Those of us who have lost our mothers would certainly have one reaction. Those of you who have mothers who are alive might have different feelings. Those of you who might have problems with your mother will have problems with this idea as well. But the Mother who is visiting us is the Mother to all of us, the Mother who can never be taken away, never lost to the ravages of poor health of mind or of body, never distracted by too many children begging for Her attention. She is the ideal mother, the Mother of God and the Mother to us all. Her arrival here in this most unique way this coming Tuesday evening is somewhat of a miracle in its own right. When one of our parishioners visiting from Florida approached me with the information of this travelling icon I was surprised. Then, to my greater surprise, when I contacted Fr. Peter West, the caretaker of the icon during its American journey, I was just amazed that the only available date for us to host Mary was on the feast day of Blessed John Paul II I could hardly believe my ears! Now, the visit will soon be here, the icon will soon be here, Mother will soon be here. I do know that many parishioners are excited about this visit especially those who have a deep devotion to Mary. Whether the church is full or empty, it will not make a difference to those who love Mary. While we do hope for a respectable crowd, it is the faith of the people which decides such things. Hopefully we have adequately explained the essence of what this visit is about and exactly what this icon is. To those who still wonder, the icon which will be here on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning is liturgically and devotionally connected to the very same miraculous icon which is on the high shrine altar in Czestochowa, Poland. In other words, when you walk into this church during Her visit you will be in the presence of the same miraculous icon which has burnt into the hearts of millions of people over the centuries. Don t even think of it as just a cheap copy or reproduction. This is it! This is the real thing! This is the icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa which will be sitting in our sanctuary! The fact that this miraculous image will be here with US, waiting to intercede for US, staring at US, is nothing less that a miracle in itself. I know how frightening it will be to once again look into Her eyes.she knows our thoughts, our failings, our wishes and our fears. SHE IS OUR MOTHER. If She could She would step out of the icon and embrace each one of us and wipe away our tears with tenderness. Don t worry, this WILL happen. If you allow your faith, as weak or strong as it may be, to look at Her as your Mother, it will happen she will embrace you! She will listen to your every word! She will gently scold you! She wants what is best for you, so let Her help! To Jesus through Mary...the thinking of Blessed John Paul and many many many saints before him. If you ask, She will do Her best to pass on your requests to God. If you need Her, She will put you at the top of Her list as only She has the power to do. Remember, we are talking about the one person who became the handmaid of the Lord as none other was ever invited to be. She accepted the honor, some might say the burden as much a Cross as a crown of glory. Mary, the first tabernacle, the new ark of the covenant, now graces us with Her real presence. Miracles do happen...and more can happen right here. Don t be afraid to come spend a little time with Her.She might scold you, but She will ultimately hold you and be your loving Mother. GOT PIEROGI?? The Festival is over and we find ourselves, once again, with a few cases of frozen pierogi which will be made available for sale. The date for this event will be next weekend, October 26-27. The varieties available include: sweet cheese, potato/cheddar, kraut/mushroom, meat, spinach and muehlhausen (a mixture of meat and spinach). They go quickly, so plan on dropping down to the Social Center that weekend to stock up for the holidays! As last year, the price will be $5 per dozen. The goal is to sell out that weekend. SMACZNEGO!!!!! Are you afraid??? Are you afraid to get your hands dirty? We can help you overcome that fear every Wednesday at noon when our extremely tiny cleaning crew gathers to spruce up God s house. Don t use your youth as an excuse! Break away from your soap for a day (you know you never miss anything important on Wednesdays!!). PLEASE. We need help. So many of our holy dusters have gone home to Jesus, but no new dusters have replaced their big shoes. The small team which remains simply cannot do it all. Please do not think you cannot contribute...even if only occasionally. It need not be a weekly commitment. Greetings; I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone here at The Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus who helped me make my summer study abroad in Poland a dream come true! I would like to share a few of my many experiences with all of you: Besides my five week long intensive Polish language class I attended in Krakow.I was also able to take several trips to different historical sites in Poland. While in Krakow, I visited the Concentration Camps in both Auschwitz "Oświęcim" and Birkenau "Brzezinka". I was fortunate enough to visit Pope John Paul II's birthplace in Wadowice. The monastery in Tyniec and the famous salt mine in Wieliczka. All of these historical places made a great impact on me both academically as well as spiritually. Upon the completion of my Polish language course, I was fortunate enough to make a pilgrimage to Rome for five days. It was one of the most inspiring journeys of my life. I could not believe that I was standing inside The Colonnade that Bernini designed. That I stood under the dome of St. Peter's Basilica which Michelangelo himself designed. That I was able to kneel in front of and pray at the great tomb of St. Peter our first Pope and that I knelt in front of the tomb of our beloved soon to be Saint Pope John Paul II. If that wasn't amazing enough I, then walked along the enormous wall of Vatican City on my way to the entrance of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel and it all seemed surreal to me. As I entered the Sistine Chapel, I thought about all of you and wished that you could have been with me at that moment when I first stared up at Michelangelo's image of "The Creation of Adam".I was completely overwhelmed and filled with great emotion and awe to be in such a beautiful place. Well, there are so many more experiences to share, but I have to end because I could go on and on. I do want to extend my special thanks and appreciation to our Pastor, Fr. Eric Orzech for helping me make my trip possible in many different ways and for all of his help with my amazing arrangements while in Poland, especially in Częstochowa while visiting the Shrine of the Black Madonna and of course to all of you who helped and supported me in many different ways. Thank you and God Bless you all! Katherine "Kasia" Lewicki
Najświętsza Panno Maryjo, Przeczysta Matko Boża, Niepokalana Dziewico! W Twoje ręce powierzamy wielką sprawę ochrony cywilizacji życia i miłości. Żyjemy w trudnym czasie wielkiego, globalnego ataku cywilizacji śmierci. Ginie bardzo wielu niewinnych ludzi nienarodzone dzieci, starzy i chorzy. Liczba ofiar przekracza już dwa miliardy ludzkich istnień. Każdego dnia ginie kolejne 50 tysięcy dzieci w łonach matek. Wielu ludzi w ogóle nie chce mieć dzieci. Coraz powszechniejsze stają się środki niszczące płodność i życie. Narasta niepłodność małżonków. Ludzkie dziecko staje się produktem nowoczesnej technologii, dawcą komórek i organów. Wytwarza się dzieci o określonych cechach, pozostałe poddając selekcji. Setki tysięcy zamrożonych poczętych dzieci czeka w ciekłym azocie pomiędzy życiem a śmiercią. Ocal rodziny! Dodaj nam sił! Uproś u Swojego Syna zwycięstwo cywilizacji życia i miłości! Czuwanie Od 6:00 wieczorem we wtorek do 11:00 do południa w środę (22-23 października) w naszym sanktuarium będzie przebywać ikona Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej. Jeśli jednak ktoś pisze odręcznie, prosimy, aby uczynić to DRUKOWANYMI tzn. dużymi literami. PIEROGI, PIEROGI!!! Pierogi w naszej okolicy to chodliwy towar, dlatego kto pierwszy, ten lepszy. Rok temu sprzedawaliśmy po 5 dol. za tuzin. Planujemy sprzedać wszystkie w ten weekend.
