105. However, in all these sufferings and struggles, I was not omitting Holy Communion. When it seemed to me that I should not communicate, I went, before Holy Communion, to the Directress and told her that I could not approach the Sacrament, because it seemed to me that I should not do so. But she would not permit me to omit Holy Communion, so I went, and I understand now that it was only obedience that saved me. The Directress herself told me later that my trials had passed quickly, and this solely because you were obedient, Sister; and it was through the power of obedience that you struggled through this so bravely. It is true that it was the Lord Himself who brought me out of this torment, but my fidelity to obedience did please Him. 263. + The week for confession came and, to my great joy, I saw the priest I had known before coming to Vilnius. [That is to say,] I had known him by seeing him in a vision. At that moment, I heard these words in my soul: This is My faithful servant; he will help you to fulfill My will here on earth. Yet, I did not open myself to him as the Lord wishes. And for some time I struggled against grace. During each confession, God s grace penetrated me in a very special way, yet I did not reveal my soul before him, and I had the intention of not going to confession to that priest. After this decision, a terrible anxiety entered my soul. God reproached me severely. When I did lay bare my soul completely to this priest, Jesus poured an ocean of graces into it. Now I understand what it means to be faithful to a particular grace. That one grace draws down a whole series of others. 352. At the chapter, Mother [Borgia] stressed a life of faith and fidelity in small things. Half way through the chapter, I heard these words: I desire that you would all have more faith at the present time. How great is My joy at the faithfulness of My spouse in the smallest things. Then I looked at the crucifix and saw that Jesus head was turned towards the refectory, and His lips were moving. When I told Mother Superior about it, she answered, You see, Sister, how Jesus demands that our life be a life of faith. 1173. In spite of the profound peace my soul is enjoying, I am struggling continuously, and it is often a hard-fought battle for me to walk faithfully along my path; that is, the path which the Lord Jesus wants me to follow. And my path is to be faithful to the will of God in all things and at all times, especially by being faithful to inner inspirations in order to be a receptive instrument in God s hands for the carrying out of the work of His fathomless mercy. Kiedy zdawało mi się, że nie powinnam komunikować, wtedy szłam przed Komunią świętą do Mistrzyni i powiedziałam jej, że nie mogę iść do Komunii świętej - zdaje mi się, że nie powinnam przystępować. Ona mi jednak nie pozwalała opuszczać Komunii świętej; i poszłam, i poznałam, że uratowało mnie tylko posłuszeństwo. Sama Mistrzyni później powiedziała mi, że te doświadczenia przeszły u mnie prędko tylko dlatego, że - siostra była posłuszna; moc posłuszeństwa tylko, że siostra tak mężnie przebrnęła. Prawda, że Pan sam mnie wyprowadził z tej męki, ale wierność posłuszeństwu podobała Mu się. 263 + Nadszedł tydzień spowiedzi i ku mojej radości ujrzałam tego kapłana, którego już znałam wpierw, nim przyjechałam do Wilna. Znałam go w widzeniu. - Wtem usłyszałam w duszy te słowa: Oto wierny sługa Mój, on ci dopomoże spełnić wolę Moją tu na ziemi. Jednak nie dałam się mu poznać tak, jako życzył sobie Pan. I przez jakiś czas walczyłam z łaską. W każdej spowiedzi dziwnie mnie przenikała łaska Boża, jednak nie odsłaniałam duszy przed nim i zamierzałam się nie spowiadać przed tym kapłanem. Po tym postanowieniu straszny niepokój wstąpił w duszę moją. Silnie mnie Bóg strofował. Kiedy odsłoniłam całą swą duszę przed tym kapłanem, Jezus zlał na duszę moją całe morze łask. Teraz rozumiem, co to jest wierność jednej pojedynczej łasce, a ona sprowadza cały szereg innych. 352 Na tej kapitule Matka podkreślała życie z wiary i wierność w drobnych rzeczach. - W połowie kapituły usłyszałam te słowa: Pragnę, ażeby było w was więcej wiary w obecnych chwilach. Jak wielką Mi radość sprawia wierność Mojej oblubienicy w rzeczach najmniejszych! Wtem spojrzałam na krzyż i ujrzałam, jak Jezus miał głowę zwróconą na refektarz i poruszały się usta Jego. 1173 Pomimo głębokiego spokoju, jakim się cieszy dusza moja, ustawicznie walczę, i to nieraz prowadzę zaciętą walkę o to, aby iść wiernie drogą swoją, to jest tą, którą chce Pan Jezus, abym nią szła. A drogą moją jest wierność woli Bożej we wszystkim i zawsze, a szczególnie przez wierność wewnętrznym natchnieniom, aby być podatnym narzędziem w ręku Boga dla przeprowadzenia dzieła Jego niezgłębionego miłosierdzia.

Bishop Mark O Connell has organized a group wedding, for those in the North Region of the Archdiocese of Boston, on Friday, October 4th at 6:00pm at Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, 250 Revere Street, Revere. The ceremony will be designed for couples not married in the Church to validate their marriages before Bishop O Connell. During the wedding ceremony, each couple will say their vows separately before him and their two witnesses. Saint John Paul II Shrine of Divine Mercy 28 St. Peter Street Salem, MA 01970 THE NEW ALTAR and IMPROVEMENTS IN OUR SHRINE Plans are underway for the new altar at our shrine. The Shrine has been blessed by the financial support from many donors. An amount of $60,000 has been raised to cover the cost of the altar. We also received a donation to cover the cost of the two images on either side of the altar. Currently the altar is being constructed in Poland and it will be sent here by ship. There s also an HVAC system in our plans to make the upper church more comfortable and also to fight with moisture in the upper church. We are also thinking about an elevator/lift to make our upper church available for everyone where the main altar with all the relics will be installed. We want it to be available for everyone so the next step is to make handicap bathrooms accessible. In the meantime, there is work to be done in preparation for the new altar. The masonry outside the church has been repaired as well as several small roof leaks. New gutters have been installed on the rectory. The inside walls behind the altar have been sealed and painted. The presbytery will have to be painted before the altar is installed. These repairs and renovations are costly and we need to raise funds for this purpose. You may also notice new insulated windows in the assembly room and the upper sacristy. These are a great improvement which will save on heating and cooling costs. There is also new fencing in front of the church. We are also in the process of looking to reopen our school building. This is a daunting task as the building needs major renovations. There are many men in the shrine community who have offered their time and skills to complete these projects. We would only have to pay for materials. In order to have heat and water in the school the pipes need to be repaired. The Archdiocese will cover this cost through insurance; however, we must have the asbestos covering the pipes removed. Asbestos removal is also necessary on the boiler and in the cafeteria. The second collections are presently held for this reason. I am grateful to those who, through spiritual and physical help, engage in the development of our church and school buildings. We wish to have the shrine attract many people who will find spiritual fulfillment and become disciples sharing the word of Christ to others.
