May God reward you all for your support and generosity to this collection. The April Renovation Fund totaled $1, Month s Mind Mass for Cardinal George and Galero Raising All are invited to Holy Name Cathedral (corner of State & Superior Streets in Chicago) TODAY, May 17, at 5:15 pm for a Mass on the one-month anniversary of the death of Francis Cardinal George, OMI, Archbishop Emeritus of Chicago. No tickets are required for this Mass. Rev. Msgr. Daniel Mayall, Rector of Holy Name Cathedral, will be the main celebrant and homilist. During this Mass, Cardinal George's galero, the wide-brimmed, tasseled red hat, will be raised to the Cathedral ceiling, joining the galeri of the other Cardinals of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Honoring our Blessed Mother during the Month of May Please join us every Tuesday and Saturday for the 8:00 am Mass and May devotions in the English language immediately afterwards. Newly Mandated Ministers of Care Congratulations to Lusia Crouchelli and Debbie Waitekus who, after participating in a two-day seminar at St. Symphorosa Parish, have met the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Divine Worship requirements and have received certificates to be eligible Ministers of Care for our Parish. This means that they may, only after receiving explicit delegation from the Pastor, regularly assist with the distribution of the Holy Eucharist to the sick and homebound members of our Parish. The certificate allows them to serve in this ministry throughout the duration of the Liturgical Cycle A (Nov. of 2016). We thank you for your service to the Church and to our Parish. May God continue to enrich your faith and appreciation of the Eucharist and bless you in this special ministry! Catholic War Veterans Post #500 to observe Memorial Day at Five Holy Martyrs The Catholic War Veterans Post #500 will be honoring its members, as well as men from the parish and neighborhood, who have served in the US Armed Forces at its Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 25, Special honor will be given to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Veterans from Post #500 will begin the day with a 9:00 am Mass celebrated by the Pastor, Rev. Tomasz Sielicki, in the intention of all deceased military comrades. After the Mass, Post members will process to the Catholic War Veterans Memorial Monument in front of the Richmond Street school building, where a short program to salute our fallen comrades will take place. This year Post #500 is proud to have Alderman James A. Balcer (11 th Ward) as a guest speaker. Alderman Balcer is a highly decorated Marine who served in the Vietnam War. Also, select students from Pope John Paul II Catholic School who have received awards in this year s National Essay Competition in Washington, D.C., will be attending to read their essays. Immediately following the short program, everyone is invited to come to the Bishop Abramowicz Parish Hall for cake and coffee. All parishioners, neighbors and friends are invited to come and join in paying tribute to our fallen heroes. Chicago Association of Holy Name Societies 35 th Annual Spiritual Assembly Mass Our parish Holy Name of Jesus Society will participate in the Chicago Association of Holy Name Societies 35 th Annual Spiritual Assembly Mass on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 7:00 pm in St. John Brebeuf Church, located at 8307 N. Harlem Ave., in Niles, IL, tel Holy Name members are asked to please assemble at St. John Brebeuf s by 6:30 p.m. for the Procession of Banners.
