For information call: 201-443-8384 Religious Education For Children: CCD classes are held every Sunday from September through April at 9:15 am. Classes are conducted in our school building. Confessions: Daily Monday to Saturday following the 7:00 am Mass. Saturday afternoons at 4:00 pm. Sacrament Of The Sick: Sick Calls or other Emergency Calls should be made to the rectory at any time. Arrangements can also be made for regular visitations at home or hospital for Holy Communion and/or Confession. We urge you to keep us aware of parishioners who are ill in the hospital or at home. Marriages: Please make arrangements at least one year in advance. Couples are urged to solemnize their vows at a Nuptial Mass. Baptisms: The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated each month on the First Sunday (in English) and on the Third Sunday (in Polish). A required Baptismal Program for Parents is conducted at 1:00 pm on the second Sunday of the month in Polish and on the last Sunday in English. It is named after the Roman goddess Maia, said to be the mother of Hermes, or Mercury. The Romans saw it as love s month, while in England, more practical farmers called it Three Milks, since the cows grazing on springtime s bounty could produce at a phenomenal rate. Old customs die hard, and Christians have never made peace with Maytime frolics. No wonder that popular tradition dedicated the month s prayers and devotions to Mary, although we cannot lose sight of the fact that the liturgy always has Easter at the center of celebration. Recent developments have enriched Mary s place in a cycle of feast days woven through the whole year, dedicated Saturday as a weekly day for devotion, and highlighted Mary s role in the Advent story. In fact, every day of the year Evening Prayer centers on the singing of Mary s Canticle of Praise. The fifty days of Easter culminate on Pentecost with Mary, present of course for Christ s birth, waiting in the upper room for the birth of the church. THE SURLY BIRD Some doctors say that cheerful people resist disease better than grumpy ones. The surly bird catches the germ. Anonymous Mothers Day is next Sunday You may register your mother, (living or deceased) for the special Masses on that weekend by using the envelope in your parishioner package, or by obtaining an envelope at the church entrances. You may also memorialize a special Blue Mothers Day Candle for your mother by reserving one from our volunteers. The offering is $5.00. These candles will burn on the Main Altar on Mothers Day weekend. May is the month of Mary We have Marian Devotions each week at OLMC. English language devotions take place after 7 PM Tuesday Mass. Polish Language devotions take place after the 7 PM Thursday Mass. Also at 3:00 PM each Sunday Mary is the best of Mothers, our safest confidant and in fact the very motive of our hope: she obtains all she asks for and her prayer is always heard. TO OUR LADY Holy Mary, bring help to the miserable; strengthen those who are afraid; comfort those who mourn; pray for the world at large; plead the cause of the clergy; intercede for the devout. May all who pay homage to your holy name experience your powerful help. The (old) Breviary Coming in June! June 7 is the Feast of Corpus Christi. We honor the presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Here at Mt. Carmel, we have special devotions after the 10:45 AM Mass. We set up 4 Altars as part of a Eucharistic Procession. This year, we will be setting the Altars outside on the 4 sides of the church. We need volunteers to decorate these altars. Please see Msgr. Ron if you are interested. (We will also have the public town procession. More info to follow. ) Etiquette in the Church Sunday Mass is the gathering of God s family to Praise, Worship, Thank and Petition God, our loving Father; along with Jesus, Our Lord and Savior; as we are led and filled by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are called to worship as a community and we should seek to help one another to pray. We can help each other by being thoughtful. Please leave your cell phone in the car or put it on silent mode. Please dress appropriate to the event. We have come to worship, not attend a sports event. Refreshments are not needed. (If water is needed for a person with a medical problem, that is understandable.) Please leave chewing gum outside. (Kindly do not stick it on the pews.) If it is rainy, please leave your umbrellas in the receptacles by the doors. Kindly put the kneelers up and down gently. Please return the missalettes to the bookstand you took them from. Please take all personal items home with you. We must accept the Kingdom of God as a little child. All Children are welcome to our services! However, if your child is having a bad hair day, feel free to bring him or her to the main entrance area. There are pews to sit on and you can attend the service from that area. (We also suggest that sitting up front helps the child to see what is happening and might better hold their interest.) If you would like the Priest or Eucharistic Minister to bring Communion to you, please sit in the front pews. At Communion time just stand or signal the Priest and he will come to you first. Any special needs or requests: Please contact one of the Sacristans or the Priests prior to the Mass. Uroczystość Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej Polski (w tym roku z racji niedzieli, przeniesiona została na 4 maja) Od wieków losy narodu polskiego wiązały się z dziejami Kościoła. W kościele katolickim szczególnie kult Matki Bożej odgrywał ważną rolę w kształtowaniu się ducha patriotycznego i religijnego Narodu. Maryja zawsze czuwała nad wiernymi. Nie tylko w spokojnych latach, ale i w trudnych chwilach. Nie opuściła Polaków podczas "potopu szwedzkiego", w czasach zaborów, powstań i wojen. To właśnie Ona dodawała sił całemu Narodowi, jednoczyła go, zagrzewała do walki. Symbolem wolności narodowej i religijnej stała się właśnie Matka Boża Częstochowska na Jasnej Górze. W 1655 roku Szwedzi napadli na Rzeczpospolitą. Ojczyzna nie była na to przygotowana. Naród był skłócony, szlachta podzielona. Sytuacja doprowadziła do zajęcia kraju przez Szwedów. Przekazy mówią, że 8 listopada 1655 roku wojska wroga stanęły pod murami Jasnej Góry. Najeźdźcy byli przekonani, iż twierdza się podda równie szybko jak reszta kraju. Wbrew zdrowemu rozsądkowi, Polacy oddani Matce Bożej, postanowili stawić czoła ogromnej armii wroga i bronić się do ostatniego żołnierza. Niewielka armia Maryi odniosła zwycięstwo. Wydarzenie to miało zatem nie tylko znaczenie polityczne ale również religijne. Król Jan Kazimierz docenił opiekę Matki Boskiej i 1 kwietnia 1656 roku złożył uroczyste ślubowanie w Katedrze Lwowskiej, oddając kraj pod jej władanie. Od tej chwili Maryja stała się patronką i Królową Polski. W 1962 roku papież Jan XXIII ogłosił Maryję Królową Polski. Została ona patronką Polski wraz ze św. Wojciechem, biskupem męczennikiem i św. Stanisławem. Święto rozpoczyna w kościołach katolickich nabożeństwa ku czci Maryi z codziennie śpiewaną Litanią Loretańską i pieśniami maryjnymi. Nabożeństwa majowe są w Polsce bardzo popularne i gromadzą rzesze wiernych. Maryjo Królowo Polski - jestem przy Tobie, pamiętam, czuwam Maj - miesiącem Maryi Pragniemy przypomnieć, że maj poświęcony jest Najświętszej Maryi Pannie. W sposób szczególny chcemy ją uczcić przez odmawianie Litanii Loretańskiej. Nabożeństwo majowe w języku angielskim - wtorki po Mszy św. o 7:00 PM. Nabożeństwo majowe w języku polskim czwartki po Mszy św. o 7:00 PM oraz niedziele o 3:00 PM. KONSTYTUCJA 3 MAJA 224 rocznica uchwalenia Konstytucji 3 Maja. Dziś po Mszy św. zapraszamy o godz. 12:30 PM - na Akademię w Centrum Parafialnym. Uroczystość zorganizowali uczniowie Polish Cultural Society działającego przy High School w Bayonne. DZIEŃ MATKI W następną niedzielę, Msze św. sprawowane będą w intencjach wszystkich Mam. W ten sposób, będziemy mogli upamiętnić również nasze Mamy. Koperty na Msze św. zostały wysłane w pakiecie, jak również możemy je znaleźć przy wyjściu z kościoła. Przy bocznym ołtarzu Matki Bożej Szkaplerznejzapłoną niebieskie świece. Można je zamówić w ten weekend przy wyjściach z kościoła (ofiara $5).
