Page Four 4 TH GRADE NEWS Students are currently engrossed in their chapter book, Because of Winn-Dixie. Along with enjoying this wonderful book by Kate DiCamillo and applying our 4 th grade Reading skills lessons, students will be finishing a number of interesting projects that will complete our novel study. 4th graders are continuing to learn more about Science and are presently studying the properties of matter. We recently completed an inquiry activity about density. Students poured corn syrup, dish detergent, colored water, and vegetable oil into a cup and watched liquids form layers. Then we dropped a paper clip, piece of rubber band and Styrofoam into the cup and observed what happened. Based upon their densities, students were able to explore why the layers formed and where the solids landed in the cup. Students have also been discovering the differences between physical and chemical changes. By combining liquid glue, water, food coloring and a borax solution, 4th graders observed a chemical change and studied the differences between the qualities of glue (liquid) and the new substance that was created (a solid). We are excited to participate in another Flat Stanley project this year! 4 th graders will be mailing out their Flat Stanley images to friends and families across the country. Their Stanley s will then return to school with tales of their traveling adventures, sharing news about the geography, cultures, languages, and lifestyles of the places they have visited. Sometimes their Flat Stanley mailings return with fun mementos and souvenirs! PARISHIONER SURVEY Archbishop Cupich wants your input: When Archbishop Cupich announced the Renew My Church initiative in January, he invited everyone in the Archdiocese of Chicago to participate in the process of revitalizing our parish communities. Just as Pope Francis asked Catholics across the globe for their input prior to the Synod of Bishops meetings in 2014 and 2015, Archbishop Cupich is asking for your help as the Archdiocese begins a new listening phase of this important effort. Please take time to respond to a survey designed to help Archbishop Cupich and the Archdiocese better understand the perspectives of Catholics across Cook and Lake Counties. The survey will be available beginning on Easter Sunday at: www.archchicago.org/renew We encourage you to complete the survey online. Paper copies will be available. Page Five HOME MADE PACZKI SALE ON SUNDAY, APRIL 24, made by Sr. Patrycja s own hands!

Nastał czas szczerości serca i bezgranicznej miłości i zaufania. Taka postawa bywa trudnym egzaminem w szkole aniżeli ci chrześcijańskiej mądrości i miłości, w znoszeniu przeciwności i prześladowań wobec imienia Jezusowego. Kochać i słuchać więcej.
