From the Pastor s Desk... It is hard to believe that I have been at St. Francis Borgia Parish for five years already and my first six year term is up June 30, 2017. It is an Archdiocesan policy that every Diocesan Priest is participating in The Catholic Leadership 360 Review process approximately every five years. So I will participate in this process now hoping that it will help me to be a better priest and pastoral minister. Also, an Additional Parish wide survey is part of my review process, and I want to ask Lay Leadership and ordinary parishioners to participate in this survey. To do that, please read the letter below from the Bishop and instructions how to access the survey. Thank you and remember that this is the year of God s Mercy. Rev. Richard Milek

Mark Your Calendars Saturday, October 8th, at the 5:00 pm Mass we will be celebrating the Feast of St. Francis Borgia along with the 10th anniversary of our Prince of Peace Adoration Chapel, with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament. The celebrant will be The Most Rev. Bishop Joseph Perry, Director of the PJPII Archdiocesan Eucharistic Adoration Association. Ten years ago Bishop Perry consecrated our Chapel upon opening. October 7th, Friday we will have 24 hours of Adoration. The chapel will be open Friday as usual but will remain open through the night. The Blessed Sacrament will be removed at 4:00 pm Saturday, Oct. 8 and brought to the Church for the procession. It is important that every hour is covered by at least two adorers. Please consider taking part in these 24 hours of Adoration. Let us take time out from our busy schedules, to pray for peace, and offer prayers of Thanksgiving for the many blessings given to our parish and lives. Remember in prayer our priests and seminarians as well. The sign-up book will be in the gathering space after all Masses September 25, October 2. Thank you for your prayers. Respect Life From a former abortion worker "All [the clients] were told about the procedure itself was that they would experience slight cramping similar to menstrual cramps, and that was it. They were not told about the development of the baby. They were not told about the pain that the baby would be experiencing or the physical effects or the emotional effects that it would have on them. They had no idea who was going to be there to help them when they fell apart afterwards. They were taken into the room then, and, as I said, there was no counseling done. These women basically had no idea what they were getting themselves into." - Testimony of Deborah Henry, former Abortion Provider The Pet Blessing will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 12:00 pm in the Padre Pio Plaza. Catechetical Sunday Catechetical Sunday was on September 18, 2016. For the pastoral activity of the Church, the cooperation of a great many people is needed so that communities as well as individuals may advance to full maturity in faith and continually show forth their faith through the celebration of the liturgy, study, and through their manner of life. Enlightened by God s Word and the teaching of the Church, catechists impart to others the formation to live their lives as followers of Jesus Christ. The St. Francis Borgia School teachers and the Religious Education catechists received a special blessing as their respective school year commenced to aid them in their ministry of teaching and inspiring our parish children about the Catholic faith. We bless the name of the Lord for giving us those who teach the Catholic faith and pray that through the Holy Spirit they will receive the grace they need in their service to the Church and to our parish. Ruthanne Swiatkowski Director of Religious Education The RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a spiritual journey for those who wish to be baptized in the Catholic faith and also for those already baptized Catholic who would like to receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation. Also, RCIA is for those who were baptized in another Christian faith and wish to make a profession of faith to the Catholic Church. Classes for the RCIA will be held Thursday evenings at 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Religious Education Center, Schoolroom 101, beginning in October. For more information, please contact Ruthanne Swiatkowski in the Religious Education Office at (773) 625-1705. Biskupa Jana Manz w którym prosi on parafian o udział w tej ankiecie. Wyniki ankiety zostaną przedstawione mnie jako pomoc do poznania i udoskonalenia mojej pracy duszpasterskiej a także Ks. Biskupowi i Radzie Personalnej Ks. Arcybiskupa.
