Those relics (bones) normally kept beneath the high altar of the basilica will be brought out for public veneration as part of the conclusion of the Year of Faith celebrated throughout the world. As you are all aware here at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus we possess numerous first class relics of many saints some above the main altar, some above the tabernacle on the altar of the passion, and, the most famous, the relic of St. Stanislaus given to us in 1969 by Blessed John Paul II. These physical remnants of the bodies of saints are venerated in many faiths and cultures, the presence of the deceased holy men and women felt stronger than through an image or otherwise. Our cemeteries are full of first class relics of all our deceased family members and loved ones. I know it might surprise many to hear this, but it is the truth. The remains of all our deceased loved ones really are relics to be honored and venerated the reason we bury them in sacred consecrated ground, bedeck their graves with flowers, keep them tidy and weed free, visit with them and spend time there asking for their intercession. We pray for them and to them as potential helpers for all of us still in this world. Many people end up buried in cemeteries long before they thought they ever would. For those of us left behind at this point, not many ever visit the deceased at their place of internment many simply find it difficult. My mother and I used to grave hop at least once a year, usually on Mothers Day, to visit all the deceased relatives and neighbors and friends. We d visit each grave and talk about the deceased, in most cases sharing stories about something in their lives. Each visit ended with a short prayer after the usual grass edging. It doesn t take long to notice that most of the gravestones are totally abandoned by the living. Most of them are just covered in weeds and grass and duck droppings. These are possibly forgotten, or without any living relatives or friends. Sort of sad. I remember when in Krakow seeing how many people would be at the cemetery, especially on the night of All Souls. There were hundreds of people, even at midnight, walking amidst the family graves and thousands of flickering candles, honoring and remembering the deceased. Some graves (usually some very famous artists or military figures) had so many candles and flowers over them that one just knew they were not forgotten. Others had nothing. Just the way it is. Someday we ll all be six feet under. Someday (unless we become really famous or are canonized) our graves will be covered in weeds as well. It s only a matter of time before we ll be forgotten by everyone living right now. But to those of us who are still living we still have the chance to show our faith, to honor the dead, to show respect for their remains, even if nobody else does. We still have the opportunity to go to the place of these first class relics and beg for their help, their intercession, their love.even their forgiveness. I always imagine the deceased are very understanding...and they know what is in our hearts as well as in our past. I do believe they can help influence our future as well, by interceding on our behalf to God. They will continue to work for us and never ever ever get tired. That s the beauty of eternal rest! They are there to help us if we ask. Eternal rest grant unto all our faithful departed.and let perpetual light shine upon them. David Krakowski

WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW???? While we all desire to spend some time in fruitful prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament, sometimes we don t know where to start. All God wants us to do is to spend time with Him, opening our hearts and minds to Him. Here are a few suggestions to help you get started.: Slowly read Sacred Scripture until something hits you...then listen Say the Rosary. Consider that the Sacred Body of Jesus came from the womb of His Mother. Thank Her! Tell Jesus something that recently made you happy..or sad..and listen. Pray for those who have hurt you. Talk to Him about your family or friends or work...then listen. See Him on the Cross...and place yourself aside His Mother. Pray to St. Joseph for a happy death. Tell Him your problems and ask for His help. Listen. Think of how much money you will stop squandering but, instead, share with the poor from now on. Pray that you might grow in love for the Cross. Ask Him Lord, what do You want me to do?? Pray for vocations, especially from our very own parish. Pray for our Holy Father Francis, all the Bishops and priests and deacons and religious. Pray for all the nuns who taught you in school. Ask Jesus if He will help you carry your cross. Enjoy sitting there talking with your best friend. Read some inspiring writings of the saints or doctors of the Church or popes. Pray the Liturgy of the Hours. Pray your favorite childhood devotion and see if you can re-kindle your simpler faith. Look at the people praying with you and see the face of Jesus in each one. Try to remember the first time you felt the love of Jesus. Look directly at the Blessed Sacrament and let Him look directly into your heart. Kneel and remember that your He is your best friend. Smile, cry..know that Jesus is full of mercy and love, no matter what secrets your past might hold. A SUCCESSFUL REVERSE RAFFLE Many thanks go out to Denise Siemborski and her entire team of helpers who donated their time and talents to make the Fr. William Reverse Raffle a profitable event. The funds raised go to our major ministry here at St. Stanislaus, our school. Thanks go out to everyone who contributed to and shared in a most enjoyable evening! Parishioners asked to help Philippine Typhoon Victims Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon, in response to a request from Catholic Relief Services, is asking the 185 parishes of the Diocese to offer a special, second collection the weekend of November 30 - December 1, 2013. The funds will be sent to Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic Community in the United States. The funds will benefit the Philippine people who are victims of super typhoon Haiyan. With wind speeds of 195 mph, it is now recorded as the strongest tropical cyclone on record time to have made landfall. An estimated 9.5 million people are suffering from the destruction. Donors are advised to make checks payable to their individual parish (memo - Typhoon Relief). The parishes are then being asked to submit a totaled single check to the Diocese Finance Office made payable to "Diocese of Cleveland." Catholic Relief Services responds to massive destruction of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines - U.S. Bishops call for National Collection to Aid Victims Super Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines on November 8, 2013 striking Guiuan, Eastern Samar Island, with wind speeds of 195 mph, making it the strongest tropical cyclone on record to have made landfall anywhere in the world. Thousands have died and an estimated 9.5 million people are suffering from destruction on par with that seen after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The needs are immense shelter, food, water, sanitation, and medicine. When I was hungry you gave me to eat
Wiara to przekroczenie wymiaru fizycznego, cielesnego, materialnego człowieka. Człowiek jest wielki, bo stworzył go Bóg, by trwał wiecznie. To spowiedź sakramentalna. Ceńmy sobie mocno łaskę i dar spowiedzi, ona nas przygotowuje do przyszłego zmartwychwstania. Jezus przychodzi, by nas wewnętrznie odnowić i dać nam nadzieję. Miłość nas przygotuje do bycia z Chrystusem w wieczności. I my jesteśmy posłani, posłani na ten świat, by kochać, by powoli, ale konsekwentnie przemieniać go przez miłość. Eucharystia spotkanie z Miłością, która podtrzymuje nadzieję i wiarę. Eucharystia siła i posłanie. Eucharystia odnowa naszego myślenia i spotkanie z Panem, który zanim przyjdzie powtórnie przemienić i odnowić świat, najpierw mocą świętego chleba przemienia i odnawia swoich uczniów i do świata posyła! autor: ks.
