TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION At the liturgy, we encounter an opportunity to give of our self to God. In response to Christ s total gift of Himself to the Father, we offer our self along with Him. The Offertory Gifts of bread and wine are symbolic emblems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ. On Sundays, this self-giving is accompanied by a collection and procession of the Offertory basket along with the Bread and Wine. This collection is deeply symbolic. It is our personal Tithe of our treasure in support of Christ s local Church (our parish) and designated charities. This is why the collection is placed before the Altar on which the symbolic bread and wine are offered. The offerings represent us! The act of giving from our abundance, and attending to the needs of the poor, opens us up to participation in the spread of God s Kingdom. That is why: Our parish welcomes Fr. Wacław Krzempek S.M.A.! Fr. Wacek presently works in Warsaw. He is a Missionary priest with many years of experience in Africa. He visited our parish 2 years ago during a Mission Presentation. He will be with us for the next few weeks. Please introduce yourself and make him feel at home. This past Friday, All Saints Catholic Academy celebrated it s 6th Graduating Class. We congratulate all the graduates! ASCA has become one of the premier schools in the Archdiocese of Newark. Considering Catholic Education for your child?
