RESPECT LIFE On May 7, 2005, Pope Benedict XVI said the following in a homily in Rome: The freedom to kill is not true freedom, but a tyranny that reduces the human being to slavery. In our day, some try to justify the killing of the unborn by appealing to freedom of choice. Tragically, however, women getting abortions feel that they have no freedom and no choice. They feel trapped, and this is why the pro-life movement provides alternatives to abortion. Moreover, this freedom to kill leaves no freedom or choice for the child who is killed. Freedom is not the ability to do whatever we want; freedom is the power to do what is right, to always respect the truth and to choose life. From the Pastor s Desk... Today we begin celebrating Catholic Schools Week. We pray for all who support the catholic education and especially for our principal, teachers, parents, students, parishioners and all who support Saint Francis Borgia Catholic School. We invite all of you to our school s open house. Rev. Richard Milek Please Make Your Gift to the 2017 Annual Catholic Appeal Love Your Neighbor As Yourself This week, many parish families will be receiving a letter from Cardinal Cupich asking that you make a pledge to the 2017 Annual Catholic Appeal. We ask that you respond as generously as possible. The Appeal supports both Parish and Archdiocesan ministries and services. The Appeal funds services that are of great help to ministries here in our Parish. For example, Appeal funds support (IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO INSERT SOME OF THE MINISTRIES IN YOUR PARISH THAT RECEIVE TRAINING OR OTHER FORMS OF SUPPORT FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE see the list in the manual or on the website). This year, the theme of the Appeal is Love Your Neighbor As Yourself. We have all received God s love. By financially supporting the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we help to extend God s love to many, many others. As you review the mailing from Cardinal Cupich, please note the ministries and services funded by the Appeal, including the ones that directly support the work of our parish. Then please give generously. Note, when our parish reaches its goal of $ 40,287 in paid pledges, 100% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our Parish.
School News This Week At St. Francis Borgia School... Week of January 30, 2017 St. Francis Borgia School will celebrate Catholic Schools Week January 30 through February 3. The theme is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service. The theme encompasses several concepts that are at the heart of a Catholic education. First, schools are communities small families in their own right, but also members of the larger community of home, church, city and nation. Faith, knowledge and service are three measures by which any school can and should be judged. Activities and events are planned for each day. The eighth grade Bake Sale will be held on Monday, January 30, and Tuesday, January 31, outside of Room 106. Proceeds from this sale will help pay for their dinnerdance in June. On Tuesday, January 31, group activities at SFB will have their pictures taken by the photographer for the yearbook. On Thursday, February 2, the eighth graders will have their graduation pictures taken. The Drama Club will meet after school on Thursday, February 2. There will be an all-school Mass in church at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 3. The eighth grade will be planning this liturgy. All are welcome to attend. On Sunday, February 5, the Parents Association will be hosting a Family Super Bowl Party in Mayall Hall. Congratulations to the following St. Francis Borgia alums who made the honor roll for first semester at Guerin Prep High School: First Honors: Sarah Cardia, Anthony Joyce, Charese Ifkovits, Grace Marnul, Margaret Sampson, Ninneth Chinchilla, Brandi Gagnon Second Honors: Gabriella Lappo, Tiffany Jacob MANNA CERTIFICATES Do you shop at Jewel, Kohl s, Target, Walgreens? Z Biurka Księdza Proboszcza... W tym tygodniu przeżywamy Tydzień Szkół Katolickich pragnę zatem prosić Was o modlitwę w intencji naszej szkoły. Proszę również wszystkich rodziców, aby rozważyli możliwość zapisania swoich dzieci do naszej szkoły i przekazania informacji o naszej szkole wszystkim bliskim i znajomym. Ks. Pierwszy Piątek Miesiąca 3 luty 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm - Spowiedz; 7:00 pm - Msza Św. z Nabożeństwem do Serca Pana Jezusa. Pierwsza Sobota Miesiąca 4 luty 6:00 pm Różaniec; 6:30 pm - Msza Św. i Nowenna do Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej. Po Mszy Św. zmiana tajemnic różańcowych.

Fortunately, he's just in time for dinner and was treated to the best fish and chips he's ever had. After dinner, he goes into the kitchen to thank the chefs. He is met by two brothers, "Hello, I'm Brother Michael, and this is Brother Francis." "I'm very pleased to meet you. I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful dinner. The fish and chips were the best I've ever tasted. Out of curiosity, who cooked what?" Brother Michael replied, "Well, I'm the fish friar." Father turns to the other brother and says, "Then you must be..." "Yes, I'm afraid I'm the chip monk..." Date/Time Celebrant Lector Eucharistic Ministers Altar Servers Sat. Feb. 4 5:00pm Sun.
