And immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way. Faith is believing in something even though you may not be able to see it. Many people think that miracles don t happen anymore. But, if you focus on the positive, not the negative, focus on your blessings instead of your hardships, miracles will seem common. THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME October 25, 2015 The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad indeed. -Psalm 126:3 TRUE BLINDNESS Bartimaeus caused a stir. Normally he sat by the side of the road being a good blind beggar. But one day Jesus passed nearby, Bartimaeus jumped up and called out to Jesus. We can imagine him turning toward the direction of the commotion and noise. Bartimaeus probably had his arms outstretched as he shouted out to the son of David. The people who knew him were embarrassed by his outburst. They tried to hush him up and get him to sit back down by the roadside. Their actions spoke volumes: Bartimaeus, you re not fit for Jesus. But it was okay for them and other sighted people to follow Jesus. In today s readings, we learn that true blindness is not a condition of our eyes but of our hearts. The second collection this week is for Liga Katolicka in support of Polish priests and religious across the world, Polish-American students, Catholic institutions in Poland and for lay leaders serving Polonia in the U.S.A. Next weekend s second collection is designated for parish obligations to the Diocese. Please join our Religious Education Students at the Living Rosary sponsored by the Holy Rosary Sodality on Monday, October 26th at 5:30pm. The 7:00pm devotions will not be held on Monday. St. John Paul II Day - which was noted in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 17th was very moving, educational and inspiring, especially the Mass at 4:00pm celebrated by Bishop Edward Grosz from the Diocese of Buffalo, NY. People from many states were present for this most special occasion. Page 3 NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH Please join us on Wednesday evening, October 28 at 7:00pm for our weekly Novena and Devotion to St. Joseph at our Basilica. Participation in Devotion is a wonderful opportunity for all who seek Divine intervention in our personal and family life through the intercession of our Patron. Needed graces which we receive are obvious proof that God cares for our well being. Parish Council members will assist in bringing the St. Joseph statue into the sanctuary. Please submit your petitions to be read during the devotion. Thank you for your offerings. CEMETERY/HOLY GROUND During this colorful time of the year with falling leaves, shorter days and colder temperatures our thoughts turn to the meaning of life. The cemetery is holy ground where the remains of our loved ones await resurrection. Although they are out of sight, our obligations to them lives on within us. Their names are engraved on the monuments and columbarium niches and their memories linger in our hearts. They played an important role in our lives and we are indebted to them. Annual Cemetery Procession - please join us on Sunday, November 1st at St. Joseph Garden of Peace at 2:00pm. Remembering your loved ones for your convenience special votive candles to be placed on grave sites at our cemetery during our procession on Nov. 1st will be on sale on Sat. and Sun., Oct. 24 & 25th at the entrance to the Basilica. The placing of candles and flowers is a sign of gratitude for our relatives and is an expression of faith and a sign of prayerful remembrance. In some cases there are a many candles on the same grave which indicates the closeness of the family. One form of remembrance is called wypominki when you submit names of your deceased loved ones and return in the collection basket. Please print names legibly. Masses are offered almost every week for names listed on the envelope. On Nov., 2nd, All Soul s Day, the Universal Church entreats God s mercy on all those who still wait in Purgatory to enter God s kingdom. It is a time to offer prayers, masses and acts of charity in their memory. These acts of kindness are a sign of love and at the same time extends the mission of the deceased one in the Catholic Church. On this day every person feels the need to be in church and pray for their loved ones to obtain an indulgence and help those who desperately need our assistance. Special offer-during the month of November at the St. Joseph Garden of Peace. We offer single grave lots at a 10% discount and multiple lots at a 15% discount. If interested in taking advantage of this offer please call the rectory for details. Rodzinnej. NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA Cotygodniowa Nowenna do św. Obecny układ Mszy pozostaje do końca października. PROCESJA NA CMENTARZU Jesienna aura za oknami, spadające z drzew kolorowe liście, krótsze dni i dłuższe, zimniejsze noce nastrajają do refleksji nad celem i sensem naszej egzystencji. Mimo, że bliscy nasi znikają sprzed naszego oblicza, to jednak pozostają pośród nas we wspomnieniach i żywej miłości okazywanej w modlitwie. 16:00.
