The raffle tickets have been flowing in, the baskets have been lining up on the rectory basement tables (WE STILL NEED MORE), the lemons have been squeezed, the ducks are ordered and shaking in their boots, the advertising has been sent out, the security has been set, the menu has been mapped out, the bands have been hired. Things are moving along as well as possible. We are glad to see how many 7 book club members we have again this year! The lucky winner of that drawing will be announced on October 6th along with the other raffle winners. Just a note, if EVERYONE sold or purchased the tickets we were sent in the mail, we would not even need to have a festival. The reality is, many people think we are rolling in dough here at St. Stanislaus. Well, that has NEVER been the case and it never will be the case unless one of us wins the Megamillions and leaves a nice big endowment to the parish. In the meantime, we have to all pitch in and make this event happen because we do need cash (check out those windows which are SLOWLY being worked on, check out that roof which will run us a small gold mine to replace before too long, listen to what still works on the organ which began being restored and then was halted in its tracks due to the need of money elsewhere, complain about the cold or the heat in Winter and Summer...the list goes on and on and on.) Well, it s best to think positive. We will get it all done. Many people believe in this place and they show it by helping with their own bodies as well as their financial means. Quite a number of people have become sponsors for the festival! THANK YOU! That little sacrifice on your part will enable us to cover numerous costs in advance of the event and make things easier. With the additional work being done by Larry Bender and Mike Sipko (and others I may have omitted accidentally) the funds generated by the festival booklet will be a great help this year. The idea is not new, but we have finally embraced it at this parish. Each year this area of the festival will become increasingly beneficial as we get our footing. Thanks goes out t those who believed in taking on this gargantuan project. Just in case some parishioners have not yet turned in their sponsorship envelopes, the deadline for doing so (in order to have your name included in the booklet) is the Sunday collection of Sept. 22. After that we will gladly accept donations, but your name will have to be left out as the printer has her own deadlines to keep. We are not out of the woods yet. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! You will see Sharon Kozak s appeal in this bulletin addressing this issue. As our population ages (no, the grey hairs we all seem to be sporting are not the result following some fashion trend) we need some younger parishioners to step up and help. If you have never volunteered before, give it a try. Get to know some parishioners you may have never met before! As far as I can tell, none of them bite! If anyone tells you otherwise we want to see proof (Rabies shot papers etc ). The appeal for volunteers extends to all areas of the festival. Some people simply cannot be here all three days because of other commitments with children s games or other family obligations. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not think you can NOT be helpful. We seriously will use your talents someplace. With our extended hours, we place out a special appeal to our Polish parishioners as we will need extra help to cover things in the social center during those extended hours. And, before I forget, please remember to BAKE! We always need bakery to sell at our booth, but we do ask that you bring things that do not require refrigeration (the refrigerators are always too full to share space). Also, items should be delivered no later than noon on Sunday. More next week...onward AND UPWARD! David Krakowski
THEY RE HERE!!!! The long awaited Parish Directories are here!! Thank you so much to all of you who took the time to sit for your portraits, and especially those who submitted pictures of our parish life. This project could never have happened without you!! Special thanks is due to Debby Walasek who created the beautiful picture that appears on the cover and Rob Jagelewski who wrote the piece on our parish s history! Those who had a portrait taken or who submitted a picture can pick up their FREE copy of the directory at the rectory. Submitted pictures will also be returned to you at that time. There are a few additional copies available for purchase for $10 each. SUNDAY LUNCHEONS AT THE CENTRUM On Sept. 8th the Polish American Cultural Center on Lansing resumes the tradition of great Sunday luncheons from 11 AM 1:30 PM. $11 for adults and $6 for school children. INFANTS AND TODDLERS OF SLAVIC VILLAGE THANKS goes out to the generosity, compassion and hard work of Penny and David Trowbridge of Strongsville for donating a bountiful basket of their fresh home grown vegetables! DON T FORGET YOUR GIFT CARDS...they help fund our parish ministries! And they make people HAPPY! SHRINE CHURCH OF ST. STANISLAUS TOWN HALL MEETING All parishioners will soon be invited to take part in a special town hall style meeting to help answer questions to benefit us now and in the future, address concerns, listen to positive suggestions and the like.(in other words, leave the past in the past ) Weekend Mass schedule? Evening weekday Mass? Weekday evening Polish Mass? Devotions? Evening office hours? At this time we think the middle of October might be a good time for this event since the festival will be behind us at that time. Suggestions for a date? A time? A place? Please let anyone on the rectory staff or on the parish council know what your suggestions might be. We will do our best to choose a date (or dates) to accommodate as many parishioners as possible.

Katecheza w nowym roku szkolnym. ZAPRASZAMY I ZACHĘCAMY W ROKU WIARY!
