The basket is in front of the Passion Altar. Please bring your palms sooner than later to allow time for our fireman, Joe Lukachinsky, to incinerate them in a timely fashion. Wondering how our diocesan campaign has been doing? Our parish recently received a check for $4,442 as our cut for this year! Thank you to all who have participated in this important form of diocesan and parish stewardship. To those who choose to help others quietly and privately, we thank you also it means we are communicating the gospel in many ways, with or without tax write-offs. 3) Many thanks go out to the numerous individuals who, over the years, have included our parish in their estate planning. We have received many bequests from the most amazing people, some who were thought to be destitute, but who privately, often anonymously, decided to share their worldly gains with their church. Last year one such donation helped us retire a few very pressing debts! We thank, as well, all those who request that donations at their funerals and wakes be directed to our parish (as opposed to floral offerings etc ). All these donations make a huge difference in helping us maintain this treasure. 4) So, what s up with this wine tasting/mardi gras event? It is a little fund raiser to help out our ministry and evangelization work here at St. Stanislaus. The evening will consist of a variety of international foods and beverages followed up by a sale of wines from these countries, proceeds benefitting our church! If you enjoy socializing with other parishioners and are tired of staying home in the cold, join us in the Social Center that evening for this, the first such event held at our parish. If you don t drink wine, beer will also be available. If you don t drink, come and eat! 5) What a great turnout we had at the meeting this past Monday night. Thanks go out to Sr. Mary and the team from the diocese as well as Ron Zeszut, Kristie Bartley and the hospitality crew...as well as all those from our parish who quietly evangelize regularly! Whether it is giving tours of the church (Rob Jagelewski as well as Bob Molinski and Stan Witczak and anyone who guides a visitor and answers their questions) or those who bring a box of cereal to feed the children of Slavic Village or our staff and volunteers answering the rectory door and phone to all kinds of people with all types of questions and needs, all having the face of Jesus...these are just a few of the unique ways which we quietly evangelize. That term (evangelization) doesn t mean we go door to door proselytizing, but that we keep our doors (church doors and personal doors) opened to people looking for God, to the hungry, to the needy, to the lost. MESSAGE OF POPE FRANCIS FOR THE 22nd WORLD DAY OF THE SICK 2014 Faith and Charity: We Ought to Lay Down Our Lives for One Another (1 Jn 3:16) Dear Brothers and Sisters, 1. On the occasion of the Twenty-second World Day of the Sick, whose theme this year is Faith and Charity: We Ought to Lay Down Our Lives for One Another (1 Jn 3:16), I turn in a special way to the sick and all those who provide them with assistance and care. The Church recognizes in you, the sick, a special presence of the suffering Christ. It is true. At the side of and indeed within our suffering, is the suffering of Christ; he bears its burden with us and he reveals its meaning. When the Son of God mounted the cross, he destroyed the solitude of suffering and illuminated its darkness. We thus find ourselves before the mystery of God s love for us, which gives us hope and courage: hope, because in the plan of God s love even the night of pain yields to the light of Easter, and courage, which enables us to confront every hardship in his company, in union with him. 2. The incarnate Son of God did not remove illness and suffering from human experience but by taking them upon himself he transformed them and gave them new meaning. New meaning because they no longer have the last word which, instead, is new and abundant life; transformed them, because in union with Christ they need no longer be negative but positive. Jesus is the way, and with his Spirit we can follow him. Just as the Father gave us the Son out of love, and the Son gave himself to us out of the same love, so we too can love others as God has loved us, giving our lives for one another. Faith in God becomes goodness, faith in the crucified Christ becomes the strength to love to the end, even our enemies. The proof of authentic faith in Christ is self-giving and the spreading of love for our neighbours, especially for those who do not merit it, for the suffering and for the marginalized. 3. By virtue of Baptism and Confirmation we are called to conform ourselves to Christ, who is the Good Samaritan for all who suffer. We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for one another (1 Jn 3:16). When we draw near with tender love to those in need of care, we bring hope and God s smile to the contradictions of the world. When generous devotion to others becomes the hallmark of our actions, we give way to the Heart of Christ and bask in its warmth, and thus contribute to the coming of God s Kingdom. 4. To grow in tender love, and a respectful and sensitive charity, we have a sure Christian model to contemplate: Mary, the Mother of Jesus and our Mother, who is always attentive to the voice of God and the needs and troubles of her children. Mary, impelled by God s mercy which took flesh within her, selflessly hastened from Galilee to Judea to find and help her kinswoman Elizabeth. She interceded with her Son at the wedding feast of Cana when she saw that there was a shortage of wine. She bore in her heart, throughout the pilgrimage of her life, the words of the elderly Simeon who foretold that a sword would pierce her soul, and with persevering strength she stood at the foot of the cross of Jesus. She knows the way, and for this reason she is the Mother of all of the sick and suffering. To her we can turn with confidence and filial devotion, certain that she will help us, support us and not abandon us. She is the Mother of the crucified and risen Christ: she stands beside our crosses and she accompanies us on the journey towards the resurrection and the fullness of life. 5. Saint John, the disciple who stood with Mary beneath the cross, brings us to the sources of faith and charity, to the heart of the God who is love (1 Jn 4:8,16). He reminds us that we cannot love God if we do not love our brothers and sisters. Those who stand with Mary beneath the cross learn to love as Jesus does. The cross is the certainty of the faithful love which God has for us. A love so great that it enters into our sin and forgives it, enters into our suffering and gives us the strength to bear it. It is a love which enters into death to conquer it and to save us the cross of Christ invites us also to allow ourselves to be smitten by his love, teaching us always to look upon others with mercy and tenderness, especially those who suffer, who are in need of help (Way of the Cross with Young People, Rio de Janeiro, 26 July 2013). I entrust this Twenty-second World Day of the Sick to the intercession of Mary. I ask her to help the sick to bear their sufferings in fellowship with Jesus Christ and to support all those who care for them. To all the ill, and to all the healthcare workers and volunteers who assist them, I cordially impart my Apostolic Blessing. FRANCIS

Thank you to everyone who came to the Monday evening session with Terri Preskar and Terrie Baldwin. Over 30 parishioners were in attendance and most every parish ministry represented. We watched a movie on discipleship; created a list of the things we at St. Stan s do very well; heard about Stewardship lived and various resources; discovered the angel that is EvANGELization; and were encouraged to invite each other and others to grow in the practice of our Faith. And, we enjoyed amazing bakery provided by the Hospitality Committee and had time to greet one another and catch up on our parish connections. Ludzkie serce podróż w głębię bez tajemnic Niesamowita jest wędrówka w głębię kosmosu. Przy pomocy niezwykle czułych urządzeń, człowiek może przyglądać się początkom wszechświata. Zachwyca podróż w głębię materii, której budowa wciąż pozostaje nieodgadniona. Porywa sięganie do głębin, oceanów, tam, gdzie nie może jeszcze fizycznie dotrzeć człowiek. Wszystko to sprawia, że wciąż przesuwają się granice poznania materialnego świata. O ileż bardziej jednak fascynujące jest ludzkie serce, które upodobał sobie Bóg. Wciąż istnieje potrzeba odkrywania jego głębi, niezwykłej przestrzeni człowieczeństwa, którego nieskończoność potrafi określić jedynie Boża miłość. Wolność jest tą wartością, która w sposób szczególny charakteryzuje człowieka. Korzystanie z niej domaga się jednak od niego wielkiej mądrości, jest wymagająca. Pouczenia, które wypowiada mędrzec, dotyczące ludzkich wyborów, wprowadzają nas w ową przestrzeń ludzkiego serca (Syr). To w nim rodzi się decyzja związana z życiem lub śmiercią, błogosławieństwem lub przekleństwem. Ku tej głębi prowadził także Jezus swoich słuchaczy; ustanawiając Nowe Prawo, nie zmieniał tego, co już istniało, lecz wszystko udoskonalił swoją boską władzą (Mt). Nauczanie Jezusa dotyczy ludzkiego serca, określa granice prawdziwej miłości. Gdy na krzyżu wypełnią się Jego słowa, wówczas ukaże się mądrość Boża, o której pisze św. Paweł (1 Kor). To ona odsłoni prawdę o miłości ukrzyżowanej, o Bożym sercu, które bez końca umiłowało człowieka. Każdy z nas wezwany jest do nieustannej wędrówki w głąb siebie, aby tam odnajdować granice swego serca. Rozpoznawać nowe wymiary naszego człowieczeństwa. Staje się ono coraz bardziej bogate, jeśli na drodze jego rozwoju towarzyszy nam Boża miłość. To ona sprawia, że więź z Bogiem rozwija się i umacnia, gdy człowiek spotyka się ze Stwórcą w swoim sercu. Im lepiej dostrzegamy głębię swego serca, której naturą jest miłość, tym bardziej autentyczną staje się nasza komunia z Bogiem. Zachęcają nas do tego słowa wieszcza narodowego, aby sięgać tam, gdzie wzrok nie sięga (A. Mickiewicz). To głębia ludzkiego serca sprawia, że ludzkie życie jest piękne, wartościowe, cudowne i fascynujące. Bardziej niż nieodgadnione wymiary kosmosu, czy też przestrzenie istniejącej materii. Idąc za głosem Bożym, mamy możliwość poznawania tego, co istnieje w nas samych: dobra, piękna, szlachetności, prawości. Te i inne wartości odkryje tylko ten, kto potrafi, patrząc na swoje serce, rozpoznawać coraz bardziej jego prawdziwą, bo boską głębię; to w niej Bóg chce przebywać w sercach prawych i szczerych (Kolekta). WIELKI POST Powoli przybliża się czas Wielkiego Postu. Dlatego chcemy się podzielić naszymi propozycjami odnoszącymi się do n a b o ż e ń s t w wielkopostnych. Proponujemy w tym roku pewne zmiany czasu ich odprawiania. Nabożeństwo Gorzkich Żali z w y s t a w i e n i e m Najświętszego Sakramentu będzie bezpośrednio po Mszy św. o godz. 10:00 AM. W ten sposób to nabożeństwo stanie się dostępne młodszej generacji, która inaczej mogłaby nie mieć okazji, aby zetknąć się z tą piękną pobożną i tradycją. Proponujemy także, aby nabożeństwo Drogi Krzyżowej po polsku było odprawiane w każdy piątek wieczorem o godz. 6:00. I ostatnie ogłoszenie: liturgia Męki Pańskiej w Wielki Piątek zacznie się o godz. 7:00 wieczorem. Wszelkie komentarze prosimy kierować do ks. Bożka i ks. Orzecha. WOLNE INTENCJE MSZALNE W DNI POWSZEDNIE Wspaniałą tradycją w Kościele katolickim jest pamięć o tych, których kochamy - zarówno żyjących jak i zmarłych w szczególny sposób podczas Mszy św. Intencja mszalna wymieniona w niniejszym biuletynie jest szczególną intencją, w której modli się celebrans w czasie danej Mszy św. Pragniemy poinformować, że jest wiele nie zarezerwowanych Mszy św. w dni powszednie w najbliższych miesiącach. Ochotnik poszukiwany!!! Mamy bardzo delikatną, a jednak ważną sprawę. Cieszymy się z faktu, że nie brakuje nam ministrantów służących do Mszy św. o godz. 10:00. To bardzo pozytywne biorąc pod uwagę, że nie zawsze jest przynajmniej jeden ministrant na innych Mszach św. A jednak nierzadko zdarza się, że ministranci zostawiają bałagan w pomieszczeniu, gdzie są komże. Czasem po Mszy św. leżą one zostawione na podłodze lub są porzucane w nieładzie gdziekolwiek. Może dzieje się tak tylko dlatego, że nikt nie pokazał młodym ministrantom, jak porządnie powiesić z powrotem szafie używane podczas Mszy św. szaty liturgiczne. Prosimy o zgłoszenie się kogoś, najlepiej z grona rodziców ministrantów, kto poświęciłby po Mszy św. kilka minut, aby pokazać swoim pociechom, że nie jest to takie trudne, a wymaga jedynie odrobinę wysiłku i dobrej woli.
