From the Pastor s Desk... Today, we celebrate the World Day of Prayer for Vocations and Good Shepherd Sunday. In today s world, we hear many voices, many of which can even be distracting at times: the media, TV, radio, internet, etc. Other voices we may hear are those of fear, reason, conscience etc. But, the most important voice is that of Jesus. But, in order to hear the voice of Jesus, we must LISTEN. He speaks to us through Scripture, liturgy, Church teachings, and prayer. Let's listen to the voice of Jesus in our daily life and pray for new vocations. I am glad to announce that we have a vocation committee in our Parish: Ceil and Bob Brieskie, Linda Evangelista, Cindy and Irek Mocarski, and Barbara and Bartlomiej Mucha. If anyone would like to get involved in promoting vocations in our Parish, please talk to the priest or a vocation's committee member. I want to thank all those who worked hard to make our Rummage Sale so successful and all those who participated by donating and buying. Through the Rummage Sale, we helped many people and also our Church by raising $ 7, 384.00 which will be put toward our Church Renovation Fund. Next weekend, we will celebrate Mother s Day. Please write the names of your mothers, both living and deceased, on the Mother s Day envelopes and return them to us. We will pray for all your Mothers during the Mother s Day Novena and the entire month of May, which is dedicated to our Blessed Mother. Rev. Richard Milek IN THANKSGIVING FOR ALL DONATIONS TO OUR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS (BELL SYSTEM, SANCTUARY RAILINGS, LIGHTING, AND PARKING LOT) Catholic Women s Club Szwajnos Family Teresa Helfand Helene Blum Alicja & Tadeusz Kozuchowski Klaudia, Jerry, & Vicky Giannini in Memory of Frances C. & William F. Slowik RUMMAGE SALE RESULTS Through the generous donations of many people and with the help of our wonderful volunteers we were able to help hundreds of families receive great values on clothes and household items. The remaining items were sold to the Savers Resale stores where further good will come from them. The proceeds from the sale of $ 7, 384.00 were donated to our parish. Thank you to all the people involved in any way with the rummage sale. We would not have been able to do all this good without you. We will be sponsoring another Rummage Sale in the fall. Gratefully, The Parish Pastoral Council and The Catholic Women's Club. CONGRATULATIONS TO Barb & Blair Raftree On Their 45th Wedding Anniversary May 13 RESPECT LIFE Politics and Religion Do Mix The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in its doctrinal note On some questions regarding the participation of Catholics in political life (2002) said about St. Thomas More: [He] gave witness by his martyrdom to the inalienable dignity of the human conscience. Though subjected to various forms of psychological pressure, Saint Thomas More refused to compromise, never forsaking the constant fidelity to legitimate authority and institutions which distinguished him; he taught by his life and his death that man cannot be separated from God, nor politics from morality. Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we have welcomed into our church community Laila Jade Isabela Diaz

School News This Week At St. Francis Borgia School... Week of May 8, 2017 The Chef Club will meet after school on Monday, May 8. The final open School Advisory Board meeting of the 2016-2017 school year will be held on Monday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m. in Mayall Hall. Tuesday, May 9, is Hot Dog Lunch Day! Yum! Everybody who does something good, valuable, and of great importance deserves a day in their honor. Teachers are certainly among the more deserving. Tuesday, May 9, is National Teacher s Day. This day honors those hard working, patient and understanding people to whom we entrust our children. Teachers give our children positive direction and affect who they are and who they become. From pre-school through college, teachers are an influential part of our children's lives. Please be sure to thank a teacher today! WHAT TEACHERS MAKE The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table.) I make kids wonder. I make them question. I make them criticize. I make them apologize and mean it. I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions. I teach them to write and then I make them write. I make them read, read, read. I make them show all their work in math. I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know in English while preserving their unique cultural identity. I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe. I make my students stand to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, because we live in the United States of America. Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life. (Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.) "Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant...you want to know what I make? One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." To stress his point he said to another guest, "You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?" Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...) "Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor. I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can't make them sit for 5 without an ipod, Game Cube or movie rental. You want to know what I make?" I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. What do you make?" The Tiny Dancers Club will meet after school on Tuesday, May 9. The Soccer Club will meet after school on Wednesday, May 10. Rehearsal for First Holy Communion will be in the church Wednesday evening, May 10, at 7:00 p.m. The Dodgeball Club will meet after school on Thursday, May 11. There will be an all-school Mass in church at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 12. The fourth grade will be planning this liturgy. All are welcome to attend. On Saturday, May 13, our second grade students will receive the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time at 12:00 p.m. Mass in the church. Congratulations and God bless all of you! Z Biurka Księdza Proboszcza... Dziś obchodzimy w Archidiecezji Niedzielę Powołaniową i Niedzielę Dobraego Pasterza. Wiele głosów słyszymy wokół. Głos Jezusa. Głos mediów. Głos lęku. Głos własnego sumienia. W czyj głos najczęściej się wsłuchujemy? Czyj głos brzmi dla nas swojsko i miło, a czyj obco i zniechęcająco? Żeby poznać głos Jezusa, trzeba Go słuchać. Możemy Go nie rozumieć, możemy się z Nim nie zgadzać, możemy się z Nim kłócić ale nie przestawajmy Go słuchać. Bo jak Go rozpoznamy, gdy będzie nas wołał? On mówi do nas przez Pismo Święte, liturgię, nauczanie Kościoła, modlitwę. Ks.
