(773) Reflecting on God s Word God s relationship with people is at the heart of both the irst reading and the Gospel, but there is a difference. In Isaiah, destruction comes to the vineyard; in the Gospel, it comes to those entrusted with the care of the vineyard. Isaiah s song highlights the people s failure the house of Israel and the people of Judah to bear fruit, to provide the Lord who has lovingly tended this vineyard with anything more than wild grapes, that is, bloodshed and violence against each other. Because of this, the owner will turn his back on them, no longer giving care but letting it be trampled underfoot, no longer pruning or hoeing, but allowing thorns and briars to take over. This song is demanding conversion. In Jesus parable, the focus is on those entrusted with the care of the vineyard. Jesus addresses the chief priests and the elders in Jerusalem, not only criticizing their failure to care for the people adequately, but also their rejection of those God sent to call them to conversion. The parable calls all religious leaders to remember that authority is for service. Bearing fruit in our lives, being true and honorable, just and pure, lovely and gracious is the fruit God desires from all, as Paul reminds the Philippians. God s people, but especially their leaders, have a responsibility to bear fruit. No one is let off the hook. God expects a return for love so lavishly given. James A. Wallace, C.Ss.R. National 54-Day Rosary Novena or Peace and the Family October is the Month of the Holy Rosary and the Rosary Evangelization Apostolate is launching a National 54-day Rosary Novena for Peace and the Family with a special focus on marriage, human life and religious freedom. Information about the National Rosary Novena can be found at: "FAMILY FEST 2014" Our Pastor Father Waclaw and the entire committee invite all to our "FAMILY FEST 2014" being held on Sunday, October 12th. The day will begin with a 12:30 pm Polka Mass by Dennis Motyka and his Orchestra followed by an afternoon of fun and enjoyment for the entire family. There will be free games and surprises for the children. For the adults enjoyment, Tony Blazonczyk s New Phaze will be performing starting at 2:00 pm. Food and refreshments will be available. Donation is $5.00 per person, with children under 12 admitted free. In connection with "FAMILY FEST", the Parish Super Raf le is being held, with the winners being selected at the "FAMILY FEST". Raf le tickets are available at $10.00 per ticket. Those who buy 5 tickets will receive 3 free tickets; those who buy 10 will receive 6 free tickets, and so on. Starting this weekend, and continuing until the FAMILY FEST", both the Super Raf le tickets and Family Fest tickets will be sold after all the Masses. Jak już wcześniej informowaliśmy, w niedzielę 12 października br. organizujemy w naszej para ii tzw. Family Fest czyli Rodzinny Festyn, którego celem jest wsparcie naszego para ialnego budżetu. Festyn rozpoczniemy tzw. Polka Mass w języku angielskim o godz. 12:30. Po niej przewidujemy poprzez całe popołudnie rozrywki i zabawy dla całej rodziny dorosłych, młodzieży i dzieci. Dla dorosłych będzie przygrywać orkiestra Tony Blazonczyk s New Phaze od godz. 2:00 PM. W tym czasie, w drugiej sali dzieci będą miały swoje gry, zabawy i niespodzianki prowadzone przez naszych katechetów. W czasie całego popołudnia będzie można nabyć ciepły posiłek lub poczęstunek i napoje. Jako wstęp przewidujemy donację 5 dolarów od osób dorosłych, natomiast dzieci poniżej lat 12tu będą miały wstęp wolny. Równocześnie wraz z tym Festynem przewidujemy para ialną loterię. Zapisani para ianie otrzymali pocztą bilety na loterię, w cenie po 10 dolarów. Przy zakupie 5ciu biletów dodatkowe 3 bilety są bezpłatne. Gdyby ktoś potrzebował więcej biletów lub nie jest zapisany w para ii i nie otrzymał ich pocztą, może już dziś u panów marszałków albo w tygodniu w kancelarii para ialnej nabyć wspomniane bilety: dla siebie, krewnych lub przyjaciół. The Church sometimes struggles with how best to be faithful to the image of an all-forgiving God. Once a very public rite with publicly visible participation on the part of the penitent, it became in time a very private matter. By the fourteenth century, when a prayer of absolution and a laying on of hands was still required in sacramental confession, theologians were saying that even that was too much liturgy. All that was required was confession itself, and the sacramental words Ego te absolvo, or I absolve you. In 1614 the Council of Florence tried to lesh out this bare skeleton, requiring that if possible the priest should wear a stole, that the confession should be in church, and that there be questions about the person s state in life, occupation, and last confession. This is the irst time the Church recommended that the penitent and priest be separated by a grill, thereby eliminating the ritual laying on of hands once so central to the sacrament, substituting the priest s raised right hand in blessing. This is the rite that remained in force until the sacrament became the subject of very stormy debates at the Second Vatican Council, leading to a major reform in 1974 that is still only partially received.
