Dear Parishioners and Friends, Today s Gospel, just like last week s, points to Christ as a healer and a prophet, which reaffirms the marks of his mission. I think that, even today, we are amazed when we hear about a miraculous healing. It should be added: we are amazed to hear of the healing of an incurable disease. And, also in our times, a miracle is one of the conditions in the process of beatification and canonization. Jesus Christ heals a leper. Leprosy is a dreaded disease. But, what is the greatest tragedy of this disease? Patients with leprosy become self-loathing. Even if it appears that they are reconciled with this disease, somewhere in the depths of their feeling is the stigma of disability. According to people involved in patients with leprosy, the changes are sometimes so strong that a person is unable to accept himself, and are also hindered in attempts to build relationships with others. Just as the disease of leprosy changes man, paralyzes his nerves, and causes difficulty in breathing, it also results in an unsightly appearance, so that leprosy can bring on destructive spiritual changes. The causes are often different. It may begin with the seemingly harmless "contact" with some sin, it may come from failing to pray, and step by step they are going away from God and the Church. The result, unfortunately, remains the same there are changes, they cease to be themselves. And it's not about the trite clichés that are seen in advertisements. We are talking about the deepest sense of who we are. When we stop being what we should be, and it may happen over years, most importantly, the image of God may become blurred. Lepers believe that Jesus can help them, and so they ask him to be cleaned: If you wish, you can make me clean. Jesus heals him saying: " I do will it. Be made clean ". Behind these simple words is the hidden will of God, wanting to help his children. The will, which extends from the creation of man, covers the life of every one of us and lasts until the resurrection. This is the resurrection: to rise again, to become themselves. Resurrection is a condition to which we were created. This is a situation that Jesus wants for us. This is the future, for which we yearn more or less consciously. Last week I asked you to help our parish in material needs. I asked you not to underestimate this request; do not say not me, maybe someone else. The Annual Catholic Appeal is not just another second collection. The theme for the 2012 Annual Catholic Appeal is "Be imitators of Christ!" Let's show our responsibility for St. Ladislaus parish also in terms of the material, following the concern of Christ for His Church. I offer my heartfelt thanks to you for all that you do for St. Ladislaus parish, for your sacrifice and support. May God reward you with His blessing and graces! Jacek Wrona, Pastor Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele, Ewangelia z dzisiejszej niedzieli, tak jak tydzień temu, pokazuje na Chrystusa jak uzdrowiciela, Proroka, który potwierdza swoją misję znakami. Myślę, że nie znajdziemy bardziej przemawiającego do człowieka znaku niż cudowne uzdrowienie. Należy tu dodać: uzdrowienie z nieuleczalnej choroby. Do dzisiaj jest to jeden z warunków w procesie beatyfikacyjnym i kanonizacyjnym. Chrystus uzdrawia trędowatego. Trąd jest straszliwą chorobą. Na czym polega największy dramat? Chory na trąd nabiera wstrętu do samego siebie. Nawet jeżeli pozornie wydaje się, że jest pogodzony ze swoją ułomnością, to jednak gdzieś w głębi siebie odczuwa piętno kalectwa. Według osób zajmujących się chorymi na trąd, zmiany bywają tak mocne, że człowiek nie jest zdolny by zaakceptować samego siebie, a poza tym próby budowania relacji z innymi, są wystawiane na ciężkie próby. Tak jak choroba trądu zmienia człowieka, paraliżuje jego nerwy, utrudnia oddychanie i w końcu szpeci jego wygląd, tak duchowy trąd przynosi niszczące zmiany. Przyczyny bywają rozmaite. Może się zacząć od wydawałoby się niegroźnego kontaktu z jakimś grzechem, może rezygnacja z modlitwy czy niedostrzeganie, że tak naprawdę oddalam się od Boga i Kościoła. Efekt niestety pozostaje niezmienny zmieniamy się, przestajemy być sobą. I wcale nie chodzi tu o banalny frazes, który spotykany w reklamach. Mówimy o najgłębszym znaczeniu tego, kim jesteśmy. Kiedy zostawiamy to co powinny być i było dla nas przez lata najważniejsze, przekreślamy, zamazujemy jednocześnie podobieństwo do Boga. Trędowaty, wierzy, że Jezus może mu pomóc, i dlatego prosi Go o oczyszczenie. Jezus, uzdrawia chorego, mówiąc krótko: Chcę, bądź oczyszczony. Za tym prostym słowem chcę kryje się wola Boga, pragnącego pomóc Swemu dziecku. Wola, która rozciąga się od stworzenia człowieka, obejmuje życie każdego z nas i zmierza aż do zmartwychwstania. Na tym właśnie polega zmartwychwstanie. Powstać na nowo, stać się sobą. Zmartwychwstanie to stan, do którego zostaliśmy stworzeni. To sytuacja, której chce dla nas Jezus. To przyszłość, za którą mniej czy bardziej świadomie tęsknimy. Tak jak mówiłem tydzień temu proszę, abyście wspomogli naszą parafię swoją ofiarą materialną. Bardzo Was proszę nie zlekceważcie tej prośby, nie mówcie, że może inni pomyślcie jaką kwotę możecie ofiarować. Kwesta Katolicka polega na tym, że spłaty można samemu rozłożyć sobie na kilka dogodnych terminów. I nawet jeżeli nie uda się włacić całej kwoty nikt nie będzie miał problemów z tego powodu. Hasło tegorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej brzmi Bądźcie naśladowcami Chrystusa! Pokażmy naszą odpowiedzialność za swoją parafię także pod względem materialnym, naśladując troskę Chrystusa o Jego Kościół. Za wszystko co robicie dla parafii św. Władysława, za Wasze ofiary i pomoc składam z serca płynące podziękowania. Niech Bóg Wam wynagrodzi swoim błogosławieństwem i łaskami! JESUS WAY Today s readings present a contrast between Jesus way and the old way. An example of the old way is the law given to Moses and Aaron about leprosy: the leper was unclean and cast out of the community. Jesus way is the opposite: the leper is reached out to, touched, and finally cured. Nor ought we think of the old way as restricted to the days of Moses and Aaron, or even to the old testament. The difference between the old way and Jesus way arises in own lives. We still choose, every day, to live in our old way or in Jesus way. Jesus dared to touch a leper, disregarding the old way. The leper then was changed forever. He felt a calling. He couldn t keep himself from proclaiming that he had been touched by Jesus (even though Jesus told him not to!). SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION FOR ADULTS Are you an adult who has not celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation? Żył w III wieku. Był księdzem i lekarzem. W tym okresie cesarz Klaudiusz II zabronił ślubów, twierdząc że żonaci mężczyźni niechętnie wstępowali do armii. Bp. Kult świętego datowany jest bardzo wcześnie, co potwierdza, że był on autentyczną osobą. Św. Walenty jest przede wszystkim patronem chorych na epilepsję, a także pszczelarzy i podróżników. Wzywany jest w czasie plag i epidemii. Zwyczaj wiązania go z zakochanymi jest niedawny, choć od dawna jest patronem par, które mają trudności w zawarciu związku małżeńskiego (np. z powodu mezaliansu). Szczątki św. Walentego przechowywane są w większości w Terni (miejscu urodzenia) ale także... w Polsce, niedaleko Lublina. Modlitwa do św.
