From the Pastor s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, June is upon us and we are getting ready to enjoy summer. This time of year is when there is just a little more free time for us to get outside and enjoy the beauty of creation. wmlego@gmail.com (773) 581-2730 ext. 29 Once again this summer, we will be celebrating Outdoor Masses in various parts of our parish. On the main door of the church, there is a picture of our parish boundaries. Included on the map are the dates and times for each of the six Outdoor Masses that we are planning to celebrate this year. These Masses will begin on Thursday, July 2nd at 7:00 p.m. and be held for six consecutive Thursdays throughout the Summer. The last Mass is scheduled for August 6th. At this writing, we only have two of the dates and times for Masses set. These dates are on July 9th and July 16th. I am asking that one family from each of the other designated zones of the parish offer to host an Outdoor Mass. The hosting consists of allowing us to celebrate the Eucharist in front of your home. The host family needs to supply a table for us to use as an altar. The priest who will be the celebrant of the Mass will make sure that all necessary items are brought for the celebration of the Eucharist. rcb281@yahoo.com (773) 581-2730 ext. 17 What has become part of the tradition for these Outdoor Masses is that there is a very small fraternal time after the Mass. The host family usually has provided some coffee and water for after the Mass. This fraternal time has been a time for us to get to know one another and has also fostered a sense of community on the block of where the Mass is celebrated. On more than one occasion, other families on the block of where the Mass is being hosted helped with the fraternal gathering after the Mass. Again, it is not necessary to provide food or drink, it has just become part of the celebration. If you are interested in being a host family for a Mass, please contact the rectory. jdowling42@gmail.com (773) 581-2730 ext. 15 Parish Information On June 13, 2015, we will be celebrating at the 4:00 p.m. Mass the Transition Liturgy for our Parish Grammar School. This Mass will be a chance for us as a parish community to celebrate all of the years that we have provided Catholic Education for the families of our parish. You are all invited to attend this Mass. After the Mass, there will be a chance to walk through the buildings of our grammar school. Rev. William Lego, OSA Masses 4pm Saturday 6:45 am and 11 am Sunday Confessions 5-6pm Saturday Telephone: (773) 581-2730 We share Christ s light and our faith is deepened as we celebrate the diversity of our Parish.
Ks. Although we are just beginning summer soon and the thought of starting a new Religious Education school year may seem a bit premature, it is never too soon to begin planning for our students who are in need of individuals who are willing to share their faith. Our Religious Education program continues to grow and we are in need of catechists and aides for all grade levels. Who are we looking for? You - yes you - caring individuals who love their faith and want to make a difference in a child s faith formation. I think we have many parishioners who would be perfect for this and would be great at bringing the word of God to the children of our parish who are not able to attend Catholic schools. Why not give it a try, volunteer as a catechist or aide. It will make a difference in your life and in the lives of the children you teach. Won t you please help us by volunteering as a catechist so that we can continue to accept all the children who come to us to be formed in the Catholic faith. We are also in need of adults who could help us with our traffic control at the beginning of classes and at dismissal. Because of the number of children in our program has become a problem, traffice control around the Church and School. We need adults to help with this problem. If you could give us some help in trying to secure the safety of our children, it would be greatly appreciated. God Bless You! The people of St. Turibius under your dedication leadership have responded generously to the Annual Appeal, clearly demonstrating that they have a firm grasp of what it means to live as those who are Entrusted with Responsibility. Please convey to your community my admiration for their willingness to sacrifice in a way that benefits others and transforms the world through Christ s loving presence. I am inspired by their sense of responsibility for others, a sentiment that is shared by all the many beneficiaries of their generosity. Please let the people of St. Turibius know of my pledge to remember them in prayer and at the Lord s table as I thank God for many gifts.
