will also be taking place. Come in and visit the St. Francis Borgia Scholastic Book Fair on Sunday, January 29, held during the school Open House. The Book Fair will be located in Mayall Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The eighth grade Bake Sale will be held on Sunday, January 29, Monday, January 30, and Tuesday, January 31, outside of Room 106. Proceeds from this sale will help pay for their dinner-dance in June. Immediately following Mass, there will be an Open House at school until 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to come in and tour the school. Come meet our teachers and see what's going on in our classrooms! Our annual Book Fair starts this day in Mayall Hall. Come in to see what's new from Scholastic this year! 8th Grade Bake Sale We will be selling baked goods after Masses on Saturday, January 28th, after the 7:00 pm Italian Padre Pio Mass, Sunday after the 7:30 am, 9:00 am, 10:30 am and 12:00 pm Masses. All proceeds go to the 8th - grade class. We will also be selling inside the school during Catholic Schools open house on Sunday. RESPECT LIFE RUMMAGE SALE REMINDER Healing after Abortion Every day, women who have had abortions are coming to the healing of the Lord. One such person has shared the following: [My husband] convinced me to get an abortion. I was of the feeling (although I knew better) that this wasn t really a baby. It was a mass of tissue I was getting rid of. I grieved for a long time when I faced what I had really done. It made me a much sadder person for a while. I made a confession to a Priest, [and] followed his advice to become involved in letting people know that they are carrying a life inside of them. I feel very good about myself now. I am involved in the Pro-Life Movement.
