In many ways, the church is still being born. Only when we all know the peace Jesus offered in today s Gospel will we really know the fullness of the Holy Spirit. St. Paul assures us in today s second reading that all of us have been given to drink of the one Spirit. When we look around us in the church we should see everyone. But we don t. Not yet. What is holding us back from fully embracing the one Body of Christ? When will we see our differences as manifestations of the same Holy Spirit? HOLY ROSARY SODALITY COMMUNION MASS We welcome The Holy Rosary Sodality, to our Basilica on Sun., May 15th at 8:15am Liturgy for their Annual Communion Mass. This organization has served our parish since 1888 and we are grateful for their dedication and service to our St. Joseph Community throughout the years. Breakfast will follow in St. Joseph School cafeteria. CONGRATULATIONS REV. CHARLES BOROWSKI The 50th Anniversary of Ordination for Rev. E. J. Borowski will be observed on Sunday, May 22nd at 3:00pm at St. Hedwig Church of St. John Paul II Parish, Southbridge, MA. Reception will follow the Mass at the Southbridge Hotel and Conference Center. Ordained on 5/19/66, Fr. Borowski has served in various capacities in many area parishes. He is currently the Weekend Assistant at our Basilica. Congratulations to Fr. 3 Page 3 Solemnity of Pentecost Announcing the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis challenged us to proclaim God s mercy to everyone without exception... again and again, with new enthusiasm and renewed pastoral action. Pentecost proclaims that the door locked for fifty days is thrown open at last. No longer closed in on itself, the community speaks to crowds from different backgrounds, distant lands, exotic languages. Everyone hears their native language. The Spirit does not restore Babel s uniformity, but forges unity-in-diversity of language, race, nationality embracing all without exception. During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pentecost s Spirit summons us afresh from mediocrity and isolation to share God s mercy with the world. This is our mission! Francis exclaims. We are given the gift of the tongue of the Gospel and the fire of the Holy Spirit, so that while we proclaim Jesus risen, living and present in our midst, we may warm... the heart of the peoples, drawing near to Him, the way, the truth, and the life. FORTY HOURS DEVOTION This Sunday, May 15th, our parish begins our Forty Hours Devotion with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and adoration after 11:00am Mass. At 4:00pm we invite you to Stearns Vespers with homily in Polish and English by Fr. Gregory Zielinski. On Monday, May 16th we invite religious education students with their parents for devotional opportunities at 7:00pm. On Tuesday, May 17th at 7:00pm we conclude Forty Hours devotion with homily in English by Fr. Jonathan Slavinskas, followed by Litany to All Saints and outdoor procession. We ask the First Communion Class, dressed in their formal attire, the Children of Mary, Altar Servers, members of our parish organizations with their identifying medals, parish ministries and school children in their Sunday Best to be with clergy for this holy service. May Devotions - Thurs. May 19 & Fri. May 20 at 7:00pm. REMINDER - Partners in Charity - we are continuing our annual appeal to support this life giving appeal. Anthony Czarnecki s 50th Anniversary of Ordination - will be celebrated on Sunday, June 5th with a bilingual Mass of Thanksgiving at 11:00am at our Basilica followed by a reception at the PACC Hall, Harris St. This special occasion is open to parishioners, however, no formal invitations will be sent. Tickets are $40pp for buffet of prime rib, chicken and baked fish. Children s (under 12) menu includes chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese for $10. Tickets are available at the rectory on a first come first served basis. Proceeds from this event will benefit the St. Joseph School Gymnasium. Friday Night Bingo - will be held on May 20th in St. Joseph School cafeteria. Please join members of the St. Anne Society for an evening of anticipation and camaraderie. Doors open at 5:00pm and games begin at 6:45pm. Proceeds benefit St. Joseph Parish. LOTTERY RAFFLE DRAWING Thank you to all parishioners and friends who supported our recent Lottery Raffle sponsored by the Parish Council. The drawing was held in the school cafeteria last Saturday evening where participants enjoyed a wide assortment of delicious food, enjoyed each others company and three lucky winners took home their lottery tickets to the excitement of the possibility of scratching a big prize ticket. THE WINNERS ARE: First Prize - Robert and Jane Gaudreau; Second Prize - Stephanie and Matthew Kusek and Third Prize - Lorraine Kujawski. We are grateful to members of the Parish Council for their time and effort and to all our parishioners who were super salesmen and women to make this fund raiser a success and help decrease our parish debt to the Diocese. FESTIVAL 43 JUNE Only five weeks until our exciting Festival and we are looking for a special you to join us on this Father s Day weekend to volunteer your time to help make this annual event a success. There are many opportunities for you to share your expertise in possibly serving as a chairperson for the Garage Sale, Cornhole Tournament, Soda, Popcorn and Cotton Candy booths, Face Painting, 50/50, Wheel Barrow of Cheer, etc. or in another useful capacity. You may place or plant flowers only in front of the monument (12inches) and place Veterans flags in that same area, so as to not hinder grass cutting and trimming. KRONIKA PARAFIALNA UROCZYSTOŚĆ ZESŁANIE DUCHA ŚWIĘTEGO 15 maja 2016 Wszyscyśmy bowiem w jednym Duchu zostali ochrzczeni, aby stanowić jedno Ciało. (1Kor 12, 13a) Posiadamy już pierwsze dary Ducha. To znaczy, że rośnie w nas i nabiera kształtu królestwo Boże, nowe stworzenie. Nie jesteśmy wygnańcami, ale dziedzicami; nie jesteśmy już poza Bogiem, ale w Jego domu, a On przebywa w nas. Dar Ducha Świętego świadczy o tym, że Bogu zależy na nas bardziej niż nam samym. On sam modli się w nas, gdy my nie umiemy. Przenika nasze serca, abyśmy potrafili kochać. Właśnie dlatego strumienie ożywiającej wody Ducha Świętego mogą popłynąć z naszego wnętrza. Ta woda jest nowością dla świata. HOLY ROSARY SODALITY Holy Rosary Sodality zaprasza na coroczną Mszę Wspólnotową, dziś o godz. 8:15. Organizacja ta istnieje w naszej parafii od 1888r. i przez cały ten czas służy naszej wspólnocie modlitwą i posługą.

5 Page 5 ZESŁANIE DUCHA ŚWIĘTEGO Duch Święty jest Boskim darem dla Kościoła i świata, który wprowadza pierwotny porządek Boży: pozwala zachowywać Boże przykazania w Duchu miłości Boga i bliźniego. Jest to porządek przywrócony przez Chrystusa na krzyżu i wdrażany po Jego śmierci i zmartwychwstaniu w Duchu wzajemnej miłości Ojca i Syna zlanego na Kościół w dniu Pięćdziesiątnicy. To właśnie ten Duch Święty sprawia, że od dnia Jego zesłania aż po dziś dzień aktualizuje się na wszystkich pokoleniach ludzkich dzieło zbawcze Jezusa Chrystusa realizowane w Kościele, w sposób sakramentalny. Duch ten jest wdrażany zarodkowo w sakramencie chrztu świętego i rozwijany stopniowo w sercu człowieka otwartym na działanie Boże, stając się tym samym źródłem uświęcenia. To właśnie w Nim są skuteczne nasze modlitwy, dociera do nas żywe słowo Pisma świętego, a wszelkie wydarzenia naszego życia w wierze są odbierane jako przejaw działania Bożego. Jest On obecny we wszystkich sakramentach Kościoła, szczególnie Eucharystii, sprawiając i aktualizując dzieło zbawcze Jezusa Chrystusa. W ten sposób, poprzez nawrócone serca ludzkie i sakramentalne celebracje misteriów zbawczych Chrystusa, zmienia się oblicze tej ziemi i zaczyna królować prawdziwy pokój i miłość. NABOŻEŃSTWO CZTERDZIESTOGODZINNE Dziś rozpoczynamy w naszej parafii Nabożeństwo Czterdziestogodzinne. Po Mszy św. o godz. 11:00 rozpocznie się adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu, która potrwa do godz. 16:00 i zakończy się uroczystymi Nieszporami. Homilię w czasie Neszporów wygłosi ks. Grzegorz Zieliński. W poniedziałek nabożeństwo o godz. 19:00. Zapraszamy na nie szczególnie dzieci i młodzież uczęszczające na katechezę. We wtorek uroczyste zakończenie adoracji o godz. 19:00. Homilię wygłosi ks. Jonatan Slavinskas. Do udziału w procesji na zakończenie zapraszamy wszystkich parafian, a w szczególności dzieci pierwszokomunijne, Dzieci Maryi, ministrantów i członków organizacji parafialnych. PARTNERS IN CHARITY Nadal trwa zbiórka na Partners in Charity. Dziękujemy serdecznie tym, którzy złożyli już swoje ofiary i jednocześnie zachęcamy tych, którzy jeszcze do tegorocznej zbiórki się nie przyłączyli, aby rozważyli możliwość wsparcie bliźnich w potrzebie. Nawet niewielka ofiara może mieć ogromny wpływ na jakość czyjegoś życia. Ofiary przez nas składane służą do organizowania wielu programów w diecezji. Kiedy wspieramy innych oddajemy niejako dług wdzięczności za dary otrzymane od Boga. MSZA WOTYWNA I NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA W najbliższą środę Nowennę do św. Józefa będziemy przeżywali wraz Szafarzami Eucharystii. Nabożeństwo do św. Józefa jest uniwersalną okazją, nie tylko dla niewielkiej grupy, ale dla wszystkich nas, aby otrzymać pomoc i wsparcie nie tylko w tym życiu, ale przede wszystkim w pogłębianiu naszego życia duchowego i w spełnieniu obietnicy życia wiecznego. TRYPTYK MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO Bardzo serdecznie zachęcamy do przyjmowania do swoich domów Tryptyku Miłosierdzia Bożego. Jest to wspaniała okazja, aby w Roku Miłosierdzia zbliżyć się do Tajemnicy Bożej Miłości w gronie rodzinnym. Tryptyk można przyjmować na trzy lub siedem dni, w środy lub niedziele. Zapisy są prowadzone w biurze parafialnym. RADA PARAFIALNA Najbliższe spotkanie we wtorek, 17 maja o godz. 18:30 na plebanii. JUBILEUSZ 50 LAT KAPŁAŃSTWA Z radością i satysfakcja informujemy, że nasz proboszcz, ks. prałat Antoni Czarnecki w tym roku obchodzi jubileusz 50 lat kapłaństwa. Z tej okazji w niedzielę 5 czerwca w naszej bazylice odbędą się uroczystości jubileuszowe. Zapraszamy wszystkich parafian na uroczystą Msze św. a zaraz po niej na dalszą cześć uroczystości w PACC. Ilość miejsc w PACC jest ograniczona dlatego też prosimy o jak najwcześniejsze zgłaszanie chęci uczestnictwa w uroczystym przyjęciu. Bilety w cenie $40 dla dorosłych oraz $10 dla dzieci do 10 lat są już dostępne na plebanii. ZWYCIĘZCY LOTERII Dziękujemy wszystkim, którzy wzięli udział w Loterii organizowanej prze Rade Parafialną. Dochód został przeznaczony na zmniejszenie zalegających zobowiązań wobec diecezji. FESTIWAL Już tylko pięć tygodni do Festiwalu! Jak co roku czaka na nas wiele atrakcji: Garage Sale, Cornhole Tournament, Soda, Popcorn and Cotton Candy booths, Face Painting, 50/50, Wheel Barrow of Cheer, etc. Poszukujemy wolontariuszy do pomocy w przygotowaniu, przebiegu i zakończeniu Festiwalu.
