We are collecting cereal, peanunt butter, macaroni and cheeese, soup, rice, canned fruit and other canned goods. Actually, anything you donate in the line of shelf food is appreciated and well used. Thank you from the Outreach group BLESSING OF POPE ST. JOHN PAUL II STATUE We are very appreciative to the Parishioners who have donated funds to honor Pope St. John Paul II by having a statue commissioned to be erected here at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. On Sunday, May 24th, at 3:oopm, there will be a special Mass in the Auditorium to be concelebrated by Most Reverend Bishop William F. Murphy and Most Reverend Bishop Andrzej Zglejszewski in all three languages. Knights of Columbus Raffle Tickets The Charity Drive raffle tickets will be sold following all masses on the weekends of May 16th & May 17th. Parade The 64th Annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on May 25th. The parade will kick off from the corner of Great Neck Rd and Dixon Ave at 10:00AM. A memorial Ceremony will take place at the OLA Shrine at 9:30AM. Poppies Members of the VFW Warren Keer Post 9482 will be offering poppies for donations prior to Memorial Day. Składamy serdeczne Bóg zapłać wszystkim, którzy poprzez złożone donacje włączyli się w to dzieło. Uroczystość poświęcenia pomnika z udziałem ks. Biskupa William a Murphy oraz ks. Biskupa Andrzeja Zglejszewskiego odbędzie się w niedzielę 24 maja 2015. Uroczysta Msza św. w trzech językach zostanie odprawiona tego dnia o godz. 15:00 w audytorium. Poświęcenie pomnika odbędzie się bezpośrednio po Mszy św. Wszystkich serdecznie zapraszamy do wzięcia udziału w tej uroczystości! W niedzielę 24 maja nie będzie Mszy św. o godz. 17:00! All these devoted themselves to prayer... together with Mary the mother of Jesus (Acts 1:14). These words describe the Apostles after the Ascension of Jesus, waiting in prayer for the coming of the Holy Spirit. This is where we find ourselves today: having celebrated the Ascension of Jesus on Thursday and looking forward to Pentecost next Sunday. As I write these words, I am reminded that this is the same Holy Spirit that I prayed to for guidance before writing. This is the same Spirit that I (and each of you) received at our Confirmation. Today s first reading describes Peter s actions of choosing a replacement for Judas, and the lot fell upon Matthias. The second reading tells us of God s love for us, and urges us to similarly love one another. And in the Gospel we here Jesus great prayer for each of us: Holy Father, keep them in your name... This coming week is a wonderful time for all of us to keep our thoughts united with Mary and the Apostles as they wait for the Holy Spirit. And on Tuesday, the Holy Spirit will descend upon our young people in the sacrament of Confirmation. Please pray for them. Agnes Scheuermann
