This outreach culminated in sending his son, Jesus Christ, the word made flesh. God s communication directed to us seeks to draw us into connection and communion with God s very own life. God has entrusted his word to the Church. This word finds privileged expression in the Sacred Scriptures, the Bible. The word of God, however, is not bound to a book. The Church holds, treasures, and proclaims God s word. And in the sacraments, the Church celebrates Jesus, the word made flesh, and the mysteries of his life, death, and resurrection all of which are made real and present to us through the sacraments. Ewangelizacja- Bóg komunikuje się z nami poprzez Słowo i Sakrament P oprzez całą historię ludzkości Bóg wychodził ludziom naprzeciw, aby połączyć się z tymi, których stworzył na swój obraz i podobieństwo. To wyciąganie ku nam Bożej ręki osiągnęło swój szczyt w posłaniu swojego syna Jezusa Chrystusa, Słowa, które stało się Ciałem. Boże komunikowanie się z nami ma na celu przybliżenie nas do Niego i pozostanie w komunii z Nim. Bóg powierzył swoje słowo Kościołowi. Słowo to jest najjaśniej wyrażone poprzez słowa Pisma Świętego. Jednakże Boże słowo nie jest ograniczone do słowa spisanego w księdze. Kościół zawiera w sobie wielkie bogactwo i przekazuje je przez głoszenie słowa Bożego. I tak w sakramentach Kościół celebruje Jezusa, Słowo staje się Ciałem, a tajemnice Jego życia, śmierci i zmartwychwstania są realnie i prawdziwie nam dostępne właśnie przez sakramenty. TYDZIEŃ TROSKI O POWOŁANIA Ubiegła Niedziela Chrztu Pańskiego zainaugurowała w USA Krajowy Tydzień Troski o Powoł ania. Obchodzony jest on od 1976 r. z inicjatywy tutejszego episkopatu, promując wśród wiernych kapłaństwo i życie konsekrowane. Tydzień powołaniowy obejmuje szereg inicjatyw, zarówno modlitewnych jak informacyjnych i edukacyjnych. Chodzi m.in. o uświadomienie rodzinom współodpowiedzialności za urzędową posługę Kościoła i otwieranie ich na perspektywę rodzenia się powołań do kapłaństwa, diakonatu, czy życia zakonnego. Z drugiej strony amerykański Kościół stara się dotrzeć do młodych ludzi, którzy w dzisiejszych czasach rzadko stawiają sobie pytanie o własne powołanie, nawet jeśli sami określają się jako wierzący. Kiedy gromadzimy się razem w niedzielę, jako kościół Boży, aby celebrować Eucharystię, słyszymy proklamację słowa Bożego. Wtedy Bóg prawdziwie do nas przemawia i łączy się z nami. Dzieje się to jeszcze pełniej, w samym momencie przemiany eucharystycznej. Wtedy to Pańska śmierć i zmartwychwstanie jest uobecniona pośród nas poprzez sakramentalne znaki. Wtedy właśnie jesteśmy w stanie być zjednoczeni z naszym Panem, który przez Swoją śmierć zniszczył naszą śmierć a przez Swoje zmartwychwstanie odnowił nasze życie. Bóg nieustannie wychodzi nam naprzeciw, by swoją miłosierną miłością objąć całą ludzkość, i aby w ten sposób, wzajemnie łącząc się, ustanowić stałą komunię życia z nami. W słowach, które słyszymy w kościele i w celebrowanych sakramentach Bóg niejako nas dotyka. W dzisiejszej Ewangelii słyszymy słowa Jana Chrzciciela, które opisują wydarzenie Jezusowego Chrztu. Jan ogłasza wszystkim, że Jezus jest Synem Boga. W konsekwencji, jeśli w swoim własnym życiu doświadczyłeś Bożej obecności, podziel się tą Dobrą Nowinę ze wszystkimi, którzy będą ciebie słuchać. January 16, 2011 Second Ordinary Sunday Page Thirteen ON ZEN-LIKE APPROACHES, SONGS IN-PROGRESS, AND TRUSTING GOD Copyright 2011 by John B. Reynolds (john@jrwrites.com) I saw a preview over the holiday break for the soon-to-bereleased Matt Damon film, The Adjustment Bureau. The plot line has the Damon character falling for a woman but the relationship is being thwarted by a bunch of guys in suits who apparently fulfill the title role. Seems there is a master plan for everybody in the universe, and since Damon s pursuit of his love interest isn t part of the plan, the Adjustment Bureau means to keep the two apart. It s an interesting concept, speaking to the notions of predestination and fate and the choices we make in our lives. As in, are they really choices? Or just the realization of what has already been decided? I take a Zen-like approach to it all, at least as I understand such things. I believe that choices are our own to make, for such is the nature of the free will with which we ve been graced. But I also believe that God s in charge (though, admittedly, I wonder at times ) and that at each point in our lives, we are precisely where we are meant to be. I look back at events in my own life that seemed devastating at the time--being fired from my first job weeks out of school for lacking a corporate personality ; Mom s sudden, unexpected death; my father s falling and breaking his hip while under my care here at home--and with perspective, I see that from each circumstance, blessings sprang. I m still taking guitar classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music, and I ve really gotten into songwriting recently (a poet with a few chords is a dangerous thing). The lyrics begin by telling of some of my early dreams and how they have fallen away, but how this is not a bad thing. I m still working on the chorus, but currently it goes like this: Now all these years later I m singing a song/ Hoping Steve Goodman is singing along/ Life keeps on rolling and we keep on strolling/ And somehow it s where we belong. All of today s Scripture passages speak to me of this notion as well. In Isaiah s Servant of the Lord oracle, God s plan for the servant goes far beyond the restoration of Israel: I will make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth. Surely God has big plans for us all. The Apostle Paul says that if we but trust God in our lives, we will find divine grace and peace. And per the Baptizer s testimony to Jesus, I did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be made known to Israel. I believe we all play a role in bringing the Kingdom home, though we may not be cognizant of it even as we are carrying it out. I ll probably go see The Adjustment Bureau because I m a Matt Damon fan, but I ll view it through the lens of discipleship. And when I nail down the chorus for the song I m working on, it will make the song the exact song it s supposed to be. Trust me. Or better yet--and in all things--trust God.
