Streszczenie: Zgodnie z prognozą GUS (z 2008r.) w latach 2008-2035 nastąpi przyspieszony proces starzenia się ludności Polski spowodowany między innymi przedłużeniem przeciętnego trwania życia, rozpowszechnieniem prozdrowotnego stylu życia. Starzenie jest naturalnym procesem, którego konsekwencją jest wzrost prawdopodobieństwa występowania chorób zależnych od wieku. Ograniczenie sprawności fizycznej prowadzi do zwiększenia zależności od otoczenia, pozbawienia radości życia. Brak poczucia sensu życia, stres, brak wsparcia ze strony najbliższych, wpływać mogą na osłabienie układu immunologicznego. Choroby układu krążenia, neurologiczne, onkologiczne, narządu ruchu dominują wśród osób w podeszłym wieku. Wiodącym celem idei aktywnego starzenia się jest przeciwdziałanie wykluczeniu społecznemu i deterioracji zdrowotnej seniorów. Warunkiem zdrowego starzenia się jest zachowanie sprawności przez codzienną aktywność. W opiece zdrowotnej podejmuje działania prewencyjno-profilaktyczne przy uwzględnieniu mechanizmów normalnego starzenia się, nauce pozytywnego kształtowania jego przebiegu. Zadanie aktywizacji intelektualnej, psychicznej i fizycznej przyjmują Uniwersytety Trzeciego Wieku. W ostatnich latach nastąpił wzrost liczby tych instytucji. Pokłada się w nich nadzieje na pobudzenie mobilizacji osób w starszym wieku do większej aktywności. Hipoteza badawcza pracy: Poczucie jakości życia jest wyższe u emerytów podejmujących regularną aktywność. Celem pracy było określenie jakości życia oraz uwarunkowań psychospołecznych jakości życia osób w wieku emerytalnym uczestniczących w zajęciach Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku; porównawcza ocena jakości życia emerytów w zależności od poziomu poczucia koherencji; określenie znaczenia poczucia sensu życia w kształtowaniu jakości życia emerytów. Badanie wykonano na Uniwersytecie Trzeciego Wieku w Gdańsku. UTW powołany został w 1979 r. przez Wojewódzki Ośrodek Gerontologiczny. Obecnie działa jako Stowarzyszenie zwykłe. Badaniom poddano łącznie 101 kobiet w wieku emerytalnym, w tym przebadano 51 kobiet uczestniczek UTW. Jako grupę kontrolną przebadano 50 starszych kobiet pobierających emeryturę, a nie uczestniczących w zajęciach UTW. Utrata dotychczasowego statusu zawodowego, dotychczasowych kontaktów społecznych jest sytuacją stresową wymagającą adaptacji do zmian. Adaptacja, jak potwierdzają wyniki badania, wiąże się z optymistyczną postawą wobec własnego życia, a także z selektywną optymalizacją zachowań i kompensacją ubytków poprzez dopasowanie stylu życia i uczestnictwo w zajęciach Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku.
Postawione hipotezy dotyczyły różnic między kobietami w wieku emerytalnym biorącymi udział w zajęciach UTW a kobietami nie uczestniczącymi w tego rodzaju zajęciach pod względem ich jakości życia, poziomu koherencji, emocji negatywnych w postaci symptomów depresyjnych, postaw prozdrowotnych, poczucia wsparcia i aktywności ruchowej. W dalszej części hipotezy lub pytania badawcze dotyczyły poszukiwania czynników psychospołecznych powiązanych z oceną jakości życia z uwzględnieniem różnic tych zależności pomiędzy grupą UTW a grupą kontrolną. Wyniki wskazują na wyższy poziom jakości życia, poczucia koherencji, częstości zachowań prozdrowotnych, mniejsze zaburzenia depresyjne w grupie osób uczestniczących w zajęciach Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku. Czynnikiem najsilniej różnicującym badane grupy jest poczucie zaradności, czyli zasoby wewnętrzne i wsparcie społeczne oceniane jako wystarczające oraz postawa prozdrowotna wyrażająca się w częściej podejmowanych zachowaniach profilaktycznych. Czynniki związane z większością wymiarów jakości życia to poczucie koherencji, poczucie zaradności, poczucie zrozumiałości, poczucie sensowności, pozytywne nastawienia psychiczne, prawidłowe nawyki żywieniowe, spostrzegane i aktualnie otrzymywane wsparcie społeczne. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań wskazują na efektywność aktywnego sposobu spędzania czasu w postaci uczestnictwa w zajęciach Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku. Abstract According to the forecast GUS (from 2008) in the years 2008 to 2035 will be an accelerated aging of the Polish population due inter alia to the extension of the average life expectancy, the prevalence of healthy lifestyles. Ageing is a natural process, the consequence of which is to increase the probability of age-dependent diseases. Reduction of fitness leads to an increase depending on the environment, deprivation of joy. No sense of life, stress, lack of support from loved ones, can affect the weakening of the immune system. Cardiovascular, neurological, oncology, musculoskeletal diseases dominate among the elderly. The leading goal of the idea of active aging is to prevent social exclusion and deterioration of health of seniors. The condition for healthy aging is to maintain fitness through daily activity. In healthcare, prevention and preventive measures taking into account the mechanisms of normal aging, learning the positive development of its course. The task activation intellectual, mental and physical adopt the Universities of the Third Age. In recent years there are more and more of these institutions. They are put in their hopes of stimulating the mobilization of older people to be more active. The hypothesis of the research work: The quality of life is higher among pensioners taking regular activity. The aim of the study was to determine the quality of life and psychosocial determinants of quality of life of people of retirement age attending classes at the University of the Third Age (UTA). A comparative assessment of the quality of life of retirees depending on the level of sense of coherence; determine the importance of the sense of life in shaping the quality of pensioner s life. The test was performed at the University of the Third Age in Gdansk. UTA was established in 1979 by the Gerontology Regional Centre. The Association is currently operating as usual. The study involved a total of 101 women in the retirement age, including 51 women tested participants UTA. As a control group there were tested 50 elderly women receiving retirement, not attending classes UTA. Loss of current occupational status, current social contacts is a stressful situation that requires adaptation. Adaptation, as confirmed by the results of the study, is associated with an optimistic attitude to their own lives, as well as selective optimization of behavior and compensation of losses by matching the lifestyle and participation in classes at the University of the Third Age. Hypotheses related to differences between women of retirement age taking part in activities UTA and women not participating in such activities in terms of their quality of life, level of
coherence, negative emotions in the form of depressive symptoms, health-related attitudes, a sense of support and activity. The rest of the hypothesis or research questions related to the search for psychosocial factors associated with the evaluation of the quality of life, taking into account differences in the relationship between UTA group and the control group. Hypotheses related to differences between the groups in terms of quality of life and distinguished psychosocial factors, and depending on these factors and quality of life. It has also been the question of the factors differentiating the most studied group. The results show a higher level of quality of life, sense of coherence, frequency of healthy behavior, less likelihood of depression in patients enrolled in classes at the University of the Third Age. The factor most strongly differentiating groups is the sense of resourcefulness, internal resources and social support assessed as adequate and pro-health attitudes expressed in often taken preventive behaviors. Factors associated with most dimensions of quality of life is a sense of coherence, a sense of resourcefulness, a sense of understanding, the sense of meaningfulness, positive mental attitude, proper eating habits, perceived and actually received social support. Results of this study demonstrate the effectiveness of an active way of spending time in the form of participation in classes at the University of the Third Age.
