2 TEACHING RESULTS AND THE METHODS OF ASSESSING TEACHING RESULTS Module target The aim of the module is to familiarise students with basic elements of the accounting theory as the information system of an enterprise as well as practical aspects of conducting accounting in business entities. Theoretical foundations of accounting cover the following: the essence, functions, and superior principles of accounting; the principles concerning the functioning of ledgers, the principles of constructing a balance as well as an income statement. Legal aspects refer to solutions present in regulations legally binding in Poland which concern accounting in business entities. A student also knows basic notions, principles, and accounting methods resulting from the accounting theory. A student knows basic conditioning and principles of accounting in business entities resulting from binding regulations. A student knows basic principles as regards the functioning of ledgers enabling the registration of business transactions and their economic as well as financial effects in a business entity. A student knows basic principles and the mechanism of constructing a balance and an income statement together with their components; a student also knows the usefulness of the reports for both economic and financial analysis of an enterprise. A student can correctly distinguish and interpret business transactions taking place in an enterprise, and also identify their economic and financial effects. A student can analyse and interpret data registered on balance as well as profit and loss accounts, determine the method of using them to prepare such financial statements as balance, profit and loss accounts.
