From the Pastor s Desk... We remember the victims and their families on 15th Anniversary of September 11th by praying together for peace in the whole world, including the St. Francis Prayer for Peace. We will celebrate Seminary Sunday on September 17th and 18th at which time we will pray for vocations in our parish. The second collection that weekend will be for the Seminary. Also, our parish will participate in the Teaching Parish Sunday. We will have six Seminarians from Mundelein coming to our parish on some Sundays, so they get a taste of the parish life that will prepare them to serve parish communities in the future. They are coming for the first time this Sunday, September 11th. Please welcome them with open hearts. I want to thank the parishioners who were willing to serve as The Parish Committee members. Rev. Richard Milek I Grzegorz Kopiczko and Marta Balagulska Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we have welcomed into our church community Giavanna Rosalia Myers Juliet Elizabeth O Meara The RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a spiritual journey for those who wish to be baptized in the Catholic faith and also for those already baptized Catholic who would like to receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation. Also, RCIA is for those who were baptized in another Christian faith and wish to make a profession of faith to the Catholic Church. Classes for the RCIA will be held Thursday evenings at 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Religious Education Center, Schoolroom 101, beginning in October. For more information, please contact Ruthanne Swiatkowski in the Religious Education Office at (773) 625-1705. Do you believe in miracles? During the week of September 19-23 Immaculate Conception Church and St. Gerald Parish are hosting an event for everyone in the area. If you have an I will believe it when I see it attitude, don t miss this event. We have invited Tim Francis to speak on the Eucharist. More questions call to Mary at 773 909 8090 Catholic Women s Club "Welcome Back" Meeting, Monday, September 12th in Stokes Center. Doors open at 11:30 am, Rosary at 12:30 pm, followed by a brief meeting and a light luncheon. Hope to see you there. Any questions contact Mary McGeean 773-589-2225 Respect Life An Abortion Testimony The following words were written by one of the many women whose abortion testimonies can be found at www.priestsforlife.org/testimonies. I went to Planned Parenthood for a pregnancy test. They didn't do ANY counseling about fetal development or alternatives. An abortion was "the answer" just because I didn't want to be pregnant yet, even though I was happily married and had no financial problems, etc. etc. I was treated like a cow. There was no explanation AT ALL by the abortionist regarding ANYTHING that could have helped me think twice about "my" decision to have an abortion. Of course, it wasn't really "my" decision at all. Everybody else decided for me. My husband didn't want me to abort, but all the professionals "knew better what was best for me." I still cannot tell anyone else about it, even though it's been over 20 years now. It's made me very pro-life, because I KNOW the deceit that goes on in so-called "counseling." Not one day goes by that I don't think about it with regret and sorrow. I also have accepted the Lord as my Savior, and that has helped.

WELCOME TO ST. FRANCIS BORGIA PARISH This weekend our parish welcomes six seminarians from Mundelein Seminary. St. Francis Borgia is one of 25 parishes chosen to participate in the "Teaching Parish Sunday Program" of Mundelein Seminary. These seminarians will be visiting with us on some Sundays during their school year. We welcome these men with open arms and realize the privilege and importance to participate in their formation for priesthood. Deacon Przemek and the Parish Committee, Cindy and Irek Mocarski, Bob and Ceil Brieske, and Linda Evangelista will be introducing them to the different ministries of our parish life, reflecting and praying with them. The purpose of this is to help them understand the gift of self to Parish life. As a Teaching Parish, we accept the responsibility to pray for them and ask God to bless them with the graces to meet the many challenges of this world, so as the Apostles did, they can go forth and spread the Good news! Hello, my name is James Flattery, and I am from the Diocese of Davenport. I am currently in my first year of Theology studies at Mundelein Seminary. Before coming to Mundelein I completed my Pre-Theology requirements at Conception Seminary in Missouri. My home town is Colfax, Iowa which is thirty minutes to the east of Des Moines on Interstate 80. I look forward to working and learning with you. My name is Michael Purszke, and I currently attend Mundelein Seminary with the hopes of being ordained for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2019. Before beginning my seminary journey, I worked as a licensed counselor and therapist in the Chicagoland area where I served a variety of populations such as traumatic brain injury survivors. I also have experience with marital and couples counseling. In my spare time, I enjoy art and literature, drawing, and nature walks. My favorite saints are Padre Pio, Theresa of Avila, and of course, St. Michael. My name is Will Stuever. I was born and raised in a small town of about 1,000 people just outside of Wichita, KS. After high school, I attended Wichita State University, where I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice, with plans to join the Wichita Police Department. Before entering the police academy, though, I discerned through prayer that God's will is for me to be in the seminary. I am currently in my second year of pre-theology at Mundelein Seminary, studying for the Diocese of Wichita, and I'm very thankful for the many blessings so far in my seminary career, and I look forward to many more in the future. Hello! My name is Louie Cunningham, and I am studying for the Archdiocese of Seattle. My grandparents (Lou DeFranco and Theresa [Loftus]) are from the Chicago area, and so it has been nice to be back and retrace some of their steps! I am in my third year of theological studies and entered the seminary right after graduating from high school, attending college seminary at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. I enjoy photography, singing, hiking the mountains in the Pacific Northwest, exercising, and, as a real Seattleite, coffee! I look forward to meeting all of you! Zachariah Chichester, I am in my 3rd year of theology, Mundelein Seminary. Studying for the Diocese of Albany, NY. I am here with one other seminarian from my diocese. Thank you for the opportunity to spend some time with all of you! My name is Ton Nguyen. I am from Vietnam and I am currently in my second year of Theology studying for the Archdiocese of Chicago. I am very happy to be here with you this year, and I am looking forward to knowing you. The language might be a barrier for communication but the language of love will unite us together in God s house. God bless!
