Our Parish School: We are part of an excellent co-sponsored elementary school: All Saints Academy. For information call: Religious Education For Children: CCD classes are held every Sunday from September through April at 9:15 am. Classes are conducted in our school building. Confessions: Daily Monday to Saturday following the 7:00 am Mass. Saturday afternoons at 4:00 pm. Sacrament Of The Sick: Sick Calls or other Emergency Calls should be made to the rectory at any time. Arrangements can also be made for regular visitations at home or hospital for Holy Communion and/or Confession. We urge you to keep us aware of parishioners who are ill in the hospital or at home. Marriages: Please make arrangements at least one year in advance. Couples are urged to solemnize their vows at a Nuptial Mass. Baptisms: The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated each month on the First Sunday (in English) and on the Third Sunday (in Polish). A required Baptismal Program for Parents is conducted at 1:00 pm on the second Sunday of the month in Polish and on the last Sunday in English. Novenas: Every Thursday Evening to Divine Mercy following the 7:00 pm Mass. If you are unable to attend, the march will be broadcast on EWTN ( Channel 135 on Comcast.) Join the marchers with your prayers! Pillars of Mt. Carmel On Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015 we will be honoring some outstanding individuals for their life-long service and generosity to Mt. Carmel Parish. There will be a special Mass of Thanksgiving at 12:15 PM followed by dinner in our Parish Center. Tickets to this event are $ An Ad Journal will also be created. Reservations may be made by using the attached form. One of our Pillars + Rev Thaddeus Zaorski Fr. Ted served our parish almost his entire Priesthood. Ordained on May 18, 1940, he came to Mt. Carmel as his first assignment. He served here for 24 years. In 1964 he was assigned as Pastor to St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr Church in Newark. In 1968, he returned to Mt. Carmel as Pastor. It was during his 14-year Pastorate that the Second Vatican Council directives came into fruition. It was during his Pastorate that the Parish celebrated its Diamond Jubilee, America celebrated its 200th Anniversary and the Church elected its First Polish Pope. Fr. Ted was a man of family values and oldfashioned service as a Priest. His lasting material gift to the parish was his tireless efforts to raise monies for a new parish center. Although he would not be the one to build it, it was through Fr. Ted s efforts that land was purchased and a fund of more than 2 Million Dollars would be created to build the Parish Center we now enjoy. In 1982 he retired and took up residence in the Little Sisters of the Poor residence in Woodbridge where he served as chaplain to the Nuns. In 1997, Fr. Ted went home to heaven. Zainteresowanych zamówieniem intencji prosimy o kontakt z kancelarią parafialną. OKRES ZWYKŁY w ciągu roku Jest to o swego rodzaju chwila odpoczynku dla Kościoła. Jest to najdłuższy okres liturgiczny zawierający 34 niedziele zwykłe. Podzielony jest na dwie części. Pierwsza: krótsza (ok. 8-9 niedziel) trwa od niedzieli Chrztu Pańskiego do Środy Popielcowej, zaś druga: od Niedzieli Zesłania Ducha Świętego do I Niedzieli Adwentu. Rodzi się zatem wątpliwość: po co nam Okres Zwykły? Przecież tyle jest świąt i wspomnień, które należałoby zawrzeć w roku kościelnym. I właśnie tu kryje się tajemnica Okresu Zwykłego - jest on tak słabo poznany przez nas. A przecież w czasie tego okresu w liturgii wspominamy tylu świętych, obchodzimy święta i uroczystości maryjne. Jest to czas kiedy głębiej poznajemy życie Jezusa, Jego działalność; dzieje się to głównie poprzez Liturgię Słowa. Okres Zwykły oddziela niejako dwa najważniejsze obchody Kościoła: Narodzenie Chrystusa oraz Paschę - Zmartwychwstanie Pańskie. I właśnie czas ten, także przez swoją długość, uczy nas pewnej tęsknoty za ważnymi uroczystościami. CHRZEST PAŃSKI W niedzielę po uroczystości Objawienia Pańskiego przypada święto Chrztu Pana Jezusa. Zamyka ono okres świętowania Bożego Narodzenia. Najstarszej tradycji tego święta należy szukać w liturgii Kościoła wschodniego, ponieważ chrzest Jezusa nie posiadał w liturgii rzymskiej oddzielnego święta. Teksty modlitw związane ze świętem Chrztu Pańskiego odzwierciedlają bardzo dokładnie i szczegółowo przekazy ewangelijne. Podkreślają przy tym związek tego święta z uroczystością Objawienia Pańskiego. Chrystus już jako dorosły, 30-letni mężczyzna, przychodzi nad brzeg Jordanu, by z rąk Jana Chrzciciela, swojego Poprzednika, przyjąć chrzest. Chociaż sam nie miał grzechu, nie odsunął się od grzesznych ludzi: wraz z nimi wstąpił w wody Jordanu, by dostąpić oczyszczenia. W ten sposób uświęcił wodę. W dniu swojego chrztu Jezus został przedstawiony przez swojego Ojca jako Syn posłany dla dokonania dzieła zbawienia. Misję Chrystusa potwierdza swym świadectwem Bóg. Zamknięte przez grzech Adama niebiosa otwierają się, na Jezusa zstępuje Duch Święty. Z nieba daje się słyszeć głos: Tyś jest mój Syn umiłowany, w Tobie mam upodobanie. Od uroczystego aktu chrztu Chrystus rozpoczął swoją misję nauczycielską. Jezus miał wtedy trzydzieści lat, gdyż dopiero od tego wieku zwyczaj żydowski pozwalał występować publicznie przed ludem i nauczać. Uważano, że od trzydziestu lat rozpoczyna się pełnia dojrzałości męskiej. W tym wydarzeniu mamy też pierwsze w historii świata pojawienie się w postaci widzialnej całej Trójcy Świętej: Bóg Ojciec przemawia, Syn Boży jest w postaci ludzkiej, a Duch Święty pojawia się nad Nim w postaci gołębicy.
