Page Two October 12, 2008 Spiritual Reflection You are invited to We receive invitations every day. Many of us receive dozens of e-mails inviting us to buy or become part of unheard things that promise to make our lives much better, almost immediately. We receive junk mail too, offering us everything from free credit cards and loans to opulent catalogs. It can be easy for us to believe that if we accepted some of these invitations, life will be better for us. We may have tried and found temporary satisfaction, but then a letdown and even deeper dissatisfaction. What works? How can we attain the peace and satisfaction that we crave? Becoming one with God is the only thing that will do it! We need to screen our invitations and accept mostly the ones that can lead us to that unity. In this weekend s first reading, we hear about the web that is woven over all nations. From our human imperfection, it is difficult for us to see the God that comes to save us. It is difficult for us to understand how we can live in the house of the LORD all the days of our lives. God continues to invite us. In today s Gospel, we hear about those who were invited to a wedding banquet but were unwilling to come. Not only that, but they killed the son of the one inviting them. We see that they come to a bad end. Their own greed and resentment made it hard for them to accept their invitation. They were left in the darkness outside, wailing and grinding their teeth. How wonderfully things can turn out when we decide to accept God s invitation. How wonderful our lives can be when we invite God to draw nearer to us, realizing that God wants very much to be part of our lives and part of our families. May we draw nearer to the God who longs to be close to us. Have a good week! ZAPROSZENI NA UCZTĘ... W dzisiejszej przypowieści Pan Jezus nawiązuje do zwyczajów, jakie panowały w ówczesnych czasach w Palestynie. Bóg zaprasza wszystkich do współpracy z sobą, czyli do swego Kościoła. Jest przede wszystkim zaproszeniem do wspólnoty z Nim. Tym zaproszeniem On nas chce uhonorować i umieścić przy sobie. Pan Jezus chce, byśmy zamieszkali w Jego domu razem z Nim. On przecież jest celem i sensem naszego życia. Idzi

Page Four October 12, 2008 THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported Harvest Fest 2008. By all accounts, it was a HUGE success! An event like this cannot take place without the mutual cooperation of the students, teachers, parents, parishioners and the entire St. Priscilla community. Thank you to Fr. Idzi for all his support and encouragement during the past several months. Thank you to Ralph Kopkowski, who coordinated the event and all the members of the Core Team who did a marvelous job of helping to organize and coordinate this event. A word of thanks must be extended to the rectory and school office Mary Brown, Kathy Iversen, Anna Adamowski and Anna Knap, for all their wonderful cooperation during some hectic moments. To all our parents, students and parish volunteers, thank you for set up, working the various spots during the Harvest Fest, and of course, for clean up. Finally, thanks goes to Al and Richard for the many last minute moves that had to take place during the festival. It just goes to show many hands make light work; it s the St. Priscilla way! Recently, the school received three sizeable donations. On behalf of the school, I would like to say thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Roman Jurkowski for their donation of $500.00 and to Mr. Joseph and Mr. Kevin Mirus, who donated $1,000.00 in memory of their father, Mr. Joseph V. Mirus, Sr., who passed away last December. Finally, Vince s Restaurant donated $100.00 for the school. St. Priscilla School is very blessed that so many people look upon it so favorably!
