24 TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Niech będzie pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Wrzesień - czas powrotów z wakacji, pełnych energii po udanym wypoczynku. Jest to również miesiąc, w którym, dzięki św. Stanisławowi Kostce, którego wspomnienie przeżywamy, myślimy o dzieciach i młodzieży. Ten, który jako dziecko, chciał się poświęcić Bogu, i mimo przeszkód, jako młodzieniec, osiągnął swój cel. Mimo przeszkód pamiętamy słowa, które powiedział Jezus do swoich uczniów pozwólcie dzieciom przyjść do Mnie (Mk 10, 13) Jest to wezwanie do wszystkich odpowiedzialnych za wrost duchowy dzieci i młodzieży, a szczególnie do rodziców i rodziców chrzestnych. Dzięki takim spotkaniom, Boże łaski, Jego błogosławieństwo, lekcje Chrystusowe, katecheza, umocnienie sakramentalne, jak i opierając się na przykładzie św. Stanisława, odpowiedź na Boże powołanie, mogą się realizować. Stając przed tak wielką odpowiedzialnością głos sumienia podpowiada szczodrobliwą odpowiedź. Pragniemy również zachęcać w tym świecie pełnym różnych propozycji - do życia pobożnego, w sensie poznawania Boga, dzięki katechezie, niedzielnym kazaniom, okolicznym nabożeństwom. Już teraz, zapisując dzieci na różne zajęcia, warto mieć na uwadze, poszczególne nabożeństwa w ciągu roku, które będa miały miejsce w piątki jak np. nabożeństwa różańcowe w październiku, roarty w adwencie itd. Chcemy również pamiętać o pierwszych piątkach miesiąca, odpowiadając na prośbą Pana Jezusa, jak i również na Jego obietnice związane z kultem Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa. Benedykt XVI podczas spotkania z młodzieżą na Błoniach w Krakowie w 2006 r.: ( ) Jedna jest skała, na której warto budować dom. Tą skałą jest Chrystus. Jedna jest skała, na której warto oprzeć wszystko. Tą skałą jest ten, do którego Chrystus rzekł: «Ty jesteś Piotr czyli Skała, i na tej Skale zbuduję Kościół mój» (Mt 16, 18). Tego chcemy uczyć dzieci i młodzież, bo jeżeli Bóg jest na pierwszym miejscu, reszta jest na miejscu właściwym! Ks. SEPTEMBER 15 TH, 2019 Praised be the Lord Jesus Christ! September is a time of return from vacations, full of energy after a successful rest. It is also the month in which, thanks to Saint. Stanislaus Kostka, whose memorial is in September, we think about children and youth. He who, as a child, wanted to devote himself to God, and despite obstacles, as a young man, achieved his goal. Despite the obstacles - we remember the words Jesus said to his disciples - "let children come to me" (Mk 10, 13) This is a call to all those responsible for the spiritual growth of children and young people, especially to parents and godparents. Thanks to such meetings, God's grace, His blessing, Christ's lessons, catechesis, sacramental strengthening and relying on the example of Saint. Stanislaus, the answer to God's call, can come true. Facing such a great responsibility, the voice of conscience suggests a generous answer. We would also like to encourage - in this world - full of various propositions - to a pious life in the sense of knowing God, through catechesis, Sunday sermons, and different services. Already now, when enrolling children for various activities, it is worth bearing in mind that individual services during the year, which will take place on Fridays, e.g. rosary prayers in October etc. We also want to remember the first Fridays of the month, answering the request Lord Jesus, as well as His promises related to the worship of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Benedict XVI during a meeting with young people in Krakow in 2006: "(...) There is one rock on which to build a house. Christ is that rock. One is the rock on which to base everything. This rock is the one to which Christ said: "You are Peter, or Rock, and on this rock I will build my church" (Mt 16:18). This is what we want to teach children and young people, because "if God comes first, the rest is on the right place"! Fr. Robert Będziński Catechetical Sunday 2019 This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 15 th The 2019 theme will be "Stay With Us." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.
Marriage Convalidation Ceremony with Bishop Mark O Connell Are you or someone close to you married but not with the blessing of the Church? Would you like to be married by a bishop? Bishop Mark O Connell has organized a group wedding, for those in the North Region of the Archdiocese of Boston, on Friday, October 4th at 6:00pm at Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, 250 Revere Street, Revere. The ceremony will be designed for couples not married in the Church to validate their marriages before Bishop O Connell. During the wedding ceremony, each couple will say their vows separately before him and their two witnesses. To sign up, each couple should contact their parish and be endorsed by their parish as free to marry and adequately prepared. As we drove, we would look for landmarks along the way that would measure for us how much longer the trip would last. A shopping center, a hamburger stand, an old factory that once employed our greatgrandfather became markers of time and distance. We looked for them every trip and tried to be the first to spot them. We knew how much further we had to go, and it kept us busy on a long drive. Every family has their own landmarks that measure their life together. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, funerals, baptisms, and special occasions remind us of what we have accomplished and what yet lies ahead. We need to celebrate these times. They strengthen the bonds of love, renew our sense of identity and offer a time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. But life can have its speed bumps and people can drift apart. Don t give up. Reach out to those who have been alienated, or are hurting, or are disagreeable. Yes, it will be awkward and it will require some humility and apologizing and forgiving. But it is so worth it when we can make the trip together. Just try and welcome everyone to the family. Saints of the Week September 20 th Sts. Andrew Kim Taegon, Paul Chong Hasang, and Companions The evangelization of Korea began during the 17th century through a group of lay persons. A strong vital Christian community flourished there under lay leadership until missionaries arrived from the Paris Foreign Mission Society. During the terrible persecutions that occurred in the 19th century (in 1839, 1866, and 1867), one hundred and three members of the Christian community gave their lives as martyrs. Outstanding among these witnesses to the faith were the first Korean priest and pastor, Andrew Kim Taegon, and the lay apostle, Paul Chong Hasang. Among the other martyrs were a few bishops and priests, but for the most part lay people, men and women, married and unmarried, children, young people, and the elderly. All suffered greatly for the Faith and consecrated the rich beginnings of the Church of Korea with their blood as martyrs. Pope John Paul II, during his trip to Korea, canonized these martyrs on May 6, 1984, and inserted their feast into the Calendar of the Universal Church. Św. Andrzej Kim Tae-gŏn - urodził się w koreańskiej prowincji Tcziong hu. Po przyjęciu sakramentu chrztu, w wieku 15 lat, wstąpił do seminarium duchownego w Makao w Chinach. Święcenia kapłańskie otrzymał w roku 1845 i był pierwszym wyświęconym na kapłana Koreańczykiem. W czasie jego życia, trwały w Korei prześladowania chrześcijan. Ofiarą represji padł m.in. ojciec św. Andrzeja, błogosławiony Ignacy Kim. Szczególnie zaś prześladowani byli misjonarze, którzy mieli zakaz wjazdu do kraju. Mimo to Kościół w Korei rozrastał się, głównie dzięki działalności świeckich katechistów. Po święceniach kapłańskich, Andrzej Kim Tae-gon został oddelegowany do organizacji przeprawy wodnej z Chin dla misjonarzy, którzy nie zostaliby przepuszczeni przez granicę. W czasie wykonywania swoich obowiązków został on aresztowany, a następnie poddany torturom. Zmarł ścięty mieczem niedaleko Seulu 6 września 1846. Andrzej Kim Tae-gon został kanonizowany w Seulu przez papieża Jana Pawła II w 1984 roku. Wraz z nim kanonizowano również Pawła Hong Ha-sang oraz 98 innych Koreańczyków wraz z trzema francuskimi misjonarzami pracującymi w Korei. Today I heard these words: Pray for souls that they be not afraid to approach the tribunal of My mercy. Do not grow weary of praying for sinners. You know what a burden their souls are to My Heart. Relieve My deathly sorrow; dispense My mercy. 1446. The Lord said to me, It should be of no concern to you how anyone else acts; you are to be My living reflection, through love and mercy. I answered, Lord, but they often take advantage of my goodness. That makes no difference, My daughter. That is no concern of yours. As for you, be always merciful toward other people, and especially toward sinners. 1783. + When I immersed myself in prayer and united myself with all the Masses that were being celebrated all over the world at that time, I implored God, for the sake of all these Holy Masses, to have mercy on the world and especially on poor sinners who were dying at that moment. At the same instant, I received an interior answer from God that a thousand souls had received grace through the prayerful mediation I had offered to God. We do not know the number of souls that is ours to save through our prayers and sacrifices; therefore, let us always pray for sinners. Tyś morzem niezgłębionym miłosierdzia ku nam grzesznym, a im większa nędza nasza, tym większe mamy prawo do miłosierdzia Twojego. Tyś źródłem uszczęśliwiającym wszystkie stworzenia przez nieskończone miłosierdzie swoje. 975. Dziś usłyszałam te słowa: Módl się za te dusze, aby się nie lękały zbliżyć do trybunału miłosierdzia Mojego. Nie ustawaj za grzesznikami. Ty wiesz, jak Mi bardzo na sercu ciążą dusze ich; ulżyj śmiertelnemu smutkowi Mojemu, szafuj miłosierdziem Moim. 1446 Powiedział mi Pan: Niech cię nic nie obchodzi, jak kto postępuje, ty postępuj tak, jak Ja ci każę: masz być żywym odbiciem Moim przez miłość i miłosierdzie. - Odpowiedziałam: Panie, kiedy często nadużywają dobroci mojej. - To nic, córko Moja, niech cię to nie obchodzi, ty zawsze bądź miłosierna dla wszystkich, a szczególnie dla grzeszników. 1783 Gdy się pogrążyłam w modlitwie i połączyłam ze wszystkimi Mszami, jakie się w tej chwili odprawiają na całym świecie, błagałam Boga przez te wszystkie Msze święte o miłosierdzie dla świata, a szczególnie dla biednych grzeszników, którzy w tej chwili zostają w skonaniu. I w tej chwili otrzymałam Bożą odpowiedź wewnętrzną, że tysiąc dusz (132) otrzymało łaskę za pośrednictwem modlitwy, którą do Boga zanosiłam. Nie wiemy, jaką liczbę dusz zbawić mamy swymi modlitwami i ofiarą, dlatego módlmy się zawsze za grzeszników.
Saint John Paul II Shrine of Divine Mercy 28 St. Peter Street Salem, MA 01970 THE NEW ALTAR and IMPROVEMENTS IN OUR SHRINE Plans are underway for the new altar at our shrine. The Shrine has been blessed by the financial support from many donors. An amount of $60,000 has been raised to cover the cost of the altar. We also received a donation to cover the cost of the two images on either side of the altar. Currently the altar is being constructed in Poland and it will be sent here by ship. There s also an HVAC system in our plans to make the upper church more comfortable and also to fight with moisture in the upper church. We are also thinking about an elevator/lift to make our upper church available for everyone where the main altar with all the relics will be installed. We want it to be available for everyone so the next step is to make handicap bathrooms accessible. In the meantime, there is work to be done in preparation for the new altar. The masonry outside the church has been repaired as well as several small roof leaks. New gutters have been installed on the rectory. The inside walls behind the altar have been sealed and painted. The presbytery will have to be painted before the altar is installed. These repairs and renovations are costly and we need to raise funds for this purpose. You may also notice new insulated windows in the assembly room and the upper sacristy. These are a great improvement which will save on heating and cooling costs. There is also new fencing in front of the church. We are also in the process of looking to reopen our school building. This is a daunting task as the building needs major renovations. There are many men in the shrine community who have offered their time and skills to complete these projects. We would only have to pay for materials. In order to have heat and water in the school the pipes need to be repaired. The Archdiocese will cover this cost through insurance; however, we must have the asbestos covering the pipes removed. Asbestos removal is also necessary on the boiler and in the cafeteria. The second collections are presently held for this reason. I am grateful to those who, through spiritual and physical help, engage in the development of our church and school buildings. We wish to have the shrine attract many people who will find spiritual fulfillment and become disciples sharing the word of Christ to others.
