Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, From the Pastor s Desk I came across these Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. They are thought provoking. The Four Agreements wmlego@gmail.com (773) 581-2730 ext. 129 1. Be impeccable with your word a. Speak with integrity. b. Say only what you mean. c. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. d. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love. 2. Don t take anything personally a. Nothing others do is because of you. b. What others say and do is a protection of their own reality, their own dream. c. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won t be the victim of needless suffering. jdowling42@gmail.com (773) 581-2730 ext. 115 Parish Information Masses 4pm Saturday 6:45 am and 11 am Sunday Confessions 5-6pm Saturday Telephone: (773) 581-2730 3. Don t make assumptions a. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. b. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. c. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. 4. Always do you best a. Your best is going to change from moment to moment: it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. b. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement self-abuse and regret. Rev. William Lego, OSA TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Frequent fliers today have many ways to accrue air miles, so one doesn t always have to endure long hours in cramped seats to earn free hours in cramped seats. In St. Paul s day, there were no such perks, nor would there have been any legal system for him to protest the shipwrecks he endured. He had other rewards in mind. The churches that he established in the catalogue of cities from today s first reading must have been very different from one another. Language, culture, customs, religious history, obstacles to community, social challenges, the places where they met, their clothing, their bread and wine, all distinct, particular to the area. There were social customs as well: in a Christian household, the only place where a slave would be able to stand legally as an equal with the master would be at the table of the Lord, because at that table a new world of reconciliation was imaged. While Paul revered local customs, he was relentless about challenging the ways that people lived their Christian lives and how their worship reflected them. It is much the same today, as a global Catholic Church seeks to respect local customs and culture, allowing for differences in many things, yet always giving expression to the underlying presence of Christ, who binds us all together into his body. WE SHARE CHRIST S LIGHT AND OUR FAITH IS DEEPENED AS WE CELEBRATE THE DIVERSITY OF OUR PARISH.

Trwajmy w świętym gronie Najświętszej Maryi Dziewicy, apostołów i wszystkich świętych. Niech ich przykład i obecność natchną nas cierpliwą ufnością w działanie Twojej łaski. Stroke Scan Plus will be at St. Turibius Catholic Church on Thursday & Friday, May 23rd & 24th to provide life-saving, wellness ultrasound screenings. It is important to perform preventive maintenance for ourselves yearly. Do you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, diabetes, or a family history of heart disease, stroke, abdominal aneurysm or internal cancers? Diagnostic versions of these screenings cost thousands of dollars in a hospital. Stroke Scan Plus will be offering them to you for $159 for all 7 combined ultrasound screenings (Stroke, AAA, AFIB & organs). Insurance is NOT necessary and appointments are limited. Stroke Scan will be available at the the church for you to register on May 11 & 12, or please call 832-437-7355 or toll free 1-866-935-7226 to schedule an appointment today for you or a loved one. THANK YOU Our Annual Easter Food Distribution was held this year on Monday, April15th, and it was a wonderful evening for everyone who attended, clients and Vincentians alike. We prayed together, we laughed together, and we shared the bounty of our food with one another. None of this would have been possible without all of you. St. Turibius Parishioners are truly the most thoughtful and generous people on earth. Your constant response to our calls for help every week is overwhelming. Know in your hearts that you have made a lot of people very happy this past Easter. A special thank you must be mentioned for all the help we receive from our Religious Education Students. In order to have a successful Food Distribution, a great deal of the donated food must be carried from various parish buildings where it is stored to the Lower Church for distribution.the Religious Education Students did the heavy lifting, brought all the food to the Lower Church, set up the tables and the food, helped our clients fill their baskets and helped them carry their food to their cars.. They are always around to lend a hand with the heavy lifting, and their joy in helping others is quite contagious. At the end of the evening, the students are still there to help with all the clean up. They are a credit to their parents and their teachers... and to themselves... we are raising good kids here at St. Turibius. Once again, a great big Thank You to all of you for your generous sprit of giving. We are truly the Family of St. Turibius! We take care of each other, and we love what we do. Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out Christ s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace, forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with us, know we are Christians by our love!
