From the Pastor s Desk... This weekend we celebrate the Parish Feast, and we entrust our parish and school family to our Patron, St. Francis Borgia. What makes St. Francis a very unique Saint is the fact that before he became a Jesuit priest, he was a family man. He was born on October 28, 1510, and as a child, he was very pious and wished to be a monk, but he became a kinsman instead. On September 15, 1529, he got married and had eight children so he can truly be a patron of all our parish families. I also discovered that in the 16th century St. Francis Borgia was one of the Chief restorers of Sacred Music. That makes him a patron of our music department in our parish including all the organists, musicians, and choirs. In 1546, when his wife Eleanor died, he entered the newly formed Society of Jesus and was ordained a priest after making adequate provisions for his children. He helped in the establishment of what is now the Gregorian University in Rome. He later founded in Spain a dozen colleges which qualifies him to be a great patron of our school, for both teachers and students. St. Francis was a very humble man, and when he found out that Pope Julius VI wanted to make him a Cardinal, he left the city to avoid it. In 1565, he was elected the third Superior General of the Society of Christ. We can also call St. Francis a missionary because he was given responsibilities for missions in the East and West Indies. St. Francis Borgia was widely regarded in his lifetime as a Saint. He died on September 30, 1572, in Rome. He was beatified in Madrid on November 23, 1624, by Pope Gregory XVI and was canonized on June 20, 1670, by Pope Clementine X. This is the fifth Parish Feast we celebrate together here at St. Francis Borgia Parish. I want to congratulate you and wish you a Happy Feast Day. We pray today, thanking God for our ancestors, who gave us this beautiful church. For all former priests, deacons, and sisters who served our parish, and for the principals, and teachers who taught in our school. I want to thank you for all your love, respect and support shown to all our parish priests and me. Also, I want to thank you for your generosity in supporting the renovation of our church. Every year during this holiday, we thank everyone who supports our church through prayer and offerings. We especially thank those who sacrifice their time serving us through membership of different ministries: The Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ministers of care, Parish and Finance council members, Ushers, Money counters, Sacristans, Greeters, Choir members, Bereavement ministry members, Religious Education and RCIA catechists, Charity in Action members, Adoration Chapel committee members, etc. We also thank the participants in various parish groups: Catholic Women s Club; Golden Club; Peace Prayer Service; Divine Mercy Chaplet; Sacred Heart Prayer Group; Respect Life Group; Padre Pio Groups; School Parents Association; School Advisory Board; Knights of Columbus; Crafters; Marian Movement of Priests; Scouting; Italian Catholic Federation; and Our Lady of Czestochowa etc. We ask you to consider to be part of the ministry and parish groups mentioned above. Your willingness to be active members of our parish family would be a beautiful gift on the Parish Feast. Congratulations on a very successful Carnival and Craft Fair. The profits of the Carnival for the school is approximately $70,000. We are still waiting to process some bills to have a complete detailed report. I want to thank the Crafters for their $800 donation for the renovation of our church. Thank You! Fr. Richard Milek Next Padre Pio Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 24th at 7:00 pm in the Church instead of the original scheduled date of October 17th. Italian All Souls Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 4th at 7:00 pm in the Church We invite everyone to join us! Z Biurka Księdza Proboszcza... Przeżywamy kolejny odpust parafialny i zawierzamy Św. Franciszkowi Borgia naszą wspólnotę parafialną i szkolną. Te chwile przeżywane wspólnie jeszcze bardziej nas umocniły i zjednoczyły w jednej rodzinie parafialnej. Z pomocą Św. Franciszka Borgia kontynuujemy renowację naszego kościoła. Jak co roku z okazji Święta naszego Patrona dziękujemy Wszystkim, którzy wspierają nasz Kościół modlitwą i ofiarą, a szczególnie dziękujemy tym, którzy poświęcają swój czas służąc nam poprzez przynależność do różnych grup duszpasterskich i parafialnych. Prosimy o zgłoszenia na nowych Lektorów, Marszałków, Szafarzy Eucharystii, Ministrantów, Członków Żywego Różańca, Grupy Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej, Grupy Ojca Pio, Grupy Muzycznej, Scholi Dziecięcej, Grupy Modlitewnej w kaplicy adoracyjnej i innych.
