Our Parish School: We are part of an excellent co-sponsored elementary school: All Saints Academy. For information call: Religious Education For Children: CCD classes are held every Sunday from September through April at 9:15 am. Classes are conducted in our school building. Rectory Telephone Numbers: Office: Fax: Confessions: Daily Monday to Saturday following the 7:00 am Mass. Saturday afternoons at 3:30 pm. Sacrament Of The Sick: Sick Calls or other Emergency Calls should be made to the rectory at any time. Arrangements can also be made for regular visitations at home or hospital for Holy Communion and/or Confession. We urge you to keep us aware of parishioners who are ill in the hospital or at home. Marriages: Please make arrangements at least one year in advance. Couples are urged to solemnize their vows at a Nuptial Mass. Baptisms: A required Baptismal Program for Parents is conducted at 1:00 pm on the second Sunday of the month in Polish and on the last Sunday in English. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated each month on the First Sunday (in English) and on the Third Sunday (in Polish.) Novenas: Every Tuesday Evening to Saint Anne following the 7:00 pm Mass. It is the 40th day after the feast of Christmas and official marks the end of the Christmas season. It is the custom of this day to bless the candles and oil stocks that will be used in liturgical celebrations for the coming year. The candles we use for Mass, Benediction, and in the sconces of the church will be blessed. You may donate these candles this weekend or during the week. 5 Feb. 3 is the Feast of St. Blaise. The blessing of throats on St. Blaise s Feast Day has been a long custom in the Church. We will bless throats after all Masses on Feb. 3 invoking the Intercession of St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr, to deliver you from all ailments of the throat and any other illness. AMEN More Great Scouting News! Bayonne Cub Scout Pinewood Derby Feb. 20, 2010 OLMC Parish Center Gym All boys ages 7 to 11 are invited to attend. Cub Scout Pack 19 is hosting Bring-A-Buddy to encourage new boys to learn about the Cub Scout program. The scouts fathers are providing a Pinewood Rent-A-Car for any new boys to take part in the car races. An early preacher, Saint Methodius, reflects instead on her name, noting that, in Greek, Agatha means good, goodness being something we can all strive for, nobly born or common, blessed with beauty or not! So brutal the tortures that violated her youthful innocence, Agatha, like Agnes and several other women martyrs, was honored from time immemorial by having her name inscribed in the Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer I). Recent attention has focused on the particularly cruel torture decreed for Agatha, the cutting off of her breasts. This has inspired cancer survivors to promote Saint Agatha as patron and intercessor for women courageously facing breast cancer, for their families and the multitude of supporters who participate in fundraising marches and races, and, of course, for the dedicated researchers who seek a cure. 6 Dear Parishioners, Each year the Archbishop appeals to all Roman Catholics in the Archdiocese of Newark to generously support the diocesan wide ministries offered directly by our Archdiocese. Catholic Charities conduct 25 sites throughout Essex, Union, Hudson, and Bergen counties. There are special programs for the homeless, immigrants, women and children at risk, and handicapped individuals. There are 3 Seminaries within the diocese that educate priests to serve our parishes. There are agencies such as CYO Youth & Young Adult Ministry, The Archdiocesan Schools Office, Parish Plant Services, and the Legal Department (to mention just a few) which serve the needs of the 226 parishes in our Archdiocese. All these ministries and more, need to be financially supported. This weekend you have received in the bulletin a copy of this year s Archbishop s Annual Appeal brochure. Next weekend you will be given an opportunity to make a pledge to the Archbishop s Annual Appeal during the Second collection. Not every Catholic can give a lot.
