Their prayer for the coming of the Holy Spirit, which began on Ascension Thursday, ended with the descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday, ten days later. Today, Catholics recall that first novena by praying the Novena to the Holy Ghost between Ascension and Pentecost, asking for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Monday, May 29th is Memorial Day It is a National Holiday. The Parish Office will be closed on Friday May 26th and Monday May 29th. Parish picnic will be held on September 10th. On May 27, 2017, seven men will be ordained to the Priesthood for service in the Archdiocese of Newark. All our priests celebrate anniversaries this May. Fr. Zenon Boczek SDS May 25, 1996 (21 Years) Fr. Paweł Doliński SDS May 24, 1997 (20 Years) Fr. Andrzej Kujawa SDS May 31, 2008 (9 Years) Please keep all priests in your prayers! The Ascension of Jesus Christ is meaningful for several reasons: 1) It signaled the end of His earthly ministry. God the Father had lovingly sent His Son into the world at Bethlehem, and now the Son was returning to the Father. The period of human limitation was at an end. 2) It signified success in His earthly work. All that He had come to do, He had accomplished. 3) It marked the return of His heavenly glory. Jesus' glory had been veiled during His sojourn on earth, with one brief exception at the Transfiguration. 4) It symbolized His exaltation by the Father. The One with whom the Father is well pleased was received up in honor and given a name above all names. 5) It allowed Him to prepare a place for us. 6) It indicated the beginning of His new work as High Priest and Mediator of the New Covenant. 7) It set the pattern for His return. When Jesus comes to set up the Kingdom, He will return just as He left-literally, bodily, and visibly in the clouds Currently, the Lord Jesus is in heaven. The Scriptures frequently picture Him at the right hand of the Father-a position of honor and authority. Christ is the Head of the Church, the giver of spiritual gifts. UROCZYSTOŚĆ WNIEBOWSTĄPIENIA PAŃSKIEGO Czwartek, 25 maja 2017 r. Wstąpienie do nieba zmartwychwstałego Jezusa Chrystusa. W czasie rozłąki z ciałem przed swoim zmartwychwstaniem odwiedził je w otchłani i zapowiedział im rychłe wybawienie. Dzisiaj spełnia obietnicę i triumfalnie wprowadza je do nieba. Wielu świętych miało szczególne nabożeństwo do Matki Bożej Wspomożycielki Wiernych. Jej słynny wizerunek w Turynie został namalowany na zamówienie św. Jana Bosko, który oprócz salezjanów założył także zgromadzenie sióstr Córek Matki Bożej Wspomożenia Wiernych.
