Preparing a student in the scope of using standards and algorithms of rescue proceedings in lifethreatening conditions, taking medical rescue actions, shaping the attitude to the student to deepen knowledge and mastering skills in the scope of medical rescue actions. Preliminary requirements Education results Knowledge: K_W01 - knows anatomy nomenclature; K_W02 - defines the framework of the human body in a topographic approach (upper and lower limb, chest, stomach, pelvis, neck, head) and functional approach (osteoarticular system, muscular system, circulatory system, respiratory system, urinary system, sexual systems, nervous system and organs of senses, common integument); K_W09 - characterises particular groups of medicinal substances, their main mechanisms of action, their processing within the system and side effects; K_W26 - differentiates penal, civil and worker responsibility connected with performing the profession of a paramedic; K_W4 - characterises the role and professional functions of a paramedic as well as the role of the patient in the process of health care provision; K_W48 - characterises working conditions and scope of professional actions of a paramedic; K_W49 - defines the aim, essence, indications, contraindications, threats, currently binding principles and structure of performing basic rescue actions; K_W70 - numbers life-threatening symptoms in patients of various ages; K_W76 - recognises life-threatening conditions and defines monitoring of patients by equipment or non-equipment based methods; K_W77 - explains algorithms of resuscitation proceedings BLS and ALS; K_W82 - knows the procedures of handling the dead body of the patient; K_W88 - knows principles of conducting active and passive oxygen therapy in medical rescue. Skills K_U01 - knows anatomy nomenclature and uses the knowledge of topography of a human body; K_U04 - constructs the pattern of using anatomy nomenclature in subject examination; K_U07 - uses the knowledge of physics to define notions in the

2 scope of cell biology, tissues and physiological processes, in particular explaining the influence of external conditions such as temperature, gravitation, pressure, electromagnetic field and ionizing radiation on the human body; K_U28 - knows legal regulations regarding the profession of a paramedic; K_U29 - knows professional, penal and civil responsibility in the scope of health care system and providing medical aid; K_U6 putting on and removes a catheter from peripheral veins; K_U8 - performs pulse oximetry and capnometry; K_U81 - performs tracheal intubation in direct laryngology, without relaxants and performs supplementary ventilation; K_U82 - performs under supervision of a doctor, tracheal intubation in direct laryngology, with relaxants and performs supplementary ventilation; K_U87 - performs automated external defibrillation and restoration of patency with regard to respiratory ducts; K_U89 - recognises complications after pharmacological therapy; K_U100 - recognises states of constant life-threatening; K_U114 - performs active and passive oxygen therapy.
