Through the generous support provided by the Collection for the Church in Latin America, last year these young boys and girls from St. Blaise Parish in El Pozón, Colombia, were taught by trained catechists so that they were well prepared for their First Holy Communion. For many in the twenty-two countries of South America and the Caribbean, the funds from this collection provide the only help that individual parishes receive to sustain and enrich the faith of their parishioners. Your contributions to this collection will assist in the formation of seminarians, permanent deacons, religious sisters and brothers, and lay ministers of the Gospel. The natural disasters which occurred in 2010 continue to challenge the Church in Latin America. Your participation in this collection will help the Church to re-establish and strengthen her presence in this region and ensure that the faithful can continue to eperience the Lord s love in the sacraments and in their local parish communities. I am grateful for your support of your local parish, the Archdiocese and the Universal Church. May God, who is never outdone in generosity, continue to bless you and your loved ones in this New Year. Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie, Spróbujcie wyobrazić sobie ponad siedemset dzieci przygotowujących się do przyjęcia Eucharystii po raz pierwszy w życiu! Było to możliwe dzięki wpływom finansowym, jakie w zeszłym roku przyniosła Kolekta na Rzecz Kościoła w Ameryce Łacińskiej. Fundusze zebrane w czasie tej kolekty sprawiły, że nauczanie religii w parafii św. Błażeja w El Pozón w Kolumbii prowadzone było przez wykwalifikowanych katechetów, którzy doskonale przygotowali chłopców i dziewczęta z tej parafii do przyjęcia ich Pierwszej Komunii świętej. Dla wielu spośród dwudziestu dwóch krajów Ameryki Południowej i Karaibów fundusze uzyskane z Kolekty na rzecz Kościoła w Ameryce Łacińskiej są jedyną pomocą otrzymywaną przez tamtejsze parafie na podtrzymywanie i pogłębianie wiary miejscowych parafian. Wasza ofiara w czasie tej kolekty wspomoże formację seminarzystów, stałych diakonów, sióstr i braci zakonnych oraz akolitów i lektorów. Klęski żywiołowe, które wydarzyły się w roku 2010 stawiają dodatkowe wyzwania przed Kościołem w Ameryce Łacińskiej. Dzięki Waszej ofierze na tacę Kościół będzie mógł zaznaczyć na nowo i umocnić swoją obecność w tamtym regionie, a wierni będą mogli nada doświadczać Bożej miłości poprzez uczestniczenie w sakramentach i udział w życiu lokalnych wspólnot parafialnych. Jestem wdzięczny za wszystko, co robicie dla wspierania swojej parafii, archidiecezji i całego Kościoła Powszechnego. Niech dobry Bóg, którego nikt nie prześcignie w szczodrobliwości, nadal błogosławi Wam i Waszym bliskim na nadchodzący Nowy Rok. The Knights of Columbus Mater Christi Council thanks all St. Priscilla parishioners who took a baby bottle home with them during Advent to fill with change during the Christmas Season. We are happy to report to you that $4, has been collected so far. Some people said they forgot to return their bottles. You can still do so by giving them to the ushers over the next couple of weekends or returning them to the rectory. Donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Proceeds from this effort will benefit The Fr. Michael J. McGivney Center of Hope and Healing. The Fr. McGivney Center, named after the founder of the Knights of Columbus, will provide care to women with difficult pregnancies who carry their babies to term, through provision of transitional housing, spiritual nurturing and other care for mothers and their children in need, and all in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. 6 Page Six January 8, 2012 On Wednesday, December 28, 2011, our parish Polish group had their Christmas party - in Polish tradition a so-called Opłatek. It was a little dinner organized, where they celebrated the Christmas season. We also discussed our upcoming Valentine s Day Dance, to which we invite all of you! Tickets will be available shortly. The dance will be on February 11, Please keep this day open and join us! Thanksgiving Apples As we do every year, we passed out apples to everyone who came to Mass on Thanksgiving Day. These apples serve as a reminder that we should be thankful for everything around us. St. Priscilla Parish is very thankful to the sponsors of these apples, Laramie Bakery & Deli (Harlem location) and Joanna & William Wójcik. May God bless you for your generosity! CHRISTMAS EVE 2011 We celebrated Christmas in a very special way this year. Our newly ordained bishop, Bishop Andrew Wypych celebrated our Midnight Mass in English and Polish on Christmas. We are very honored that he spent this great holiday with us!
