PAGE TWO Pentecost & Ministry Fair - Today we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. We, too, receive the Holy Spirit and need the Holy Spirit to know how to lead our lives. The Evangelization Committee has worked very hard in putting together our Parish Ministry Fair. I hope that you will take the time to stop over the school to talk with some of your fellow parishioners and learn how you, too, can share the gifts and talents the Holy Spirit has given you with our parish community as well as the larger local community. There will be complimentary refreshments at the Ministry Fair. There will also be free door prizes for both days. The Holy Name Society is hosting a Ham and Bean Supper on Saturday and the San Damiano Youth Group has a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday. However, you do not have to buy a ticket to either of those events to attend the Ministry Fair. See page 9 of this bulletin for more information. Let us be open to the workings of the Holy Spirit in our lives for our own good and of the world around us. Come Holy Spirit!!! Friar Chris Dudek Installed as an Acolyte - On Tuesday, May 15th, the Minister General of the Conventual Franciscan Friars, Fr. Marco Tasca, OFM Conv. installed our own Friar Chris Dudek, OFM Conv. as an Acolyte at the seminary where Friar Chris is studying in Rome. So what does that mean? You are likely familiar that before a man is ordained to the priesthood he must be ordained a deacon first. It is the final step along the way to becoming a priest. But, prior to being ordained a deacon there are two other steps, that of Lector and Acolyte. Before Vatican II these were called Minor Orders and there were two more. Now they are called Minor Ministries. We see these ministries also exercised by the laity in the absence of those formally installed in these ministries. Friar Chris was installed as a Lector last year and has now been installed as an Acolyte. "The acolyte is instituted to serve at the altar and to assist the priest and deacon. In particular, it is his responsibility to prepare the altar and the sacred vessels and, if it is necessary, as an extraordinary minister, to distribute the Eucharist to the faithful. By being installed as an Acolyte, Friar Chris is another step closer to being ordained a priest. Please continue to pray for Friar Chris and all of the Friars currently in formation. Two of our men, Fr. Nicholas Spano and Fr. Nader Ata, were ordained priests last Saturday, May 27 in Syracuse, NY. Your support of the 2 nd collection this weekend for our Franciscan Seminarians helps the Our Lady of Angels Province provide for their educational costs. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Annual Gifts - Thank you to the many parishioners who responded very quickly with their Annual Gift, formerly known as Parish Dues, to the Parish. Thanks also to all of those who have given more than the traditional $50 or $100. These Annual Gifts are a major source of support, totaling just over 10% of our ordinary income. For those who have not yet submitted their donations a reminder that our fiscal year ends on June 30 th so please send your annual gifts by June 30 as these gifts are needed to keep us in the black for the end of the year. Thank you very much!! ELMS care van Bro. Michael Duffy recently shared with me the plight of the Elms College Care Van. He wrote the following: Since 2012 you have seen the 1988 camper/elms care van sitting on the parking lot. At her last check-up it was determined that the upkeep cost is now exceeding the budget and a replacement option has been secured. Soon you will see the new care van in the parking lot. Needless to say this has been a significant investment, and we hope that we can get a good 10 12 years out of this version. It costs approximately $475 per month to provide services to the homeless and under-served of Chicopee. Retro fitting of the camper will be an ongoing process: paint job, generator, etc, etc. Your support and assistance is greatly appreciated. In advance THANK YOU! So as to help Bro. Michael we will direct all donations to the Poor Boxes during the month of June to help with the retrofitting of the replacement for the old Care Van. Anything you place in the Poor Boxes, including loose change, will help the cause. Thanks! Corpus Christi Procession - We will celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi (The Body of Christ) on Thursday, June 15th, with all day adoration of the Blessed Sacrament beginning after the 8:45 a.m. Mass in the Lower Basilica. At 7:00 p.m. we will gather in the Upper Basilica for prayer and then go in procession to the four outdoor altars, weather permitting. If the weather does not cooperate we will stay inside. We hope that many of our First Communicants will come dressed in their First Communion attire. Graduations - The 8th graders will graduate at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6th, in the Upper Basilica and the Kindergartners the following evening, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the school gym. Say a little prayer for all of them! Final Thoughts - Let us not forget our dad's, living and deceased. It is not too late to remember them in the Novena of Masses that begins on Father's Day, June 18. I was happy to see both the women and men Maryland Lacrosse teams win Championships. The Orioles on the other hand, have been in a nose dive. Hope to see you at the Ministry Fair! Have a wonderful and blessed week. - Fr. Joe

B I U L E T Y N Parafialny - 4 czerwiec 2017 Niedziela Zesłania Ducha Świętego Marek Skwarnicki wspomina, jak w wigilię Zesłania Ducha Świętego Jan Paweł II powiedział do kilkuset tysięcy młodych ludzi, że Plac Świętego Piotra jest Wieczernikiem i na wszystkich zostaje w tej chwili zesłany Duch Święty.Wtedy pierwszy raz w życiu odczuł Jego obecność. Duch Święty obdarza każdego odpowiednimi darami (zob. 1 Kor 12, 4-11). Dz 2, 1-12). Zachęcamy Was do skorzystania z tego czasu i zaproszenie obrazu M.B. Częstochowskiej do Waszych domów. Możemy tego dokonać w biurze parafialnym dzwoniąc i rezerwując czas u Pani Władysławy Leś naszej sekretarki parafialnej. O W każdą niedzielę, 15 min. przed Mszą św. w języku polskim o godz. 8:00 am.
