Stewardship Note: No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth). Is money a god that you put before God? Giving money to support the Church and other charity is a pillar of our Faith, just like attending Mass every Sunday and participating in parish ministry. Giving money frees us from being a slave to money and increases our dependence on God and to trust that He will provide all that we need. TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME September 18, 2016 God... wills everyone to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth. - 1 Timothy 2:4 OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS The Second Vatican Council has called us to envision the Church as the people of God. As a community of believers we are responsible for our brothers and sisters, their salvation, their journey of faith, their physical well-being. Many of the documents of Vatican II and volumes of work since the mid -1960s give us advice, guidelines, and encouragement to take care of one another: the poor, the elderly, the unborn, the broken, the infirm. Because Vatican II is part of our recent history indeed many of us were already born this may strike us as a new and revolutionary idea. But today s readings show us the agelessness of the issue of social justice. Eight hundred years before Christ was born, Amos warned the wealthy not to cheat the poor. In Paul s first letter to Timothy, he encourages all prayers to be for all people; and finally, the Gospel urges the wise use of money. The second collection this week is for our CCD Program to offset various expenses for mandatory retreats including our confirmation class. Please be generous. Next weekend s second collection is designated for our Fall Appeal for Catholic Schools. Hospitality Committee - will meet on Sunday, Sept. 18 after 9:30am mass at the rectory. Everyone who is interested in sharing their ideas and suggestions to make our parish a spiritual and vibrant community is asked to attend. PARTNERS IN CHARITY 2016 APPEAL We appreciate the generosity of our parishioners for supporting the 2016 Partners in Charity Appeal. This year we received 205 gifts for a total of $27,214 - which is more than we collected for the 2015 appeal. Thank you to everyone who so graciously remembered those who need and rely on our assistance in the Diocese of Worcester. We are extremely grateful to our Chairpersons, Betty Sabaj and Janet Stoica for their efforts and time in promoting a successful campaign in our parish.

3 Page 3 Jubilee Year of Mercy Mercy is one thing, malpractice quite another. Why, then, does the defrauded master in Jesus parable praise the devious steward? Jesus shows by example how to sanctify material goods: by placing all our resources, indeed our very selves, at the service of others. No matter how costly such service, or how minimal the return, such charity is the wisest investment, yielding a reward that is literally out of this world. For Amos and Jesus, authentic worship of God demands practical charity toward our neighbor. Paul, too, declares that the only worship acceptable to God is offered by a community rich in charity. Liturgy must be matched to life, lifting up holy hands, without anger or argument. Annual Catholic School Fall Appeal - is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 24 & 25. Across the country, Catholic Education is on the rise including St. Joseph School. SCHOOL NEWS On Sun., Sept. 11th 2016, students from SJS and their families participated in the first Family Mass of the academic school year and the Annual 9/11 Remembrance Mass. We joined together to honor the memory of those who were lost, as well as rekindle the spirit of unity and compassion that swept our nation after 9/11. In addition, teachers took the Oath of Fidelity by which they vowed to adhere to Church teachings and form the minds of the students according to the sound Doctrine of the Church. The day culminated at Webster Lake for the school s Annual Back to School Picnic to the delight of the parents and especially the children. DEVOTION AND NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH Each Wednesday, we come together as a community to ask for needed graces through the intercession of St. Joseph. As he is the Patron of the Universal Church, we ask him to provide assistance for a montage of our needs. We ask parishioners and friends to join us on Wed., Sept. 21st together with our Eucharistic Ministers to pray to our Patron. KRONIKA PARAFIALNA DWUDZIESTA PIĄTA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA 18 września 2016 Bóg pragnie, by wszyscy ludzie zostali zbawieni i doszli do poznania prawdy. (1Tym 2, 4) Nasza wiara, aby była autentyczna, musi sięgać konkretów codziennego życia. Dzisiaj Pan Bóg pyta nas o nasze odniesienie do ludzi i o dysponowanie dobrami materialnymi. Oszustwo, wyzysk, chciwość nie pozostaną bez konsekwencji. I do nas skierowane są słowa: Zdaj sprawę z twego zarządu. Póki mamy czas, możemy sobie zjednywać bliźnich. Tylko okazując miłosierdzie ludziom, możemy liczyć, że i Bóg nam je okaże. PERTNERS IN CHARITY Serdecznie dziękujemy wszystkim parafianom, którzy w tym roku złożyli swoje ofiary na Partners in Charity. W tym roku otrzymaliśmy 205 ofiar na łączną sumę $ Bóg Zapłać! 5 Page 5 JUBILEUSZOWY ROK MIŁOSIERDZIA Miłosierdzie to jedno, a nadużycie zupełnie cos innego. Dlaczego więc oszukanych pan z przypowieści Jezusa pochwala przebiegłego zarządcę? Jezus pokazuje na przykładzie, jak uświęcić dobra materialne: korzystając z wszystkiego co posiadamy, jak również i samych siebie, w służbie innym. Nieważne, jak kosztowne jest takie posługiwanie, czy jak minimalną korzyść możemy z niego otrzymać, i tak miłosierdzie jest najmądrzejszą inwestycją, która w konsekwencji przynosi nagrodę, która jest dosłownie nie z tego świata. Dla proroka Amosa i Jezusa, autentyczne uwielbienie Boga wymaga skutecznego miłosierdzia wobec bliźniego. Paweł też oświadcza, że Bóg akceptuje uwielbienie tylko od wspólnoty bogatej w miłosierdzie. Liturgia musi być odzwierciedlać życie podnosząc ręce czyste, bez gniewu i sporu. Jubileuszowy Rok Miłosierdzia stawia przed nami wyzwanie, byśmy żyli jak dzieci światłości, w ofiarnej służbie, tak jak synowie tego świata są skorzy do służenia sobie nawzajem, tak samo entuzjastycznie powinniśmy służyć Bożemu Królestwu sprawiedliwości. DOROCZNA JESIENNA ZBIÓRKA NA SZKOŁY KATOLICKIE Doroczna Jesienna Zbiórka na Szkoły Katolickie została zaplanowana na 24 i 25 września. W całym kraju edukacja katolicka nabiera coraz większego znaczenia. Wzrasta również liczba osób pragnących kształcić swoje dzieci w katolickich szkołach. Dotyczy to również Szkoły św. Józefa. Młodzi ludzie potrzebują trwałych wartości, aby mogli na ich podstawie formować swoje umysły i serca. Wraz ze wzrostem ilości uczniów zwiększają się również wydatki związane z ich nauczaniem, dlatego liczymy na hojne wsparcie parafian. Do złożenia ofiary prosimy użyć specjalnych kopert znajdujących się we wrześniowych pakietach. Kolektę będą zbierali uczniowie naszej szkoły. WIADOMOŚCI SZKOLNE W niedzielę, 11 września uczniowie naszej szkoły i ich rodziny uczestniczyli w pierwszej w tym roku Mszy Rodzinnej. W czasie liturgii uczczono również pamięć tych, którzy stracili życie w atakach z 11 września. Ponadto, nauczyciele i pracownicy szkoły złożyli przyrzeczenie wierności obiecując przestrzegać zasad religijnych oraz angażować swoją wolę i intelekt w nauczaniu zgodnie z doktryną Kościoła Katolickiego i przekazywać uczniom Jego nauczanie. Po południu uczniowie wraz z rodzinami zgromadzili się na rodzinnym pikniku na plaży nad Jeziorem. NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA Jak w każdą środę, również i w tym tygodniu spotykamy się we wspólnocie, aby prosić o potrzebne łaski za wstawiennictwem św. Józefa. Jako Patrona Kościoła Powszechnego, możemy poprosić Go, aby wspomagał nas w naszych potrzebach. Zapraszamy do wspólnej modlitwy w środę, 21 września razem z Szafarzami Eucharystii, którzy tego dnia będą nieśli figurę św. Józefa w procesji na rozpoczęcie nabożeństwa. Swoje intencje modlitewne prosimy zapisywać na formularzach dostępnych w kaplicy Matki Bożej, Dziękujemy za złożone ofiary.
