Directive No. 48/2018 of July 17th 2018 of the Rector of the Medical University of Lodz on the introduction of the Regulations of granting the Rector's award for outstanding academic achievements to students of studies conducted in the English language in the fields of medicine, dental medicine and nursing Pursuant to 58 of the Rules and Regulations of Studies at the Medical University of Lodz (Resolution No. 54/2017 of 23 March 2017 of the Senate of the Medical University of Lodz), in connection with 47 it. 4 p. 10 of the Statute of the Medical University of Lodz of 29 September 2011, as amended, I order the following: 1 Hereby introduced are the Regulations of granting the Rector's award for outstanding academic achievements to students of studies conducted in the English language in the fields of medicine, dental medicine and nursing, in an annex to this directive. 2 1. The directive No. 71/2013 of 29 October 2013 of the Rector of the Medical University of Lodz on the introduction of the Regulations of granting the Rector's award for outstanding academic achievements to students of studies conducted in the English language in the fields of medicine, dental medicine and nursing is hereby terminated. 2. Annex to the Directive No. 48 / 2018 of July 17 th 2018 the Rector of the Medical University of Lodz Regulations of granting the Rector's award for outstanding academic achievements to students of studies conducted in the English language in the fields of medicine, dental medicine and nursing I. General provisions 1 1. The Regulations define the criteria and procedure of granting the Rector's award for outstanding academic achievements to students of studies conducted in the English language in the fields of medicine, dental medicine and nursing, hereinafter referred to as the "award". 2. The award is granted by the Rector for a given academic year to one student from the fields of studies referred to in it. 1. 3. The award is granted after the end of the academic year. 4. The amount of the award is determined by the Rector in a separate directive. I. Award criteria 2 1. The award may be granted to a student who, in an academic year for which the award is granted: 1) obtained the GPA of min. 4.5 or; 2) has scientific achievements such as: a) scientific publications with the indication of the Medical University of Lodz as a student's home university, or b) receiving the main award for scientific achievements presented at a national and international scientific conference, or c) receiving the first / main award in competitions for students of medical schools representing the Medical University of Lodz or 3) has artistic achievements or outstanding sports results in international or national competition, representing the Medical University of Lodz. 2. The prize is awarded to the student who obtained the highest number of points awarded for the achievements, with the minimum number of points constituting the basis for applying for the Rector's award being 22.5 points. 3. The criteria of achievement score of the student applying for the Rector's award are specified in Annex No. 1 to the Regulations. 3 1. The prize may be awarded to a student who meets the criteria referred to in 2, and in addition: 1) was granted credits and passed the exams required to complete the year of studies during the examination session determined by the Rector and was enrolled in the subsequent year of studies; 2) in the academic year for which the award is granted, paid the fees for studies and educational services on time; 3) in the academic year for which the award is granted, paid the dormitory fees for residence in the student dormitory on time. 2. A student simultaneously studying several fields of studies may be granted the award only in one of the fields, indicated by the student. 3. The student may apply for the award no sooner than after completing the first year of studies or the student admitted to the first year of studies in the year of passing the high school leaving examination who is a laureate of the international Olympics or a laureate or finalist of the
nationwide Subject Olympics, referred to in the provisions on the education system, whereby the profile of the Olympics must coincide with the area of knowledge to which the field of studies is assigned. 4. The award may also be applied for by a first-year second-cycle student of studies commenced within one year of the completion of the first-cycle studies who met the criteria set out in 2, it. 1-3, in the last year of first-cycle studies. 5. If, on the basis of the criteria set out in 2 it. 1 and 2, the same number of points is obtained by two or more students, the additional criterion for granting the award is the GPA obtained by students in the academic year preceding the year for which the award is granted, and in the case of first-year students of master studies the number of points in the recruitment procedure. III. Award procedure 4 1. The award is granted by the Rector on the student's request, approved by the Dean; the application form for the award is attached as Annex 2 to these Regulations. 2. The student submits the application for the award to the Administrative Center for Studies in English until 15 September of the academic year for which the award is granted. To the application for the award the student should attach the documents confirming the outstanding achievements in studies, referred to in 2. 3. The Rector's decision cannot be appealed, however a dissatisfied student may submit to the Rector a request for reconsideration within 14 days from the date of delivery of the decision. 4. The student who has received an award may be required to pay income tax from natural persons under the Act of 26 July 1991 on personal income tax (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2018, it. 200, as amended). All information regarding the possibility of obtaining exemption from taxation or double taxation is obtained individually by the student in an appropriate office or embassy.
