St. Bruno Church Thirty - Second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 6, 2011 Prayer for our Veterans Dear Heavenly Father, In every age, You call certain persons to defend the human family from oppression, tyranny, and evil. Since our founding as a nation "conceived in liberty," countless American men and women have stepped forward to defend our country and many others from aggressors, and to liberate those held captive. Today we revere all our veterans: those who rest in honored glory, those who still suffer from the wounds of war, and those who, with us, enjoy the blessing of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave. O God, thank You for the selfless sacrifice of these veterans and of their families. Help us to remember them, to pray for them, and to care for them. Please bring all our departed veterans into Your Kingdom, and console their families with Your unfailing love. Please heal our wounded veterans through the power of Your Holy Spirit, and give to all our veterans the satisfaction of having served You even as they have served us. Thank You for Your gifts of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. May we fight to keep these rights available to all. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. From the Pastor s Desk The Revised Translation of the Mass (Part III)... What is the significance of the changes to the Nicene Creed? Some of the most significant changes to the people's parts in the Order of Mass are found in the Profession of Faith (the Nicene Creed). Changes to this text fall into two categories: preservation of the syntax of the original text and preservation of expressions of faith which contain Catholic doctrine. The first change is the translation of Credo as of "I" instead of "We" in the opening phrase in order to maintain the person and number indicated in the Latin text. While the profession of faith is a communal liturgical act, each individual in the liturgical assembly professes his or her own faith which is joined to the profession of the whole assembly. The second change concerns the translation of particular expressions of faith such as Unigenitus, consubstantialis, and incarnatus. The theological terminology has been preserved, in accord with Liturgiam Authenticam, in the translation to English: "Only Begotten," "consubstantial," and "incarnate." "And with your spirit"? One of the more noticeable changes in the people's parts of the Mass is the response to the greeting, "The Lord be with you." The Latin response, et cum spiritu tuo, is rendered literally in English, "and with your spirit." Liturgiam Authenticam calls for the faithful rendering of expressions that belong to the heritage of the ancient Church, and cites et cum spiritu tuo as an example. Most modern languages have translated this phrase literally, so the English text now more closely parallels other vernacular translations. Fr. Można chodzić co niedzielę na Mszę św., zewnętrznie być w porządku wobec Boga i rodziny, a w rzeczywistości mieć serce zamknięte i pozostawać wewnętrznie pustym, bo dalekim od tego, co wyznaje się ustami. Starajmy się, by to, co inni widzą w naszym życiu, miało odbicie w naszym sercu. Ks. San Pablo aclara que los que vivan no tendran ventaja sobre los que han fallecido. Reflections from Fr. Emil... THE CHURCH - BODY OF CHRIST From the beginning, Jesus associated his disciples with his own life, revealed the mystery of the Kingdom to them, and gave them a share in his mission, joy and sufferings. Jesus spoke of a still more intimate communion between him and those who would follow him;"abide in me, and I am the vine you are the branches". Jn 15,4 And he proclaimed a mysterious and real communion between his own body and ours. "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him" Jn 6, 56 When his visible presence was taken from them, Jesus did not leave his disciples orphans. He promised to remain with them until the end of time, he sent them his Spirit. As a result communion with Jesus has become, in a way, more intense; "By communicating his Spirit, Christ mystically constitutes as his body those brothers of his who are called together from every nation" LG 7 The comparison of the Church with the body casts light on the intimate bond between Christ and his Church. Not only is she gathered around him, she is united in him, in his body. Three aspects of the Church as the Body of Christ are to be more specifically noted; the unity of all her members with each other as a result of their union with Christ, Christ as head of the Body; and the Church as bride of Christ. Porównanie Kościoła do ciała wyjaśnia wewnętrzną więż między Kościołem i Chrystusem. Kościół nie jest tylko jakimś zgromadzeniem wokół Chrystusa, lecz jest on zjednoczony w Nim, w Jego Ciele. Należy szczególnie podkreślić trzy aspekty Kościoła jako Ciało Chrystusa; jedność wszystkich członków między sobą dzięki ich zjednoczeniu z Chrystusem; Chrystus jako Głowa Ciała; Kosciół jako Oblubienica Chrystusa. En este sentido, Cristo es El mismo el Misterio de la salvacion. La obra salvacion de su humanidad santa y sanctificante es el sacramento de la salvacion que se manifiesta y actua en los sacramentos de la Iglesia que las Iglesias de Oriente llaman tambien los santos Misterios. La Iglesia es en Cristo como un sacramento o signo e instrumento de la union intima con Dios y de la unidad de todo el genero humano; Ser el Sacramento de la union intima de los hombres con Dios es el primer fin de la Iglesia. Como la comunion de los hombres radica en la union con Dios, la Iglesia es tambien el sacramento de la unidad del genero humano. Esta unidad ya esta comenzada en ella porque reune hombres de toda nacion, raza, pueblo y lengua, al mismo tiempo, la Iglesia es signo e instrumento de la plena realizacion de esta unidad que aun esta por venir. Como sacramento, la Iglesia es instrumento de Cristo. Ella es asumido por Cristo como instrumento de redencion universal, sacramento universal de salvacion, por medio del cual Cristo manifiesta y realiza al mismo tiempo el misterio del amor de Dios al hombre. Recently, the First Graders were busy learning about animals. During the animal unit they participated in several projects. The students prepared a Show and Tell about an animal they selected, visited Brookfield Zoo and attended the class Animals that Fly, explored the zoo where they observed some interesting animal exhibits. One of the most popular animals we studied was the bat. The students were very interested in this often-misunderstood animal. The students made bats and transformed our classroom into a bat cave. In a cooperative learning venture, the 5th grade students helped the 1st grade students learn interesting facts about the bat. They used internet sites and read books. Now the first graders are animal experts. Diane Jagielnik, First Grade Teacher Ostatnio pierwsze klasy były bardzo zajęte ucząc się o zwierzątkach. Ucząc się tego uczestniczyli w różnych projektach. Uczniowie przygotowali pokaz dotyczący zwierzątek, przy tym zwiedzali ZOO Brookfield i uczestniczyli w pokazach pod tytułem "Zwierzątka, które fruwają". Jednym z najbardziej popularnych zwierzątek, które studiowaliśmy był nietoperz. Uczniowie byli bardzo zainteresowani w poznawaniu tajemnic tych zwierzątek. Uczniowie zrobili nietoperze i przerobili naszą klasę w pieczarę nietoperzy. Klasy piąte pomagały uczniom pierwszych klas poznawać tajemnice życia nietoperzy,. Używali oni internetu i książek, aby poznawać więcej spraw dotyczących nietoperzy. Teraz pierwsze klasy są ekspertami w dziedzinie życia nietoperzy i innych zwierzątek. En la unidad de los animales participaron en varios proyectos. Los estudiantes prepararon un dime y te diré acerca de un animal que seleccionaron, visitaron el zoológico de Brookfield y asistieron a la clase "animales que vuelan", exploraron el zoológico donde observaron algunas exhibiciones de animales interesantes. Uno de los animales más populares que estudiamos fue el murcielago. Los estudiantes se mostraron muy interesados en este animal a menudo mal entendido.
