Będąc uniwersalnym środkiem przeciwko złu, które nęka ludzkość, adoracja jest czerpaniem miłości Bożej z samego jej źródła. Adoracja eucharystyczna praktykowana jest w Kościele już od wielu wieków. Jej korzenie sięgają wczesnochrześcijań skiej praktyki przechowywania Ciała Chrystusa z myślą o chorych. Kolejnym etapem było przedłużone wznoszenie Hostii podczas sprawowania Mszy św., skąd już niedaleka droga do pojawienia się monstrancji. Do szczególnego rozwoju kultu eucharystycznego przyczynił się Sobór Trydencki, który w dokumencie z 1551r. zalecił adorację uroczystą, publiczną, z wyjściem poza mury kościoła. Wszelkiego rodzaju ataki Reformacji przeciwko rzeczywistej obecności Jezusa w Najświętszym Sakramencie wywołały falę tym większej pobożności eucharystycznej w Kościele. Jest to okres wielu zniesławień, lecz także bardzo wielu cudów eucharystycznych, które przyczyniały się do adorowania z wiarą tego największego Skarbu ludzkości na ziemi. W okresie Oświecenia - szerzącego niechęć dla wiary, a ubóstwiającego metodę "szkiełka i oka" - Diderot przepowiadał obalenie religii przez potęgę rozumu i nauki. Tymczasem, ruch eucharystycznej adoracji obejmował coraz więcej kościołów i parafii. Św. Alfons Liguori (1696-1787) zarządził na terenie swej diecezji wystawienie Najświętszego Sakramentu każdego wieczora. Taka całonocna adoracja istniała w kościele Santa Maria sopra Minerva w Rzymie już od 1538 r. Półtora wieku później, św. Małgorzacie Marii Alacoque - zakonnicy z Paray-le-Monial we Francji - objawił się Jezus, wskazując na swe Serce gorejące nieskończoną miłością, lecz wzgardzone i odepchnięte przez tak wielu ludzi. Jezus nauczył zakonnicę z Paray-le-Monial odprawiania "godziny świętej", polegającej na wynagradzającej adoracji w nocy z czwartku na piątek. W tym samym duchu miłości wynagradzającej, wyrażającej się przez nieustanną adorację, wzniesiono w sto lat później Bazylikę Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego na paryskim wzgórzu Montmartre. Dzień i noc, nieprzerwanie od 1885 r., trwa w niej eucharystyczna adoracja przed Chrystusem w monstrancji. Światowe centrum kultu Serca Jezusowego jest miejscem niezliczonych łask i nawróceń. Cdn...
