S c h o o l N e ws This Week At St. Francis Borgia School Week of January 19, 2015 There is no school on Monday, January 19, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Hot diggity dog! Tuesday, January 20, is Hot Dog Lunch! There will be an all-school Mass in church at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 23. The second grade will be planning this liturgy. All are welcome to attend. Mass in Church at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, will kickoff Catholic Schools Week. The theme is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service. The theme encompasses several concepts that are at the heart of a Catholic education. First, schools are communities small families in their own right, but also members of the larger community of home, church, city and nation. Faith, knowledge and service are three measures by which any school can and should be judged. Immediately following Mass, there will be an Open House at school until 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to come in and tour the school. Come meet our teachers and see what's going on in our classrooms! Our annual Book Fair starts this day in Mayall Hall. Come in to see what's new from Scholastic this year! Open registration for the 2015-2016 school year also begins today. An original birth certificate (including birth number) and baptismal certificate are required for each child for registration. Copies of your original documents will be made in the school office and your original documents returned to you. If a child is being registered for grades one through eight, copies of the child's most recent health forms and report card are also required. Your SFB church envelope number is also needed. A non-refundable registration fee of $100.00 per family is required, along with a non-refundable tuition deposit of $100.00. Registration for our Extended Day Program (EDP) for new families will also be taking place. Come in and visit the St. Francis Borgia Scholastic Book Fair on Sunday, January 25, held during the school Open House. The Book Fair will be located in Mayall Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The eighth grade Bake Sale will be held on Sunday, January 25, Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27, outside of Room 106. Proceeds from this sale will help pay for their dinner-dance in June. SAVE THE DATE SFB - FAMILY SUPER BOWL PARTY FEBRUARY 1, 2015 MAYALL HALL DETAILS TO FOLLOW We want to thank all who organized and participated in Fr. Marcin s Farewell. Please pray for him when he is on his way to South Carolina to begin his training in the Boot Camp on Monday, January 19.

Dziękujemy wszystkim którzy zorganizowali i wzięli udział w pożegnaniu Ks. Marcina. Dziękujemy wszystkim którzy wspierają naszą szkołę, a szczególnie rodzicom którzy posyłają do niej swoje dzieci choć wymaga to dużego wyrzeczenia i poświęcenia. Respect Life You Shall Be Like Gods. This original temptation, outlined in the first reading, was a promise that what was right and what was wrong would be up to us; that we could write our own moral law. That s what the tree of the knowledge of good and evil meant, and why Adam and Eve couldn t eat from it. We are all called to know good from evil, but not to decide it. To think we decide it is the error of the prochoice mindset. It s all up to me and my choice, even if it means killing a baby. In the culture of life, on the other hand, we live in the freedom of the children of God, and pattern our lives on the obedience of Jesus that leads to life eternal.
