Next Sunday, June 7th we are celebrating the Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). There will be only ONE MASS at 10:00 am with the Eucharistic procession outside. We would like to have girls dressed in white to walk in the procession. Please bring your own baskets and flowers. We also would like boys to ring bells during the procession. All the children who received the sacrament of Holy Communion past years, please come to Mass dressed in your communion outfits. We are also asking all the Parish organizations to take part of the procession. Please have your banners ready before the Mass. W przyszłą niedzielę 7-go czerwca obchodzimy Uroczystość Bożego Ciała. W tym dniu będzie tylko jedna Msza Święta z procesją Eucharystyczną o godzinie 10:00 rano. Bardzo prosimy aby dziewczynki przyszły ubrane na biało do sypania kwiatów w procesji. Prosimy przynieść koszyczki i płatki kwiatów. Prosimy także chłopców do uczestniczenia w procesji do dzwonienia dzwoneczkami. Prosimy dzieci, które przystąpiły w ubiegłych latach do Pierwszej Komunii świętej aby przyszły w swoich komunijnych ubraniach. Również bardzo prosimy organizacje kościelne o przyszykowanie sztandarów i wzięcie udziału w procesji. Sacrament of Matrimony One of those being married must be a registered parishioner and a practicing Catholic. A six-month preparation period is required by diocesan law. Trinity Sunday Most people don t understand the Trinity (after all, it is a mystery), but I mean that they don t see the significance of why the concept of the Trinity is important. It just seems like it is just an interesting fact of our faith. Would it make a difference if God was not a Trinity? We would have never come to the conclusion that God is three persons, if it were not for Jesus telling us that God is his Father and that we have come to see Jesus as God. Or that Jesus spoke of sending from the Father the Holy Spirit. Very early in the church s development, they came to the conclusion that Jesus was God. If we look at the scriptures we see that the earliest accounts having God raising Jesus from the dead, but then later accounts saying Jesus rose from the dead. The apostles called upon the power and the name of Jesus to cure people. Many are confused that it took over three centuries and the Council of Nicea to declare how Jesus was God. (That is one of the premises of the Di Vinci code) There is a complicated philosophical explanation of how Jesus is God, but the Church long before that believed Jesus was God. You can go to your Catechism of the Catholic Church. Just remember that though we may understand the idea of the Trinity it is a mystery much like scientists talking about a fourth dimension. If we can sometimes understand it, we usually can t picture it. The Trinity is part of what is the mystery of God. What does the trinity mean for us? More important than understanding it philosophically, is to ask how does it effect me and my living? We live in a society that wants to make the individual the center of the world. We are suppose to be the most important thing in the world. Everyone is suppose to have their 15 minutes of fame. Every nation is suppose to be important some time and the wars of the world are to get things our way. The American Ideal is to have done it our way. Our society in the past 40 years has made individual rights more important than community rights. If a community says that they don t want to have a porn shop in their neighborhood, the owner of the shop sues because his individual rights have been violated and he probably will win. We champion the individual rights of people. We need only to look on the nightly television to see that someone is doing something because they have a right to. Our society thinks that individual rights have become more important than anything else. What the Trinity teaches us that even God is a community of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And God could not exist, if he were not a community. The real power of life is not in individualism, but in joining with others to bring about something. The image the world projects is that we don t need anybody. The best can do it all themselves. We are like the hero in the old Western movies where he rides into town and singlehandedly cleans up corruption and then rides out of town to a new adventure. We would like to think of ourselves as the TV character MacGiver who is all knowing and all resourceful. But when we join with others, we learn different understandings and perspectives that we had not understood. Zapewne wielu z nas przeżyło odwiedziny tajemniczych gości, którzy pukając do naszych drzwi, chcieli porozmawiać o Bogu, trzymając Biblię pod pachą. Tak, to świadkowie Jehowy. Osobiście myślę, że ich wizyta jest oskarżeniem naszej gnuśności i zaniedbania dwóch podstawowych obowiązków chrześcijańskich: poznania Boga w Biblii i ewangelizowania. Minęły już te czasy, kiedy dzieci na ulicach Konstantynopola kłóciły się o to, czy Jezus Chrystus jest współ-istotny (gr. homousios), czy tylko współpodobny (gr. homoiousios). Wielu chrześcijan nie potrafiłoby dziś nic powiedzieć o tajemnicy Trójcy Świętej. Fragment z Ewangelii Mateusza jest wspaniałym świadectwem wiary pierwszych uczniów Jezusa w Trójcę Świętą. Na odmienność i jednocześnie równość Osób Boskich w tym tekście wskazuje ustawienie ich na tym samym poziomie, ale osobno. Nikt nie jest równy Bogu, tylko On sam w innych osobach. Ojciec i Syn są na pewno rozróżnialni, a dodatkowo w tym samym szeregu zapisano Ducha Świętego. Chrzest ma być udzielany w Imię, a nie w imiona. Jedno Imię, czyli jeden Bóg, ale jednocześnie Trzech na tym samym poziomie. Cała Trójca wykonuje działanie, które przynależy tylko Bogu. Chrzest, który jest dziełem Trójcy, daje nam uwolnienie z grzechów, uświęca nas, czyni nas dziećmi Boga, a te czynności są dziełem jedynie Boga! Gdy Jezus odpuszczał grzechy uzdrowionemu paralitykowi, uczeni w Piśmie, a więc znawcy przedmiotu, pomyśleli: Czemu On tak mówi? On bluźni. Któż może odpuszczać grzechy, prócz jednego Boga? (Mk 2,7). Żydzi, doskonale rozumieli, co Jezus chciał przez to powiedzieć. Dlatego więc usiłowali Żydzi tym bardziej Go zabić, bo nie tylko nie zachowywał szabatu, ale nadto Boga nazywał swoim Ojcem, czyniąc się równym Bogu (J 5,18). Jezus nie zaprzeczył Żydom, że tak właśnie jest. On naprawdę czynił się równym Bogu, nazywając Go swoim Ojcem! Jeśli się czynił równym Bogu, to albo jest Bogiem, albo bluźniercą. Wiemy z historii, że ówcześni decydenci religijni wybrali tę drugą możliwość i uznali Jezusa za bluźniercę. W innym wypadku nie ośmieliliby się ukrzyżować Jezusa. Został ukrzyżowany, ponieważ nigdy nie zaprzeczył, że jest Bogiem, a szczególnie na sądzie Kajfasza. Podobnie rzecz się ma z Duchem Świętym. On nie występuje jako jakaś dusza Ojca lub dusza Syna, czy też bezosobowa moc, tylko jako samodzielna Osoba. A jednak jest tym samym Bogiem, co Ojciec i Syn! Lecz gdy przyjdzie On, Duch Prawdy, nauczy was wszelkiej prawdy (J 16, 13). Teologia mówi, że Ojciec nie pochodzi od nikogo, Syn pochodzi od Ojca przez prawdziwe zrodzenie, Duch od Ojca i Syna. Duch Święty, mówiąc o sobie Ja, jest Osobą, a nie jest jakimś bezosobowym duchowym tchnieniem: Kiedy Piotr rozmyślał jeszcze nad widzeniem, powiedział do niego Duch: Poszukuje cię trzech ludzi. Zejdź więc i idź z nimi bez wahania, bo Ja ich posłałem (10,19 20). Nie musimy być wybitnymi znawcami dogmatyki, ale wystarczy nam znać choćby tyle, ile dziś poznaliśmy, by nie tylko zamknąć drzwi przed świadkami ducha kłamstwa, ale i zamknąć im usta, by nie fałszowali prawdy!
