Amen. The litany ended, we now listen to our own hearts. We feel them beat whether or not they have been hardened by sin, by hatred, by indifference to God s love. The blood which flows through its chambers contains our history of life. That blood reveals everything as it passes through the heart. It is in those chambers that God can see our love for Him in happy times and our hate for Him in His silence...when WE wanted Him to conform to OUR wills. Regardless, His Sacred Heart still issues forth mercy, always there to share His blood with us to bring new life to us all. PASTORAL MESSAGE JULY 5, LIPCA 2009 Prophet or Profit Your Choice There is a slight difference in the pronunciation of these two words, but a vast world of difference in the meaning of these words prophet and profit. Prophet in the Bible refers to a person sent by God to announce to people God s love for them and his plan of salvation for them. The word profit means to make a gain, an increase for oneself through investing of money, time and talent sometimes for good and sometimes for evil. Jesus refers to himself in today s gospel as a Prophet, but as one that is not accepted, honored and respected by his own townspeople and even his own relatives. They had their minds made up that absolutely no one from Nazareth, especially the son of a carpenter, could be this well-versed in biblical knowledge and so eloquent in his teaching in the synagogue. The scribes and pharisees are asking, Where did he get all this knowledge? He speaks with authority. In our time we still have prophets people chosen by God to proclaim the word of God. The Church and all its members, you and me, by virtue have become prophets designated to make known God s love and mercy for all people. To listen to and to apply the teachings of the Church is to accept the teachings of Christ. He who hears you, hears me. Parents are most important prophets they instruct their children by word and deed how to live morally right and serve the Lord with clean heart. Someone said, Words teach and deeds preach. Or, as we commonly know it, Actions speak louder than words. Parents have a tremendously grave obligation to raise the children in the Catholic Faith there are no other options!! This is mandated through the reception of Baptism. How many times in your lifetime have you been a prophet to others? As a parent at home; as a teacher in school; as a coach with the youth; as a supervisor or simply as a coworker at the business? You said many things and did many things to help other to do better, to find meaning in their life. How many things have we heard and learned from those who are older than we; those who have endured physical disabilities for long periods of time they taught us patience and perseverance, how to be thankful and compassionate towards others. This weekend we celebrate the birth of our national independence. We have the document entitled Declaration of Inde pendence. It sounds real nice but sometimes our interpretation of it publicly or privately leads us astray. Our whole system of freedom, indeed, our whole existence falls under Declaration of Dependence, that is, our very existence and being depend totally on the love and mercy of God our Creator and Provider. All that we have comes from a gracious and generous God. On this holiday we remember the greatest prophets of all those who in imitation of Jesus, sacrificed their lives so that we might live and enjoy the blessings of this nation. Don t feel offended if you too are not accepted and honored. Jesus did not quit, neither should we. If we live and speak and lead as Jesus we will be real prophets! Fr. Len Oścień Muzyka gregoriańska to jedna z form muzyki kościelnej. Swoją nazwę bierze ona od imienia jej twórcy, czyli Ojca św. Grzegorza Wielkiego. Kazał on zgromadzić i uporządkować wszystkie istniejące ówcześnie utwory muzyki sakralnej, i to uporządkowane opracowanie pozostawił do dyspozycji Kościoła. Słowa te niosą wyraźne i mocne przesłanie. A jednak słowa Pana: Wystarczy ci mojej łaski. Placyd

STAN S HISTORICAL FACT by Rob Jagelewski One of the main attractions for Poles to come to Cleveland in the late 1800 s was to work in the steel mills. The chief employer was the Newburgh Rolling Mill. There was a bitter labor dispute at the mill which caused a strike by the Welsh, Irish, and Slovak workers. The owner of the Mill, Amasa Stone traveled to Poland to obtain workers for his steel mill. He stopped at Danzig and advertised for laborers. He guaranteed them free passage to New York or Cleveland, mostly in cattle boats. Stone promised the Poles jobs in the Rolling Mill at $7.25 per week. This was less than the striking workers had received for their jobs. These Poles were mainly from Silesia and Galatia. They came to Cleveland, to this neighborhood, in untold numbers. They worked at the Rolling Mill fourteen hours a day, six days a week. Stone now had cheaper labor costs and undercut his competition. In subsequent years the Poles also went on strike. This labor stoppage became violent, so much so that the Mayor of Cleveland asked the Pastor of St. Stanislaus, Father Anton Kolaszewski to intervene with his parishioners. The strike was settled. GOLDEN AGERS SUMMER PICNIC It s picnic time for the St. Stan s Golden Agers. An old fashioned picnic lunch will be served, a variety of games will be available for your participation and a raffle will be held.
