Keywords: rock mass, calculation model, subsidence basin Odwzorowanie procesu deformacji powierzchni terenu górniczego spowodowanych prowadzoną eksploatacją górniczą na drodze modelowania numerycznego, jest procesem bardzo skomplikowanym. Praktycznym celem przeprowadzonych obliczeń numerycznych będzie zatem określenie zależności pomiędzy parametrami odkształceniowymi modelu transwersalnie izotropowego w taki sposób, by możliwe było wykorzystanie tych zależności do prawidłowego opisu niecki obniżeniowej. W związku z powyższym podjęto próbę stabelaryzowania wartości parametru tgβ i odpowiadających mu parametrów odkształceniowych modelu. Parametr tgβ wyznaczano w oparciu o maksymalne nachylenia i obniżenia profilu niecki obniżeniowej. Introduction Representation of deformation process of the surface of a mining area resulting from mining working through numerical modelling is a very complicated process (Majcherczyk et al., 2008). The calculation results indicate that solution accuracy depends mainly on the accepted mathematical model. The authors have established, after many years of work, that if rock mass is perceived as an isotropic medium the calculated maximum gradients were even several times smaller than the observed ones (Wesołowski, 2001). Transversally isotropic medium turned out to be the simplest medium providing subsidence description of good quality and quantity. This medium exemplifies a particular case of an orthotropic model (Białek et al., 2001, 2002). Therefore, the article characterises the relation of the deformation G xy /G xz parameters ratio of such medium in order to achieve various gradients of the subsidence basin profile. FLAC finite difference code was employed in the process of numeric calculations. 2. Numerical model To establish the influence of deformation parameters on the deformation process of the surface of a mining area a numerical calculation model was developed; it is in a form of a flat plate measuring 3000 m horizontally and 1803 m vertically. A layer imitating 3 m thick seam
777 for mining working was reflected in the actual model. Considering various mining depths it was established that the mining depth will change every 100 m in the range from 400 m to 1200 m. The floor and roof of the deposit was represented as homogenous layers equivalent to Carboniferous rock mass and overburden layers. To run computer stimulation the model plate was divided into two parts. The right side of the plate constitutes the working area region in a model seam. This part of the model is 1500 m wide. In the other (left) part of the model no further mining working is anticipated. The outline of the calculation model is presented in fig. 2.1. 1803 m H 1500 m 3000 m Fig. 2.1. Outline of a numerical calculation model. The hatched field indicates a chosen part of the seam Most rocks hold anisotropic property which means they demonstrate various physical and mechanical properties depending on the testing direction. Therefore, with regard to mathematics the roof layer was described through elastic medium, transversally isotropic (Cała & Tajduś, 2001). In the case of seam and the floor layer an isotropic elastic model was used. Very high deformation parameters were assumed for both the seam as well as the floor layer. The assumed values of factors of a figural G and volumetric K for these layers are respectively 227 [GPa] and 208 [GPa]. Such assumption allows establishing the manner of deformation of a roof layer on a so called rigid flat. By way of preliminary numerical calculations it was established that employing FLAC finite difference code and the assumed transversally isotropic medium gives an opportunity to describe any gradient of the subsidence basin profile, depending on the assumed value of the figural elasticity module G xz for a perpendicular direction to isotropy planes. The value of the deformation constant will be established on the basis of numerical calculation results. The values of the remaining deformation parameters permanently contributed to all considered calculation versions are presented in table no. 2.1.

Due to negligibly small influence of the lining on surface area deformation, the work area of the wall or the lining of the wall excavation have not been considered in numeric modelling process. The simulated seam exploitation amounted to removal of net elements present in the area of post-mining abandoned workings. At the same time contact components (splitting plane) were introduced between the roof layer and floor layer. Assumption of such components allowed simulation of free settlement of deformable joist on rigid flat over a chosen area. To run numeric calculation the model plate was split with a net of rectangular elements measuring 25 m 25 m (seam floor and roof) and 25 m 3 m (seam and abandoned workings). Component net was built with an assumption that node points on vertical side edges of the plate may move freely vertically while horizontally their movement is equal zero. The nodes on plate model base may move freely horizontally. Vertical value of these points movements was established as zero. The other node points integral to the plate model as well as to the surface structure model are able to move freely in any direction of X-Z plane. During the specification of boundary conditions it was assumed that the value of primary stress in the rock mass derives from gravitational forces (Filcek et al., 1994). In the case of a tectonically undisturbed rock mass such assumption is a sufficient condition to establish the initial conditions of a simulated exploitation (Wesołowski, 2001). 3. Calculation results Simulation of the influence of mining working on the area surface was carried out on basis of the numerical model presented above. Once the internal forces of the model stabilised and the so called zero model was created, the simulation of seam excavation in the right part of the model was started. Due to the elastic characteristics of the medium, a change of seam parameters into abandoned working parameters could be performed in one calculation cycle. As mentioned
779 earlier, the initial numerical calculations demonstrated that changing the value of the modulus figural deformation module G xz there is a possibility of description of any gradient of subsidence basin profile. Therefore, we attempted registering the value of tgβ parameter in a table along with the corresponding deformational parameters of the model. The tgβ parameter was established on basis of maximum gradients and lowering of subsidence basin profile (Zych et al., 1993): Tmax tg h (3.1.) W where: β angle of a range of main influence on area surface, T max maximum gradient of subsidence basin profile, h depth of exploitation, W max maximum value of subsidence basin profile lowering. According to the carried out numerical calculations there is a possibility of a description of a wide range of gradients of the profile of a subsidence basin model, including the values observed in situ. Changing the value of the modulus of figural deformation G xz in a perpendicular direction to the isotropy planes in the range of about 4350 up to about 66 there is a possibility of achieving a profile of a subsidence basin with a tgβ parameter value changing in a range from 0,8 up to 4. Achieving gradients with a value of 4 W max /h (which is for tgβ = 4) requires an introduction of value of modulus G xz about 65 smaller than the value of a modulus established for isotropy planes G xy. Such dependence was achieved for the smaller assumed working depth of 400 m. In the case of bigger working depths such small values of G xz module are not required to achieve the tgβ = 4 parameter. For example for a 1200 m working depth tgβ = 4 was achieved for modulus of figural deformation G xz about 25 times smaller than the value of a modulus established for G xy isotropy planes. The character of the changes of shape deformation modulus perpendicularly to G xz isotropy planes in relation to a modulus of shape deformations established for G xy isotropy planes in the considered range of tgβ parameter is presented in figure no. 3.1. As the presented graph shows, a change of G xz module in the analysed range of gradients described by tgβ parameter is not proportional but is of an exponential character. The biggest changes of the ratio of modulus of figural elasticity G xy /G xz in the analysed range within the tgβ parameter was registered for small working depths. Along with the increase of the working depth the change of the G xy /G xz relation is significantly smaller. Fig. 3.2 shows examples of subsidence basins established for the depth of 600 m. max

781 4. Review and conclusions The practical goal of the carried out numeric calculations was establishing a relation between the deformation parameters of transversally isotropic model in a way enabling the use of such relations for appropriate description of a subsidence basin. On basis of achieved results of a model testing of changes of the relation of modulus of figural deformation G xy /G xz for a changing tgβ parameter and simulated change of working depth the following may be stated: 1. Employing the FLAC finite difference code and assuming a model of a transversally isotropic medium there is a possibility of a description of a wide range of gradients of a model subsidence basin profile. The gradients were reflected through the commonly used tgβ parameter. 2. The main factor influencing the gradient size of subsidence basin profile is the value of modulus of figural deformation G xz in a direction perpendicular to isotropy planes. Such dependence was achieved at an assumption that the remaining deformation properties of a transversally isotropic model are invariant. 3. The biggest changes of the ratio of modulus of figural elasticity G xy /G xz in the analysed range of tgβ parameter was registered for small working depths. For working depths over 800 m the changes of G xy /G xz ratio are significantly smaller. 4. The simplicity of the adopted numerical model is well worth emphasising. Therefore it may be considered a mathematical diagram describing the process of surface area deformation caused by mining working. The suggested numerical model naturally reflects the movement of a point with a value 0.5W max towards a chosen area. References Białek J., Mielimąka R., Wesołowski M., 2001.
