Romans 8:31b The second collection this weekend is designated for the Church in Latin America PARISH RETREAT The season of Spring is always associated with new life, development and growth. Lent is the Spring season in our spiritual life. On Saturday, March 21 st until March 25 th we are offering the opportunity to participate in the Lenten retreat. The Retreat Master is Rev. Christopher Wieliczko, former Provincial of the Pauline Fathers in the United States with headquarters in Doylestown, PA. Besides Sunday Mass, everyone is expected to participate in the retreat on Monday (English), Tuesday (Polish) and Wednesday (bilingual). We especially urge all parish ministries, and organizations to take part in this sacred time in our parish. Please mark your calendar and encourage your family members, friends and neighbors to join you. SAINT JOSEPH PARISH FESTIVAL 36 The first General Meeting of the Festival took place on Tuesday, March 3 rd at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Unfortunately, the attendance was disappointing. The General Meeting of parishioners and school parents is important to provide new ideas, solicit help and create a network of mutual support in a common purpose. It is our understanding that the small crowd was not the result of a negative attitude, uncaring or indifference by the parishioners and parents, but the cold weather and slippery roads hindered attendance. About 18 people who attended enthusiastically vowed their help and commitment to this important social, cultural and fundraising event which has a long tradition in our parish. We expect and hope that you will complete the festival volunteer forms which are located at the entrance of the church or in the pews and return them in the collection basket as soon as possible. We are especially concerned for workers in the kitchen which are needed for several days prior to the festival, set-up people and help after the festival to dismantle the booths. BURNING OF THE MORTGAGE BARBECUE This is a wonderful opportunity for the parish community to come together and celebrate the milestone achievement of eliminating the renovation debt. Not only are we happy that the debt was paid but the project itself is admired by outsiders and praised by our parishioners. I would like to bring to your attention a beautiful pictorial article about the Basilica which is presented in the Worcester Living Magazine bi-monthly publication for March/April 2009 for $3.95. It is available in magazine stands in local stores. Any close-knit community with such an achievement when it is paid feels a spontaneous need to get together to celebrate in a spirit of joy and solidarity. Tickets will be sold this weekend after all Masses. Considering the limited space in the cafeteria, seats will be available on a first-come first-served basis. PARTNERS IN CHARITY On the weekend of March 15, the annual campaign for Partners in Charity will take place at all Masses. The majority of you who contributed last year received a letter from the bishop explaining the use of the money and the need to continue to serve people of need in our diocese. A great percentage of this money goes for continuing the work of 29 charitable, educational and pastoral agencies. The quota for our parish is $20,250. I am aware of our economic situation and your limited resources but I hope and pray that we could again this year meet our quota. Thank you for your generosity and understanding. Abraham was so devoted to God that he was willing to sacrifice his only son. How does our own devotion compare? KRONIKA PARAFIALNA DRUGA NIEDZIELA WIELKIEGO POSTU Ewangelia drugiej niedzieli Wielkiego Postu opowiada o przemienieniu Jezusa na górze Tabor. Poprzedza je zapowiedź męki i zaproszenie do naśladowania Jezusa na drodze krzyża. Krzyż i uwielbienie są ze sobą nierozerwalnie związane. Stanowią całość, bez której nie zrozumiemy tajemnicy Jezusa. Jezus, mając świadomość bliskiej męki, chciał umocnić wiarę uczniów przed tymi niezwykle trudnymi wydarzeniami. Dlatego w czasie przemienienia odsłonił przed nimi swoje bóstwo, ukazał im część swojej chwały, aby w godzinie próby nie zwątpili. Każda Eucharystia jest dla nas taką chwilą przemienienia. Jezus na naszych oczach przemienia chleb w swoje Ciało i wino w swoją Krew. Czyni to dla nas, aby umacniać naszą wiarę, abyśmy nie zwątpili w czasie próby. Pamiętajmy o tym ilekroć uczestniczymy we Mszy św. i dziękujmy Jezusowi za jego obecność wśród nas. DLA DZIECI W następną niedzielę, 15 marca, na Mszę Św. o godz. 11.00 zapraszamy rodziców z dziećmi i prosimy o zajmowanie miejsc w pierwszych ławkach. Wraz z dziećmi będziemy się modlić i rozważać Słowo Boże, a oprawę muzyczną przygotowuje, jak zwykle, zespół Bazyliszki. ZMIANA TAJEMNIC RÓŻAŃCOWYCH W przyszłą niedzielę, 15 marca, po Mszy Św. o godz. 11.00 odbędzie się zmiana tajemnic różańcowych dla członków naszych Róż. Bardzo prosimy o pozostanie w kościele. Chcemy również przy okazji skompletować listy osób należących do Róż Różańcowych, co bardzo ułatwi nam komunikację. W drugiej Róży są jeszcze wolne miejsca. Zapraszamy nowych członków do przyłączenia się do wspólnej modlitwy. Może to być jedno z postanowień wiekopostnych. JAŁMUŻNA WIELKOPOSTNA Jałmużna jest obok modlitwy i postu jednym z najważniejszych dobrych uczynków, o których mówi Jezus w Ewangelii a Kościół zachęca do ich praktykowania szczególnie w Wielkim Poście. Możliwości jest wiele. Jedną z nich jest doroczna, diecezjalna akcja Partners in Charity. W ramach tej akcji zbierane są pieniądze na prowadzenie różnych dzieł charytatywnych w ramach naszej diecezji. W ubiegłym roku zebrano łącznie ponad $4,8 mln. Każda parafia ma przydzieloną swoją kwotę, którą powinna zebrać w zależności od wielkości i zamożności. Składka na ten cel odbędzie się w naszej parafii w przyszłą niedzielę 15 marca. Z góry dziękujemy za złożenie hojniejszej ofiary. Bóg zapłać! AUKCJA Doroczna aukcja na rzecz Szkoły Św. Józefa odbędzie się 28 marca o godz. 6.00 w restauracji Point Breeze.
