May 1, 2016 Sixth Easter Sunday Page Four The book of Psalms contains many wonderful verses about mercy, love and hope. The word mercy is o en used in the psalms when talking about God s love and care over us. One defini on of mercy is God withholding the punishment we deserve. Is there any be er descrip on of love than that? The following verses are psalms about God s mercy toward us. Inspirational Psalms About Mercy Psalm 13:5, 6 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salva on. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt boun fully with me. Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 25:6, 7 Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness sake, O LORD. Psalm 31:7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversi es; Psalm 33:22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. Psalm 57:9-11 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the na ons. For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth. Psalm 86:5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Psalm 94:17, 18 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. Psalm 100:4, 5 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlas ng; and his truth endureth to all genera ons. Psalm 103:8-12 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us a er our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniqui es. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 109:26, 27 Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy: That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it. Psalm 130:7 Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemp on. Psalm 136:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 145:8-10 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA PH (675) 4561675 / (675) 72736556 FAX (675)4562142 bpwewak@gmail.com Dear Father Jason and Parishioners of St. Ferdinand Parish, It is exactly one year now since I was ordained Bishop of Wewak Diocese. I remember my anxiety on that day how I will be able to take care of the huge diocese and its needs. I knew that only with the help of God and my trust in Him this can be done. That there will be good people sent by God who will help me and so it has happened. Since I arrived on Saturday to your parish I experienced the loving care and warm welcome of your parish priest Fr Jason and his co-workers in various ministries in the parish. As we were praying together and sharing our experience of God in our lives, I know now that I am not alone, I am so grateful for your loving kindness and generosity ($7,232) towards the work of the young church in Papua New Guinea Wewak Diocese. It is a very vibrant church, and is worthy of our support. Thank you for your prayers and your generous hearts. May 1, 2016 Sixth Easter Sunday Page Nine MAJ, MIESIĄCEM OFIAROWANYM MARYI Gdyby przeprowadzić plebiscyt na najpiękniejszy miesiąc, z całą pewnością palmę pierwszeństwa zdobyłby maj. Serca Pana Jezusa przypada skromnej zakonnicy, św. 7:30 wieczorem. 6:30 wieczorem. 3 MAJA UROCZYSTOŚĆ NAJŚWIĘTSZEJ MARYI PANNY KRÓLOWEJ POLSKI 3 maja, Kościół katolicki w Polsce obchodzi uroczystość Najświętszej Maryi Panny Królowej Polski. Nawiązuje ona do ważnych wydarzeń z historii Polski: obrony Jasnej Góry przed Szwedami w 1655 r., ślubów króla Jana Kazimierza - powierzenia królestwa opiece Matki Bożej, a także do uchwalenia Konstytucji 3 Maja.

May 1, 2016 Sixth Easter Sunday Page Thirteen ON GOD IN THE SUNSHINE, AND HELLO? Copyright 2015 by John B. Reynolds (john@jrwrites.com) Regular readers of this space know that I typically reference at least one of the scheduled readings when I put these columns together. O en the Gospel, but some mes the second reading and some mes the first. Occasionally, all three. But things get tricky this week because the Ascension is coming up, and we o en hear the Ascension Thursday reading on the following Sunday. Which poten ally impacts the readings for today, the Sixth Sunday of Easter. Are you with me? Here s what the Seasonal Missale e says about it all: When the Ascension of the Lord is celebrated the following Sunday, the second reading and the Gospel from the Seventh Sunday of Easter may be read on the Sixth Sunday of Easter. Huh? I mean, really, what s a columnist to do? I talked to our deacon about this, and he was pre y sure we d be using the Thursday May 5th Ascension reading on Sunday, May 8th. Deacon Jim was pre y sure also that the whole Archdiocese would be doing the same. Good. But at that me, I didn t know to ask him if we d be using the second reading and the Gospel from the Seventh Sunday of Easter (also May 8th) for the second reading and the Gospel today, the Sixth Sunday of Easter. And even if I had asked him, it might not have helped me much, because I write for several parishes, and just because my parish makes this swap, it doesn t mean the rest of my subscribing parishes will. As you can see, I ve given this a lot of thought. Ul mately, I ll offer just a few non-specific words about God. And I am inspired to this non-specific end unknowingly by my daughter, who texted me--in the midst of all my mental agita on-- Support Staff Mrs. Zofia Mazurek, Parish Secretary Sr. Kamila Wojdyla, Administrative Assistant Ms. Elizabeth Ceisel-Mikowska, Bulletin Editor Mr. Kamil Duda, Website Designer/Editor Liturgical Bro. Sarah was in Colorado visi ng my nephew at the me. Seems she was in a park or something that had a large cut-out sign saying God Bless America. Sarah didn t see the sign originally, though. What she saw instead was the shadow it cast on the path directly in front of her. The sun caught the sign and the other vegeta on around it in such a way that what Sarah saw on the path was a large block of shadow and the single word GOD dressed up in non-shaded sunshine. Very cool. And Sarah s one-word cap on Hello? completed--perhaps for her, and definitely for me--the epiphany moment. We overthink things. I do anyway. Well, what about this? Or what about that? Or what if something altogether unexpected happens? So many mes, we go about addressing all of these what-ifs in our own strength, and we get by.
