One absence during the classes encompassing 3 hours of lecture and 3 hours of practical classes is acceptable. 2. Description of courses and student work Lecture Tutor Classes content 12-AK-EK-02-S2-2EPO_fs_1 The lectures enable to learn the rules of natural environment as a basis for protection and preservation for future generations. Students are supposed to learn basic ecological concepts and gain knowledge connected with the following issues: 1. Systemic approaches towards natural environment. 2. Ecosystem types and services. 3. Biological diversity, ways of its assessment and its meaning for ecosystems functioning. 4. Ecological meaning of nature resources. 5. Direct and indirect natural environment elements transformations- causes and effects. 6. Global changes and natural environments. 7. Ecological indicators of natural environment condition. 8. Restoring, revitalization, the chances of ecosystems regeneration. Strona 1/5

2 9. The ways of minimalizing the influence of chosen types of projects on the environment. 10. Lifestyles and the natural environment. Historic use of ecosystems- the analysis of needs in the development of human civilization. 2. Methods of specifying and measuring biological diversity. 3. The identification of ecosystems on the example of natural and shaped by man ecosystems. 4. The analysis of renewable fuels potential. 5. The change of climatic conditions of the Upper Silesia region in the light of Strona 2 z 5

3 global warming. 6. The evaluation of the condition of the environment e.g. rivers with the use of biological indicators. 7. Ecological indicators of natural environment conditions. 8. Bankowa 12, Katowice, _fs_1 Student who finishes the module, has acquired knowledge about chosen issues concerning ecological basis for natural environment preservation. He/she knows and understands key terms based on raised problems. A final test w in the form of a test selection -30 questions (4 answers with one key, for which a student can gain 1 point.) Individual grades are obtained according to the developed scale: very good good sufficient 0-18 insufficient Student passes when he/she realizes e-learning classes and passes at least 2 out of 4 parts of the course for 30%. 5 5-3 sufficient 0-4 insufficient Presentation will be graded on the basis of: - the way of its graphic preparation and presentation (max. 3 points), - the use of accessed data (max. 3 points) - identification of environmental threats (max. 2 points) - proper, ecological interference (max. 2 points) Process of verification Additional information Student works in a group.
